PICKENS, Grady Wright, 72, passed away peacefully at home December 29, 1996 surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 28, 1924 in La Rue, Texas. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Chloe 'Todi' Pickens; sons, James (Debbie) Stacy of Albuquerque, NM, Grady Wright II (Linda) Pickens of Tucson, AZ; daughters, Judy Koenig of San Antonio, TX, Kerry Carlson and Sharon Pickens, both of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Rebekah Carlson, Ethan Carlson, Chloe Carlson and David Hinds; brothers, A.T. (Lorene) Pickens of Nederland, TX, James (Bert) Pickens of West TX; sisters, Dorothy Jean Moore of Bellmead, TX and Nina Jo (Howard) Pedigo of Axtell, TX; uncle, Charles (Elizabeth) Pickens of Waco, TX. At the age of 18 he joined the USMC where he spent 3 years before joining the Air Force in 1947 from which he retired 22 years later. In 1969, Grady and Todi moved to Tucson. He graduated in 1977 with a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from the U of A. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 530 in Hubbard, TX. He was a devoted husband and father, an avid golfer, who also spent hours tinkering with automobiles. At his request there will be no Memorial Service. THOMPSON, Robert Lee, 70, of Greensboro, North Carolina and Rincon Country West R.V. Park, Tucson, died December 29, 1996 at the University Medical Center. Born March 29, 1926 at Hopkinsville, Kentucky. married May 29, 1948 to Janet Adams, his surviving widow. Other surviving relatives are his daughter, Nancy Lee Thompson and granddaughter, Emily Thompson-Bruder of Tucson; a son, David Lee Thompson and his wife, Karen of Tampa, Florida, plus a brother, Clarence Eugene (Tom) Thompson of Mesa, Arizona and a brother, Donald E. Thompson of Syracuse, New York. Robert worked 25 years for the Carrier Corp. in Syracuse, New York as an order correspondent, then in Greensboro, North Carolina as a parts manager for 19 years, retiring in 1990. He was an avid golfer and bowler, loved boating, fishing, wood working and furniture refinishing. Bob and Janet loved RCW at Tucson as 'Snowbirds' with the many friends and neighbors they found at RCW. Bob enjoyed the Senior Olympics during 1996, winning some medals (silver and bronze). Bob served his country during World War II as a Radio Operator in the U.S. Army Airforce in the China – Burma – India Theatre. Bob was a member and past master of Salina Lodge #955 of Syracuse, New York. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Greensboro, N.C. and a recent member of Sabbar Shrine of Tucson. A Memorial Service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. on January 3, 1997 at The Holy Way Presbyterian Church, 4221 West Ajo Way in Tucson, with Reverend Raymond Thomas officiating, plus members from Nelson Bledsoe Lodge of Masons will present Masonic services and a flag presentation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Robert Thompson Memorial Fund which will be donated to charities chosen by family.

Joseph was the beloved husband of Marie L. Dougherty, a marriage that has lasted for 73 years. He was the loving father of, Jeannie, Joseph, Patricia and Robert. Preceded in death by his daughter Jeannie and son Joseph. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Katherine Dougherty; and son-in-law, Saul Fox; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. God, Country and Family were not just words to Joseph, he lived by them. He fought in WWI and WWII, serving as a pilot, first in the Army’s Signal Corps and then the Army Air Corps.
