MEYERS, Sara, 88, of Tucson, died December 29, 1996. Mrs. Meyers was a member of Temple Ner Tamid and Choir, Tucson Music Teachers Association, Chicago Federation of Musicians, Tucson Masterworks Chorale, ORT, Opera Guild, Patron of Tucson Symphony and loving piano teacher of multiple generations of students. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Meyers, and her sisters, Elizabeth Fain and Jeanette Miller. Survivors include her daughters, Linda (Larry) Harris and Irene (Steve) Lloyd of Tucson; son, Gene (Carole) Meyers, Ph.D., of Berkeley, CA; sister, Mollie Teich of Tucson; grandchildren, Carly Harris, Jeremy Harris, David Meyers, and Suzanne Meyers. Memorial Service Tuesday, 12:00 noon in EVERGREEN MORTUARY with Rabbi Joseph Weizenbaum officiating. Interment in Palatine, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to T.M.T.A., 4611 N. MORENO, Arthur E., 88, of Tucson, passed away December 27, 1996. Preceded in death by Mary M. Moreno, beloved wife of 48 years; and daughter, Andriette O’Connor. Survived by daughters, Rosemary (Ray), Linda, Patricia, Joanne (Tim), Ellen (Jerry); sons, Arte (Carole), Elias, Bobby, Alex (Stephanie), Ron (Teri). Also survived by 21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 1996 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral Interment to follow at Holy Hope Mausoleum. Mr. Moreno was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. Family suggest donation can be made to Cathedral Maintenance Fund and T.M.C. Hospice.

NORDBERG, John Earl, 77, died December 27, 1996. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Helen Nordberg; daughter, Mary Ann Johnson; grandchildren, Eric, Karin, and Alex Johnson; and brother, Clarence (Virginia) Nordberg. John was born in St. Louis, MO and was a veteran of WWII. He retired from the Civil Service at Davis-Monthan AFB. John is remembered for his love of the Arizona mountains and deserts, his woodworking artistry, and his great love for and care of his family. Funeral Mass and Burial at Holy Hope Cemetery on Tuesday, December 31, at 10:00 a.m. in the Mausoleum. Memorial donations may be made to VA Medical Center Hospice Fund, 3601 S. 6th Ave, Tucson, 85723.

PRUZZO, Samuel F., 93, of Tucson, died December 28, 1996. Survived by daughter-in-law, Jacki Pruzzo of Tucson and Judith Pruzzo Hawkins of TX; granddaughters, Maria (Mike) Richards and Lisa Pruzzo of TX; grandsons, Eric Pruzzo of TX and Brian Pruzzo of Tucson; great-grandchildren, Tyler Pruzzo and Christina Richards of TX. Preceded in death by wife, Dorothy; and sons, Neil and Raymond. Sam was an avid bowler and bowled with the Funsters at Lucky Strike. He bowled a 223 game in 1990. He was employed by Jacome’s for 30 years. Service Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. SHAW, George Frederick, 79, of Tucson, died December 23, 1996. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen C. Shaw; daughters, Margaret S. (Michael L.) Straley of Scottsdale, Anne (Robert) Houghan of Phoenix; grandchildren, Robin V. (John) Moorehouse, Nicaragua, Kimberly S. Straley, VA, Heidi E. and Laura C. Houghan, both of Phoenix; sisters, Marie A. Webb and Laura Cecile (Truman W.) Walker, both of Colorado Springs, CO and Genevieve Rozar of Aguanga, CA; brother, Steven Z. (Caroline) Shaw of Valley Center, CA. Mr. Shaw was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII having served in the South Pacific Theatre and was retired from U.S. Postal Service. Memorial Services were held Saturday, 11:00 a.m., EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile, with Rev. Gregory Adolf officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Arizona Cancer Center, 1501 N. Campbell Ave.Tucson, AZ 85724.

VANCE, Mildred (Millie) Marie, 65, of Tucson, Arizona, died December 27, 1996. Survived by her husband, Jack Vance; daughters, Nanette Stebley, Jeanette Wills; brother, Melvin Kelley; grandsons, Eric Nickerson, Brian Lawrence; granddaughter, Amy; great-grandson, Nickolas Nickerson; and great-granddaughter, Mykayla. Mobile Aire, Inc., Pro Aire Transport and Mobile Aire Hangars-owner for 26 years. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with Services at 4:00 p.m., Monday, December 30, 1996 at South Lawn Mortuary with Pastor Gaston Ravon officiating.

WEAVER, Helen L., 76, of Tucson, passed away Friday, December 27, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burton “Bud' Weaver. She is survived by her children, Kit (Carol) Weaver, Roger (Bette) Miller, Keith (Iva) Miller, Don (Diana) Miller, Loie (John) Dillard; sisters, Ailene and Dorothy; and numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 1997 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Private interment will be at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

BLACKMAN, Dennis M., 50, of Tucson, died December 21, 1996. He is survived by his father, Sol Blackman; brother, David Blackman; sister, Sandra Barmcq; uncle, Michael Charles; uncle and aunt, Marv and Miriam Tavlin, Eli and Eve Catran, Julius and Phyllis Blackman. CENTNER, Gerald Francis, 61, died December 26, 1996. Survived by wife, Caliope Centner; children, Gerald F.(Brenda) Centner Jr., John L. (Lee) Centner II, Nicki L. Quesada, Theresa M. Anderson and Susie L. (Steve) Cohen; father, John L. Centner; brothers, James and Roy Centner; 12 grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd.

CREIGH, Helen J., 78, died December 25, 1996. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

FINICAL, Thomas Nelson, 95, was born on October 16, 1901 in Cadiz, OH and passed away on December 26, 1996. He was preceded in death by Bernice Anna, his wife of 62 years and Christene Smith-Finical, who died in 1995. Tom is survived by three sons, Thomas Jr (Joanne) of Scottsdale, Irvin (Jeane) and James of Tucson. He also will be remembered by four grandsons, (Carson, Scott, Eric and Douglas), and a granddaughter, (Leslie) and seven great-grandchildren. Tom met Bernice on the campus of Ohio State University where he earned his Engineering Degree in 1922. He taught engineering courses at OSU for two years before entering the business world with the Barrett Roofing Company in New York City. He became production manager for a number of East Coast and eastern Canadian plants until 1949. At that time he relocated to western Canada as Plant Manager for the Sidney Roofing Company, which later became a part of MacMillan Bloedel. Tom and Bernice retired to Florida for a short time before moving to Tucson in 1968. At that time he became Business Manager for Finical and Dombrowski, Architects and Engineers, a position he held until 1980 when he permanently retired. Tom was an active member of numerous professional associations as well as being a past member of the Skyline Country Club, Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, the University of Arizona Foundation, the Ohio State Alumni Association, and many local charitable organizations. At his request, there will be no memorial services. Donations in his name may be made to the organization of your choice.

FOX, Walter E., 82, of Tucson, AZ, died Tuesday, December 24, 1996. Survived by wife, Irene A. Fox; daughter, Sherri Abbott; son, Lawrence Fox; stepdaughter, Diane Ortiz; stepsons, Owen and Harlan Watson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Walter was a 50 year member of Local 741 Steam Fitters, a Mason, Shriner and charter member of the Sabbar Temple. There will be no visitation. Graveside Services, 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 1996 at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave., with Rev. Billie Hall officiating.

JAMES, Jerry Wayne, 29, died December 25, 1996. Son of Howard James and Ruby Davis both of Tucson; grandson of Ethel M. Dickson of AR, Calvin and Ruby Woods of Yuma; six sisters; five brothers; 15 nieces and nephews survive, as well as his girlfriend, Peggy 'Pookey' Oakes. Funeral Service, 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 31 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Jerry was employed at Alan Bradley Roofing. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.Monday, December 30 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

KAHN, Leonard, 54, died December 24, 1996. Husband of Kathleen Kahn of Tucson; father of Brian Kahn and Joelle Ruffell both of Tucson; son of Emil Kahn; stepson of Shirley Kahn both of Tucson; brother of Robert Kahn of Woodburn, OR, Russell Kahn of Tucson, Emily Hunsaker of Tucson, David Kahn of Pinetop, AZ and Dolores Parker of Sarasota, FL; grandfather of Parker Kahn and Savannah Ruffell; nephew of Tony (Lena) DeMadona of Tucson. Preceded in death by mother, Marguerite DeMadona Kahn. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 30 at St. Phillips in the Hills Episcopal Church, 4440, N. Campbell Ave. with Rev. Dr. Roger O. Douglas, Rector officiating. Burial in Holy Hope Cemetery. Friends may call from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29, at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. 'We are spirits. KORTE, Grace Anna, 95, died December 25, 1996. Grace and her husband, Edward, original settlers, came to Arizona in 1927 and started a poultry ranch in the Emery Park area south of town. Edward died June 8, 1931 at the Veterans Hospital. Grace continued to operate the poultry ranch by herself until the years of WWII. Grace raised her young children during the Great Depression by herself with out any aid. During WWII Grace worked at Consolidated Air Craft Company, an airplane plant located at the west end of the current airport. After the war Grace worked at the VA hospital and retired from there in 1963 and continued to live on the old poultry ranch property. Grace is survived by sons, Dennis Korte and Gerald Korte both of Tucson; daughter, Marcella Schultheis of West Covina, CA; sister, Beatrice Kleinow of Wyandotte, MI; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive. Rosary will be recited 9:30 a.m. Monday, December 30, 1996 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church. Mass will be offered 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Monicas Catholic Church, 212 W. Medina. Further services and Interment in South Field, Michigan. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

LANIER, Carol, 57, born January 2, 1939 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 22, 1996. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Lee Lanier. Mrs. Lanier is survived by her daughters, Julie (Dave) Beauchamp, Lisa (Tom) Kent, Lori Chacon, all of Tucson, Kim (Norm) Hoskin of Missouri; sisters, Violet D’Amore and Lucille Held; brothers, Herb (Jean) Held and Johnny (Aggie) Held; grandchildren, Hidi Delight Ostrander, Denise Freeman, Crystal Chacon, Leanna Beauchamp, Beau and Ariel Kent and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Lanier moved to Tucson in 1971 from Milwaukee, WI where she worked and raised her four children. Later she married Wade Lee Lanier in 1978 where they spent most of their time traveling together with their grandchildren and spending their leisure time in the White Mountains and Cholla Bay, Mexico. Memorial Services, 2:00 p.m.Sunday, December 29, 1996 at Faith Lutheran Church, 3925 E. 5th St. (Alvernon and 5th). Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

LAUGHLIN, Melvin A., passed away December 23, 1996 at the age of 77. He was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and served in the Army during World War II. He moved to Tucson in 1957. In 1960, he started the Laughlin Accounting and Tax Service which he semi-retired from in 1994 but continued to serve many tax clients through 1996. He is survived by his wife, Grace of 54 years; daughter, Darlene LaCavera and her husband, Joseph LaCavera; three grandsons, Dennis (Erika) Keys, Steven Keys and Jerry Michael Samaniego all of Tucson; three step grandsons, Joe (Brenda), Tony (Karyn) and Michael LaCavera; five great-grandsons, David, Ronald, Jonathon, Steven and Kenneth Keys; four step great-grandchildren, Nina, Tony, Brittny and Brennon LaCavera. Also survived by two brothers, Lawrence and Ralph Laughlin and a sister Mabel Nash of of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brother, Robert. Friends may call Sunday, December 29th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd., where Services will be held Monday, December 30th at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

LESZYNSKI, Helen I., 92, of Tucson, died Friday, December 27, 1996. She is survived by her children, George Lesinski, Jr of CA, Robert Leszczynski of MI, Rose Ann May of Tucson, Mary Leszczynski of Phoenix, David Lesinski of CA, Thomas Lesinski of Phoenix; sister, Kathryn Graham of MO; 22 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd., with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 1996 at St. Francis De Sales Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.

LISTER, John Russell, 67, of Tucson, died December 19, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Ronda Mazac, San Antonio, Sherie Colbert, Tucson, Lisa Fore, Tucson; grandchildren, Dawn, Brad, Jeremy, Nicole, Kayla and Paul. Memorial Services will be on Monday, December 30, 1996 at 7:00 p.m. at Sahuaro Baptist Church (corner of Houghton and Old Spanish Trail.) Memorials may be made to Sahuaro Baptist Church.
