PRICE, Mary Theresa, 75, formerly of Scranton, PA, 30 year resident of Tucson, died Thursday, March 20, 1997. She is survived by her husband, Robert Price Sr.; children, Robert (Anne) Price, Jr., Richard (Delia) Price, Nancy (Pat) Harrington; five grandchildren; four sisters and three brothers. At Mrs. Price’s request there will be no services. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

YSLAS, Ramon C., 76, born in Tucson, Arizona on April 16, 1920, entered into rest on March 22, 1997. He retired from P.F.E. Railway after 42 years of service. Survived by his wife, Maria Luisa Yslas; daughter, Sylvia Y. Felix; grandsons, Steven and Anthony Felix; sisters, Mrs. Anita Y. Negreville of Dallas, TX, Mrs. Alicia Y. Chavez, and Mrs. Celia Y. Romero, both of Tucson. Mr. Yslas was a World War II veteran, during which he was awarded the Purple Heart. He served as a volunteer for the Veterans Hospital for 14 years. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 602 W. Ajo. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m.

BROWNE, Ruth H. Departed her earthly body on March 9, 1997 at the age of 83 and went to be with her beloved husband, Samuel S. S. Browne; her parents, George Abel and Alice Baker Johnston and her sister, Alice M. Hisamoto, all of whom have gone on before her. She is survived by her sisters, Helen L. Johnston and Marjorie M. Dunham and her husband’s children, Stanhope Browne (Libby) and Ann B. Strickland (Tom). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Janet Dunham for whom she had a special bond. Ruth loved life even when it was most difficult. She and her husband traveled the world as long as their health permitted. She was an avid photographer and had her pictures displayed in a number of exhibitions. She loved Arizona and nature in all of its resplendent glory, from sea shells to wild flowers. She had pursued a spiritual past for many years and knew she was going on to a beautiful place. Her remains are to be scattered. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, April 6, 1997 at 2:30 p.m. at Balmoral Care Center, 5830 E. Pima St.Contributions may be made in Ruth’s name to KUAT TV, University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona 85721 or to the Nature Conservancy, 300 E. University Blvd. Tucson, AZ 85705. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

CHURCH, Louis Hull, 71, died March 20, 1997. Mother of Stephen (Pat) Church of Phoenix and Jeffrey (Joanne) Church of New Jersey; sister of Wayne Hull of New York and Robert Hull of Pennsylvania; grandmother of Ashley and Jeffrey Church. Memorial Service 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 1997 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, with father Floyd Stromberg officiating. Contributions to the University of Rochester Gift Office, Suite 30, Rochester, New York, 14627, in memory of Louis Church would be appreciated.

ESTERLINE, David Edward, 45, has been reunited with his parents, Harold and Ann Esterline. He died suddenly March 20, 1997. David is loved and will be missed by his wife of 26 years, Betty; son, David; daughter, Amy; two beautiful grandchildren, Gina Marie and Alicia Michelle; brothers and sisters, Dennis, Richard, Barbara, Ellen, along with nieces and nephews, will be coming to Tucson from out of state to be with David prior to his journey. He graduated from Cardinal Daugherty High School and served two years in the U.S. Army. David came to Tucson in 1976, from Philadelphia, PA. He worked in the family business and eventually became a partner. He is loved and respected, leaving behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, a new little godchild and many, many long time friends. Mass offered Monday, 10:30 a.m. Sacred Heart Church, 601 E. Ft. Lowell Rd., celebrated by Rev. Patrick Gavin, O. Carm. Friends may call Monday, 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY, N. Oracle and W. Miracle Mile. Graveside Services Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. Holy Hope Cemetery.

FLORES, Augustine C. 'Gus' 80, of Tucson, passed away March 19, 1997.Survived by wife, Isabel Alvarez Flores; daughter, Irene Flores (Richard) Davis; sons, Richard G. (Gloria) Flores, D.D.S. and Ronald R. (Ana Lilia) Flores, D.D.S.; 11 grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Flores recently celebrated there 60th wedding anniversary. Visitation will be held on March 23, 1997 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 South Stone Ave. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. LONGLEY, Clara-Margaret, 'Vicki', passed away March 20, 1997. Survived by husband, Leon J.; daughter Mary Minor Terry; sons, Dr. J. E. Disiere, Roy E. Disiere; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. No services at her request. Memorial service to be announced. Remembrances to the charity of choice.

MITCHELL, Faye Frances. Was born January 5, 1925 in Tahlequah, OK and died in Tucson, Arizona, March 19, 1997. Faye is survived by her husband, John; son, Jim; and sister, Esther Wilson. She came to Tucson to teach Business Education in 1954 at the invitation of District One. She married John Mitchell in 1956. She started her teaching career in 1955 at Tucson High School. Faye did her undergraduate work at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. Besides studying business she minored in the study of music. She taught business education 25 years, mostly at Pueblo High School. She was very charitable, giving to many local charities such as TMC, Food Bank, Salvation Army, Cancer Center and Parkinson’s. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. Her national charities included the Peale Foundation and Billy Grahm. Faye was a long time member of the United Methodist Women’s organization and Pueblo High School Retired teachers. Faye loved birds and was pleased to have five parrots in her home especially her Scarlett Macaw, 'Rebecca'. She also fed and watered wild birds in her back yard. Funeral Service 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 24, 1997 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 8051 E. Broadway, with Rev. Sharon Ragland, Rev. Louis Runion and Rev. Bill Denlinger officiating. Interment to follow at TMP East Lawn. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 1997 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Contributions to the University of Arizona Cancer Research Center would be appreciated.

MORRISON, Pete I., 46, of Tucson, passed away March 14, 1997. Survived by his father, Raymond Morrison (Taft, CA); daughter, Julie (Steve) Holland (New Mexico); sister, Karen (Art) Gafford (Bakersfield); uncle, Bill Morrison (Fresno, CA) and many other loving family members and friends. He served in Vietnam from 71-77 in the 6th Artillery unit and received a National Defense Service Medal. He was the original 'cowboy'. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 29, 1997 at Sanctuary Cove, 8001 Scenic Dr., Tucson, AZ 85743 (744-2375) at 4:30 p.m. with a full Military Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Sanctuary Cove (church). 'The simple joys he gave us can become a part of who we are and the legacy that lives on with in us.'

PARTLO, Donald, 81, of Tucson, died March 19, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Agnes; three children, Donald William, Judith Lurene Richards and James Foster Partlo; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. There will be no services. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

PETRICKA, Mahlon W., 70 years old, died March 20, 1997 in Tucson, AZ. Born on May 28, 1926 in Bonifocus, Minnesota. Survived by his wife, Mary Petricka of Tucson; two sons, Andrew Petricka of Peoria, AZ and Robert Petricka of Tucson; two daughters, Cheryl Brown and Diane Butler both of Tucson; brother, Donald Petricka of Montgomery, MN and sister, Genevieve Holts of Montgomery, MN; mother, Christina Petricka of New Prague, MN; five granddaughters. Services for Mr. Petricka will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, March 24, 1997 at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, where friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Lung Foundation. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 881-0338.

SIMPSON, Thomas, 97, born February 10, 1900 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, died March 19, 1997. He came to America at age 19 and worked the docks of New York City. After the death of his wife, Martha in 1968, he moved to Tucson. He is survived by his sister, Violet Simpson of Northern Ireland and his dearest friends for over 20 years, Miriam Stein of Tucson. Always a lover of music, Tommy played fiddle in his youth and sang Danny Boy for the last time on March 14, 1997 with his friend, Fran Westra, who will miss him greatly. No services are planned.

STEIN, Hans Fred, M.D., 83, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 1997. Dr. Stein was former chief of Tuberculosis Services at the V.A. Hospital, as well as Lecturer at the University Medical Center. He was also fellow Emeritus of the American College of Chest Physicians and an active board member of the Arizona Lung Association. He retired from service to his country as full Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Liddy; his children, Shirley Cowen (Stan) of Chatsworth, California, Linda Caprara of Nixa, Missouri and Michael Stein (Cindy) of Tucson, as well as grandchildren, Michelle and Jennifer Cowen; Eryne and Allison Caprara and Amanda Stein. He will be missed by his family and by those whose lives he touched. Memorial Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 1997 at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Road, Tucson, Arizona 85712. Donations may be made to the Heart Center c/o University Medical Center, Room 6404, 1501 N. Campbell Ave., Tucson, AZ 85724.

TERRAZAS, Guadalupe (Lupe), 78, died peacefully March, 18, 1997. Lupe, a long time Tucson resident is survived by her husband of 63 years, Cipriano and by her ten children, Ysabel (William) Contreras; Henry (Pat), Mary Kennel of CA; John (Margaret); Albert (Frances) of N.C.; Helen (Milton) Duarte-Agte; Jessie (Lizzie) of CA; Frances (Mike) Markussen; James (Artie) and Rachel (Geno) Sollenberger. In addition Lupe is survived by many loving grandchildren; great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A viewing for family and friends will be held at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Avenue, on Sunday (23rd) from 5:00 to 8:00 with a service at 7:00 p.m.Burial will be at South Lawn Cemetery on Monday at 9:00 a.m.

ARAGON, Gustavo. Our beloved father Gustavo went to rest with the Lord March 19, 1997 in the early hours of the morning. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Josephine; children, Esperanza (Tony), Anna (Tony), Marcia (Mario) and Gus Jr. (Sally); his grandchildren include: Yvonne, Christine, Manuel Jr., Martin, Yvette, Chris, Michelle, Gabriel, Michael, Mario Jr., Abel and Saul; great-grandchildren include: Joel Jr., Brian, Timothy, Miguel, Manuel III, Jacquelyn, Brisa, Sonia and Martin Jr. Gustavo retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad and Pima County Highway Department. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and belonged to Saint Ambrose Catholic Church. Our dad exemplified humility and kindness to all and was a father that was always there. We’re thankful for our father and husband, and thank God for our wonderful dad. Family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the TMC Hospice Program especially Peggy and Mary. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, 1997 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Saturday, March 22, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Ambrose Church, 300 S. Tucson, Blvd. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. DERRICKSON, Calvin M., M/Sgt. (Retired) U.S. Air Force, 71, of Tucson, passed March 18, 1997. Survived by brothers, William, Preston, Gippie and Victor Derrickson, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; sisters, Hettie Johnson and Mary L. Derrickson, both of Ohio; godson, Teron Caldwell, Tucson. Mr. Derrickson’s wife, Jeweline Derrickson, preceded him in death. Mr. Derrickson was a member of the A.M.A Aeronautics-CRCM. Visitation Saturday, March 22, 1997 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Following cremation, Inurnment will take place in Clovis, New Mexico.

DOWNEY, Vada Marie, 79, died March 18, 1997. Survived by her husband of 57 years, William G. Downey; son, William G. Downey Jr; two grandsons, Ryan Keith and Chance Matthew Downey. Vada attended Tucson High School and University of Arizona Class 1939. Private family services were held. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in the memory of Vada.

FARNSWORTH, Clayton O. Jr., 68, died March 18, 1997. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton O. Sr. and Pauline Farnsworth and by his sisters, Helen Jane Farnsworth Tubbs and Janice Mae Simmons. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Bishop Farnsworth of Tucson; daughter, Cheryl Farnsworth Coop (Richard) of Portland, Oregon; son, Clayton Paul Farnsworth of Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. He is also survived by two grandsons, Jeffrey Coop of Missoula, Montana and Steven Coop of Portland, Oregon. Other survivors include two sisters, Nancy Farnsworth Ohler of Wintersville, Ohio and Barbara Farnsworth Sushka of Marietta, Ohio.Clayton was born December 16, 1928 in Wellsburg, West Virginia and spent his formative years there graduating from high school in 1947. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp. August 1, 1947 and served until retirement August 1, 1968. During his 21 years of service he was stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Clinton-Sherman Air Force Base in Oklahoma and Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico. After retiring from military service he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for an additional 21 years. He was an active member of the Old Pueblo Lapidary Club, serving one year as President. He also was active in the Tucson Gem and Mineral Society serving as Treasurer for two years. He and his wife are long time members of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 8051 E. Broadway. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the Community Food Bank, 3003 S. Country Club Rd. Tucson, Arizona 85713. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

HERNBRODE, William R. 'Bob' age 76, of Nogales, AZ, died March 18, 1997. Husband of Artis Belle of Nogales; father of Robert D. (Janine) of Golden, CO and Richard A.(Joann) of Neosho, WI; grandfather of Richard A. Jr. of Minneapolis, MN, Jeffrey T. (Kendra) of Watertown, WI and Joy (Jason McPherson) Hernbrode of Tucson, AZ; brother of Dorothy Fletcher of Payson, AZ and Ruth (Bruce) Spence of Pueblo West, CO. Preceded in death by parents, Ray and Florence and brother, Raymond. William was born October 1, 1920 in Steubenville, Ohio. He moved with his family to Phoenix, AZ when he was five years old. He served with the US Coast Guard during WWII. He worked for the Arizona Game and Fish Department for 26 years and the Defenders of Wildlife for seven years before retiring to Nogales, AZ. He was a pioneer in environmental education. His many national and state awards reflect his life dedicated to wildlife conservation. A Memorial Service will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee, Saturday, March 22, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. with Richard A. Hernbrode, Jr. officiating.
