GALLOWAY, Harry S., 71, passed away March 17 with his family at his side. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne, Tucson; children, Debbie Galloway, MT, Steve (Jill) Galloway, CA and Lorri (Scott) Salerno, Tucson; grandchildren, Shannon, Kristin, Scott and Lucy. He was a car dealer before moving to Arizona where he became a successful real estate developer. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed his ranch in Montana. He was an avid golfer whose love and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

ROEDIGER, Anne-Rosewell 'Rosie' Johns, 66, of Tucson, passed away March 16, 1997. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Frank Stoddard Johns and Anne Page Johns and sister of the late Thomas Nelson Page Johns, all of Richmond, VA. Survived by her loving and devoted husband, Walter Charles Roediger; children, Edwin (Tani Bahti) Metcalf Gaines, Jr., Anne Page Gaines (Leo) Vallee, both of Tucson, and Ms. duVergne Robert Gaines, Los Angeles, CA; grandsons, Eric Michael, Justin Thomas and Todd Andrew Gaines, Tucson; sisters, Patsy (Herbert) Langford, of Jackson, MS and Ruth (William) Hill, of Richmond, Virginia; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews; stepchildren, Anne Victoria Roediger and Charles Clark Roediger, both of Tucson; sister-in-law, Margaret J. Barnett, Ho Ho Kus, New Jersey. Born in Richmond, Virginia in 1930, Rosie was a graduate of St. Catherine’s and a cum laude graduate of Bryn-Mawr College. She received her Masters degree in history from the University of Arizona. Throughout her many years of service with the City of Tucson, Rosie distinguished herself through her hard work, intelligence, determination, loyalty and commitment to the cause of economic development in Tucson and the consideration of the needs of others. In October of 1992, she retired from the Business Development Finance Corporation where she had been its Executive Director. She was instrumental in preserving numerous historical buildings, establishing the Arts District and revitalizing the Tucson downtown area. Upon Rosie’s retirement Mayor George Miller proclaimed October 30, 1992, 'Anne-Rosewell 'Rosie' Roediger Day.' In the 1970's, she served two terms on the Catalina Foothills District Board of Education, one as president. She was a longtime active member of St. Philip’s in the Hills Church where she had served on the vestry. She was also a member of the Ware Church of Gloucester County, Virginia. She was active in and a former president of the Bryn-Mawr Club of Tucson and most recently served as the Southwestern Regional Director of the Alumni Association. She was a writer and a historian specializing in the Page and Nelson families of early Virginia and the Rosewell and Oakland Plantations. Rosie loved the ocean, was an avid sailor and a rabid U of A basketball fan. Among the many legacies that Rosie leaves us is the importance of commitment to family and friends. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in her honor be made to the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held at St. Philip’s in the Hills on Wednesday, March 19, at 3 p.m.

WARD, Jessica died March 13, 1997 in Glendale, Arizona. She was born in Michigan and was a resident of Arizona since 1944. She is survived by her son, Douglas Ward; a daughter, Dawn Sarrano of Tucson, Arizona; nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren. WILLIAMSON, Leonor Mansfeld, died March 11, 1997, aged 87. Survived by her husband, Archie; son, Alexander of Atlanta; daughter, Anita of Greenwich, Connecticut; four grandchildren, Stephen, Derek, Wendy and Elena; and her niece and nephew in Tucson, Janna-Neen Cunningham and Peter Johnson. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ann-Eve M. Johnson.
From a Tucson pioneer family, she was the younger daughter of Samuel Jacob Mansfeld and Vivian Chauncey Ainsworth, and granddaughter of Jacob S. Mansfeld, a founder and first Regent of the University of Arizona. A 1926 graduate of Tucson High School and a 1930 graduate of the University of Arizona, she taught at the Carrillo School prior to her marriage in 1938.
Memorial Services will be held at St. Philip’s in the Hills, 4440 N. Campbell Avenue on Friday, April 4, 1997 at 11:00 a.m., the Reverend Dr. Roger O. Douglas presiding. Also survived by 25 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
