WOOD, Jean A., 72, of Tucson, died February 23, 1997. Survivors include: husband of 53 years, Robert 'Bob' Wood, Tucson; daughter, Nancy (Randy) Panzer of Phoenix; brother, John W. (Virginia) Shaffer of Tucson; grandchildren, Richard, Robert and Nicole Panzer. Ms. Wood was preceded in death by one brother, Donald in 1993. Ms. Woods was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Horizon Chapter #69, past High Priestess of the Ladies Oriental Shrine in 1990. She was a Grand Officer of the O.E.S. in Illinois in 1980. She was a very active member of the Desert Skies United Methodist Church. BARTLETT, John Rice, of Tucson, was born on October 27, 1907 in Nacozari, Sonora, Mexico and died on February 22, 1997. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Etelvina; his daughter, Telvi (Richard) Guth; sister, Jessie Graham of Cave Junction, OR; brother, Robert Bartlett of NM; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Bartlett was a nephew of Jesus Garcia, the Hero of Nacozari, who gave his life to save the town of Nacozari. Mr. Bartlett attended school in Douglas and Nacozari. A Metallurgist, he spent his entire working life in the mining industry and was employed in the United States, South America and Africa. An avid sportsman, he was the Bolivian National Tennis Champion, and winner of many golf tournaments. Memorial Services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 1997 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. COOPER, Arthur W., 67, of Tucson, died February 23, 1997. Survived by wife, Joan A. Cooper of Tucson; sister-in-law, Beverly Rose Cooper of Springville, AL; brother-in-law, Joe F. GRUBB RN, Jonna, 39, passed away Sunday evening, February 23, 1997. She was the beloved mother of Alex Grubb, age 12 and Max Grubb, age 10. Her friends knew her as a dedicated, hardworking registered nurse with an inordinate talent for nursing and an inexhaustible supply of energy. Her love for her job was exceeded only by her love for her family and her fiance. Jonna was an avid fan of Wildcat Athletics, having a particular passion for football. She regularly attended Dick Tomey’s Wednesday noon football chats during the season. She rarely missed a home game in basketball or football and delighted in traveling to see the Cats play on the road. Jonna will be sorely missed not only by the Campus Health Center, but by all who were fortunate enough to be touched by her life. Please join us Wednesday morning if you can.
