AROS, Hermila R., born January 13, 1906, passed away on February 6, 1997 after a long illness. Preceded in death in 1970 by her Very Dear and Loving husband, Bernard E. Aros (Barney), former Pima County Law Librarian. Mrs. Aros is survived by her daughter, Norma Elva Lee of Tucson; three sons, Barney Aros (Joy) of Tucson, Walter Aros (Patti) of San Diego and Edgar Aros (Emi) of Okinawa, Japan; two grandsons, Brian M. Lee (Crissy) of Tucson and David Aros of Mesa; five granddaughters, Diana Seal (Larry) of Tucson, Susan Bristol (David) of Dallas, TX and Denise LaVigne (Les) of Anchorage, AK and Cathy and Stephanie Aros of San Jose, CA as well as seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Anita Loher and Rose Caballero (Carlos) of Tucson and Celia McAlpin of Chula Vista, CA. 'Millie' as she was known by many, was Court Interpreter in U.S. District Court for many years and also interpreted for many lawyers around Tucson and Mexico. Mrs. Aros and her husband had a small band in the 40's and 50's and played for many clubs for Arizona. She was also a Piano Teacher in her earlier years. She also had a great appreciation of literature and was extremely proud of her Hispanic/French heritage, and in the 40's gave lectures promoting the Hispanic Culture. BARNES, Orton Spaulding II, died February 7, 1997. He was born September 13, 1938 in Binghamton, New York. After graduation from the University of Arizona in 1965, he moved to Colorado where he finished his degree in accounting and then worked as a CPA for several years. He then returned to Tucson in 1976 and began work with the UA Audit Department. He was the business manager of the Pathology Department of University Physicians, Inc., for 10 years before returning to private practice as a CPA in 1991. Mr. Barnes was President Elect of Old Pueblo Rotary and a board member of the Exchange Clubs of Tucson. His hobby was known by his extensive interest and knowledge of trains and his participation in the Tucson Garden Railway Society and the Gadsen Pacific Toy Train Museum. Survived by loving and supportive wife, Patricia; father-in-law, James H. Nall; uncle, Paul Edgecombe; children, Frederic C. Barnes, Jeff G. Orton Barnes, D.O., Naomi J. Barnes, Holly L. KISTLER, Kenneth Eugene, 77, of Tucson, died Saturday, February 8, 1997. PASCHALL, Jean Perrigo, died peacefully at home on February 7, 1997 after a short struggle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Basil 'Jim' Paschall and is also surrounded by many close and loving cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Gertrude Perrigo. Jean was born in Highland Park, Illinois where she attended Highland Park High School and Stephens College in Columbia, MO. She graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder. After spending several years in the Chicago area and Central City, Colorado, she moved to Tucson in 1958 and was employed by the 49er Guest Ranch where she met her husband. Jean and Jim were married in 1960 and have been active for many years breeding and showing Quarter Horses. Jean was an original member of the Southern Arizona Quarter Horse Association and also secretary of SAQHA as well as Futurity Chairman and a show committee member. She also served as a secretary for many Arabian and Quarter Horse shows. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 12, 1997 at the Episcopal Church of St. Matthew, 9071 Old Spanish Trail. REYNOLDS, Leget, 100, died February 8, 1997. Born March 24, 1896 in Charleston, Arkansas. He later moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico, where he resided for more than 50 years. Mr. Reynolds proudly served in WWI and was an active member of the V.F.W. and American Legion in Green Valley, AZ. He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Magnolia Cummings of Tucson and Mary Reynolds of Flint, MI; three granddaughters, Teresa Hubert of Gardenia, CA; Dianne Fleming of Hawthorne, CA; and Donna Price of Tucson; grandson, Larry Williams of Tucson; 11 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. STOCKTON, Scott David, Born May 4th, 1962 in Denver, Colorado. Beloved son of John D. and Patricia M. Stockton; brother of Tamara A. Stockton, Christel L. (Lorne T.) Key and uncle of Robyn J. Maleske, passed away on February 5th, 1997, after an 18 year struggle with diabetes. Scott graduated from Sabino High School in 1980. He was a Chef and talented artist. He was a history buff and enjoyed model railroading. His presence has left its mark on all those who met him. ATKINSON, Wilmerine, 79, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, died Wednesday, February 5, 1997 in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy. She is survived by her children, Tyler Nancy Atkinson, Joe Atkinson, Lynn Atkinson, Leroy Dayea; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Wilmerine and Leroy knew they had found the love of their life when they were just kids during the Depression in Alvarado and Grandview, Texas. They married at 17 and 19 and moved with her family to New Mexico. Together they learned the trading post business and Indian Arts and culture. Leroy spoke fluent Navajo. Wilmerine worked by his side, bore four children and adopted a Navajo child. They moved to Tucson in the 50's and ran Indian art stores. In the 70's they returned to New Mexico. They are together again. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 1997 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. DELFS, Doris B., 85, died February 7, 1997. Preceded in death by husband, George J. Delfs and son, Gerald and infant daughter, Arlene. Survived by son, Robert G. EICKHOFF, Sr. Mary Elizabeth, a cherished and devoted Sister of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, entered the Kingdom of God on December 25, 1996. Eleanore Eickhoff was born on December 28, 1913 and received her habit on March 19, 1933. Sister Mary E. or 'Aunty' had a long history of teaching and administration in California and Arizona. She spent many years at St. Ambrose School. In later years she provided volunteer child care at Casa de los Ninos and St. Joseph Hospital’s Casita Jose. She was a loving, caring and gentle person who brought smiles to her students and friends. A memorial prayer service will be held at 2:00 pm. on Sunday, February 9, 1997 at the Benedictine Convent, 800 N. Country Club Road, Tucson. Reception will follow. MYSLICKI, Helen, 76, died in her sleep February 6th, 1997 with her family all around her. She lived a full and happy life and did many things during her lifetime to positively affect others all over the world. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stefan Myslicki and Beth Gottschall of Los Gatos, CA and her daughter and son-in-law, Andrea Myslicki and William Dickerson of Arlington, VA, along with her two loving grandchildren, Laura Elizabeth and Will Leopold Dickerson, that were the light of her life. Her husband, Leopold predeceased her in 1981. She is also survived by her sister, Anona Hales of San Diego, CA and brother, Harvey Jackins of Seattle, WA, along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born Helen Caroline Dorothea Jackins in 1920 near the small community of Spirit Lake, ID on a farm that her father had homesteaded. She attended schools in Fertile, MN and Glasgow, MT and graduated from high school in Seattle, WA. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Washington in Seattle and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa society there. She obtained her PhD in microbiology from the University of CA in Berkeley, CA and was active in the Graduate Student Association there with Robert and Frank Oppenheimer among other notables. She arrived in Tucson almost 50 years ago to teach at the University of Arizona. She met her future husband, Leo Myslicki at a Friends of Music Chamber Music Society concert when they had adjoining seats and they were married in 1950. After her stint at the U of A, she was an executive with Infilco, a wastewater treatment engineering company then headquartered in Tucson. In her later years, she was a tireless supporter of education, particularly for the disadvantaged and minorities, and tutored many children and young adults from all walks of life. She also worked with numerous scholars from the People’s Republic of China studying at the U of A. She spent two three month periods in China instructing both university students and ordinary workers in English. The first period was in 1982 at the Nanjing (Nanking) Technical Institute and the second time in 1985 at the Lanzhou Institute of Plateau Atmospheric Physics at the edge of the Gobi desert in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, China. Helen was a life member of the NAACP and was an dearly supporter of the US China Friendship Association in the 1980's. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the ACLU along with AARP, the Nature Conservancy and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tucson. She also was a member of both the Arizona and Tucson Consumers Council, organizations founded in part by her late husband. A celebration and reflection of her life will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tucson, 4831 E. 22nd St. at 11:00 a.m.Saturday, February 15th. Donations in her memory are suggested to the Leo Myslicki Consumer Education Scholarship Fund at the University of Arizona, the NAACP Education Fund or the Arizona Friends of Music Chamber Music Society.
