NUTTALL, John Howard, 86, of Tucson, died May 19, 1997. Survived by his daughter, Pamela (Patrick) Neuenschwander of Tucson; grandchildren, David Vest, Dwight Vest and Marie Vest, all of Tucson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William V. (Joan) Horstmann of Tucson; nephews, William Horstmann of Anchorage, AK, James Horstmann of Tucson; nieces, Linda (Gary) Augenstein, Susie Pierce and Marily Horstmann, all of Tucson. Predeceased by his wife, Catherine M. Nuttall on September 3, 1995. Mr. Nuttall was a 50 year member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 741. Service, Thursday, 1:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY, with Associate Pastor, Dana Metcalf, Victory Assembly of God Church officiating. Interment to follow, Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, noon until time of service, EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile.

ROSS, Adelaide 'Lila', 76, of Tucson, died May 14, 1997. From the family: We wish to express our thanks and deep appreciation for the many flowers, cards, food and words of comfort, to all our friends and relatives. Husband Robert Ross, sons, Dale and Michael and family.

SMITH, Doris L., 75, passed away to a well deserved rest May 13, 1997 after a prolonged illness. She will be missed by her three surviving children, Nancy Rupp, Lawrence Smith, Marilyn Saum and her sister Alice Rinaldo. She is survived by eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Keith E. Smith, may they rest in peace together now. There will be a private scattering of Keith’s and Doris’ ashes in the Corona Desert area they both loved so well.

WILLIAMS, Charles Augustus, 91, died April 29, 1997 at Tucson Medical Center. Born April 20, 1906 in Toledo, Ohio, son of Edgar Manier and Olivia Aileen (Tennant) Williams. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters Emily Williams and Annabelle (Clarence) Deuell; great-granddaughter Sarah Brooke Burney; and wife of 66 years Myrtle Elizabeth (Deuell) Williams. Survived by only child Richard A. (Barbara) of Fairhope, AL; grandson Richard A., Jr; granddaughter Marcia E. (William R.) Burney; great-granddaughter Ashley Ann Williams, all of Tucson; nieces and nephews. Following cremation internment beside wife was a Christian Memorial Cemetery in Rochester Hills, Michigan..

BENTLEY, Joan D., 97, born in England, died in Tucson May 20, 1997. She is survived by her nephew: John (Virginia) Pershing of Missouri, and many friends. She was a longtime resident of Tucson and was very active in the Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Ross Hayslip officiating. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

BURKE, Grace Louise, 83, of Tucson, AZ, died May 17, 1997. Survived by Alice, David, Lynn Wittman; cousins, George Dorsam; nephew, David, J.J. and Virginia Sellen; adopted grandchildren, friends and family of faith at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. Affiliations: member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, active artist and supporter of the arts.Services are to be held Wednesday, May 21, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Jeffray S. DEANDA, Consuelo B., 68, of Tucson, born in Hanover, NM, has gone into peace with the Lord on May 19, 1997. Preceded in death by Panfilo Becerra, Dolores Carrillo. Survived by husband, Julio Deanda; son Richard (Carmen) Sanchez; sisters: Rosa Rangel, Socorro (Gustavo) Esquivel, Maria (Louis) Rosendes and Esperanza Abril; brothers: Felipe Becerra, Vicente (Alice) Becerra, Jose (Victoria) Becerra, Ventura Becerra and Jesus (Nena) Becerra, Santiago 'Jimmy' Conway and Manuel Conway; grandchildren: Valerie, Richard and Laurie. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 1997 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Friday, May 23, 1997 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Monica’s Church, 212 W. Medina. Internment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. DEMARCO, Jack, age 74, of Tucson, died May 20, 1997. Survivors include: wife, Jackie; children, Roy Keith DeMarco, Louisiana, Shirley (Tony Bracamonte) DeMarco, Tucson, Jacquelyn (Norris) West, Green Valley, Russell (Kim Slack) DeMarco, Tucson, Irene (Danny) Armstrong, Virginia; sisters, Edna Weiss, Las Vegas, Beatrice Marotto, New York and Jacqueline Robenolt, Tucson; brother Nick DeMarco, New York; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at Resurrection Episcopal Church, 7110 S. 12th Ave, Thursday, May 22 at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Herman J. White. EVANS, George D. Jr., 72, of Tucson, formerly of Canton, Ohio, died May 17, 1997. Preceded in death by his devoted wife, Jacquelyn. Survived by his son, Frank(Wanda), and grandchildren, Aimee and Jeremy of Tucson. Also survived by sisters Florence 'Babe' Strebel of N. Canton, Ohio, and Shirley Byers of Daytona Beach, Fl. George was a veteran of the US Navy and a graduate of Kent State University. He was a retiree of the US Postal Service and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Interment will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park and Memory Gardens in Canton, Ohio. In loving memory, please make your remembrance by way of a donation to the American Cancer Society. FIAK, Carl Ronald, age 80, of Tucson, died May 20, 1997. Survivors include: wife, Thelma; daughters, Lynda Messner and her husband Michael and daughter Lindsey, and Sandra Brazelton and her husband Michael; three other granddaughters and six great-grandchildren. HALL, Arlena D., age 91, of Tucson, died Sunday, May 18, 1997. Survived by five children, Lenora (John) Pusta of Ohio, Virginia Lee Joseph of California, Leah Carolyn (Vintor) Bruflat of South Dakota, James W. (Jerilee) Hall of Missouri, Dale E. Hall of Tucson; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Harry DeWees of West Virginia. Predeceased by her husband, Ralph and daughter, Nadine. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., today at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Funeral Service, 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 19, 1997 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY. Pastor Kenneth Nickell of manor Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.

KOTEL, Edmund A., of Tucson, died peacefully at his home on May 19, 1997 at the age of 77. Originally from Milbury, MA and later Hoffman Estates, IL, he retired to Tucson with his wife in 1987. His memory and spirit will be carried forward by his wife of 46 years, Hazel; three sons, Mike (Kathy), Ron and Rod (Lorri), six grandchildren, Melissa, Erin, Rachel, Kimberly, Adam and Zachary; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Marcus. Friends may call on the family at the HEATHER MORTUARY CHAPELS, 1040 N. Columbus, Tucson, AZ on May 21 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a memorial service planned for 6:00 p.m. (In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Carondelet Hospice Services, 1802 W. OLSEN, Albert P., 71, died May 19, 1997. Survived by several cousins. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 21 at BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Mass will be offered 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 22 at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 S. Stone. Donations may be made to the Maintenance Fund at St. Augustine Cathedral. In Loving Memory of Lois Pauline Posey - Age 69. Born to eternal life May 19, 1997. Beloved wife of George (deceased). Beloved mother of Laura Wirta (Richard), Gregory Posey (Anita), Jeffrey Posey (Maria Luise), Pamela Williams, Michele Woppert (James), Mary Fromstein (Jeff). Also survived by 16 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Further survived by sister Patricia and other relatives and friends in Christ. Burial at later date in Merrill, WI.

RUIZ, Joseph J. 'Che', 85, of Tucson, passed away May 17, 1997. Survived by sister, Carmen Duarte; brother, Fred J. Ruiz; also many nieces and nephews. Mr. Ruiz was one of the original volunteer fire fighters of South Tucson and master mechanic for over 60 years. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 1997 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Friday, May 23, 1997 at Santa Cruz Church, 1220 S. 6th Ave. at 9:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY.

SMITH, Elizabeth V., 79, of Tucson, died May 17, 1997. Loving mother of daughters: Judy (John) Gates of Demotte, Ind. and Kris Smith of Tucson. She is survived by sisters: Gertrude Wissler of Nevada, Virginia Boyd, Ohio, and Lucilla Murphy, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband: George in 1984. Services will be held in California. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Joseph’s Hospice.

He is survived by his wife, Janita; son, Vincent (Ana); granddaughter, Nicole; brother, Jose Valenzuela and niece and nephew, Carlotta and Jesus Gaona as well as many other family members. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. at St. Nicholas Center Chapel, 349 W. 31st St., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 1997. A Mass will follow on May 23, 1997 at 8:00 a.m. at Cristo Rey Church, 4821 W. Calle Vicam. Burial will be at Mt. Calvario Cemetery. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.
