CERVANTES, Alfonso H. 'Al', 81, of Tucson, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 1997. Preceded in death by daughter, Gloria. Beloved husband of Esperanza 'Hope' for 53 years. Also survived by loving family: daughter, Evelyn (Chris) Brown; grandsons, Scott and Paul Brown; sisters, Amparo Duran, Carmen Muir, Adelina (George) Hall, Edissa (Charles) Simpson; brother, Mike Cervantes; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Alfonso was born and raised in Tucson and only left to serve his country in WWII. He worked at Hughes Aircraft for 30 years before retiring in 1980. CROCKETT, Robert Jeremiah Jr., age 76, passed away on Friday, May 16, 1997 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born on September 19, 1920 in Newark, NJ. He is survived by loving wife and constant companion of 51 years, Jeannette L.; loving sons, Robert III (Jane) of Cloudcroft, NM, David Paul (Mary) of Palm Coast, FL and Russell David of Tucson; loving daughters, Jeanne-Marie (Patrick Alarid) Crockett of Las Vegas, NM and Sharon Ann (Gary) Baschore of Renfrew, PA and grandchildren, Keith, Kris and Kory Crockett, Evan and Derek Baschore, Leo, Roderick, Edward and Elizabeth Villareal and Victoria Moresco. Also survived by sister, Ruth Van Giezen and her children, Charles, Nancy and Mary; niece, Sue Ann Russum and her children, Bo and Memphis; niece, Frances (Hugh) Keiser and her children, Dena, Kerry and Tara. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna O’Brien and Robert Jeremiah Crockett, Sr.; son, Ronald and sister, Phyllis Russunt. Staff Sergeant Robert Crockett served during World War II in the 389th Squadron of the Army Air Corps in Europe, where he was listed MIA. He was an active member of the V.F.W. Post 4903, the DAV Cactus 2 Chapter and the B.P.O.E. Lodge 2663 in Tucson and the American Legion Post 0038 in Ft. Meyers, FL. He graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ in 1937 and attended the University of Arizona and Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ. A custom builder, he built homes in Tucson, AZ, New Jersey and St. Correct, N.S. Virgin Islands before retiring to Tucson in 1972. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. HAMON, Eugene Lawton, Lt. Col. (USMC) Ret., of Tucson, AZ, born in Grayson, KY on July 4, 1919 and died on Thursday, May 15, 1997 after a brief illness. Survivors include: wife, Lindsay Patricia; two daughters, Jeanie Lynn Hamon, (Philip R. Kunz) and Patricia Lee Cain; grandson, Joel Hamon Vaughn; granddaughter, Tricia Lee Cain; great-grandson, Stefan Jules Cain; brothers, Elton Hamon (Edna) and Arthur (deceased) Hamon (Harriet); sisters, Ruby Clark (John), Mary Jo Carson (John) and Iva Melvin (James) and numerous other relatives, most of whom are living in other states and in New Zealand. Lt. Col. Hamon enlisted in the Marine Corps after graduating from high school and went through boot camp in Paris Island, SC. From there he was stationed in the Philippines, China and Ireland before WWII. He went to Guadalcanal with officer candidate pins. He was stationed in many different countries during WWII and retired as Lt. Col. after 20 years of loyal service to his country. He received a Purple Heart. The Hamon’s moved to Nokesville, VA after leaving the military and lived there for 18 years. Eugene was a master Mason in Grayson, KY and a member of Ruritan in Nokesville, VA. They moved to Tucson, AZ in 1983 and have lived here since. Eugene is much loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and his faithful dog Beau. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 22 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 9071 E. Old Spanish Trail. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in the name of Eugene L. TIM, Ingeborg Marie, age 94, died of natural causes Friday, May 16, 1997. She is survived by her sister, Gunvor (Lillian) Hansen; three daughters, Lillian East, Myrna Haley and Verlin Bond; by 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Tim, an LPN, had in earlier years been president of the Western Slopes Nursing Home Association of Colorado. A Memorial Service was held at the Community of Hope Lutheran Church at 5:30, Monday afternoon, May 19. Services were conducted by Pastor David Drum.
