Robert (Robby) Bernal, 16 yrs passed away on June 4th, 2002 in Dome Valley, AZ. He was born on June 21, 1985 in San Luis, Mexico.
Robby worked as a JTPA student last summer and worked for his Uncle as horse stable help.
He was a junior at Yuma High School. He was in choralaires, and Arcoiris in Somerton Youthgroup leader. He also did football, piano, guitar, poetry and singing. He received a military award for a high ASVAP score.
Robert is survived by his Father and Mother Robert and Ana Bernal of Dome Valley. Sisters Lizeth Lopez of Phoenix, AZ, Edith Lopez of Santa Ana, California, Brenda Lopez, Vanessa Bernal and April Bernal all of Dome Valley.
He was preceded in death by his Grandfather and Grandmother Antonio and Teresa Lopez and Cousin Luis Alfonso Lopez.
Visitation on Saturday, June 8, 2002will be at St. Francis Church from 7pm-9pm with Rosary at 7pm. Visitation on Sunday, June 9, 2002 will be at Sunset Vista Funeral Home from 10am-5pm.
Funeral services will be at St. Francis Church on Monday, June 10, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. and Father Thomas will officiate.
Final resting place will be Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Alex & Rick Ortega, Luis Antonio Lopez, Arturo Juarez, Jr., Jerry Ruiz, Gilbert Salazar.
Honorary pallbearers are Mario Bernal, Agustin Bernal, Chance Garcia, Cris Salazar and Mauricio Aguilar.

Herman Steven Flame
Herman Flame passed away on June 4, 2002. He was born in Ft. Yuma, CA on July 1, 1942.
Herman was a Vietnam Veteran who was wounded in battle. Herman was a lifelong resident of Ft. Yuma and a Quechan Tribal Member. He worked with the San Pasqual Valley Unified School District, Quechan Security, and most recently maintenance/assistant manager at Laguna Dam RV Park, Quechan Tribe.
He is survived by brothers, Sydney Flame of Denver, CO. Warren Flameand Lorenzo Thomas of Ft Yuma; sisters, Celestine (Sally) Rhodd of Ponca City, OK.Belinda Lopez of Phoenix, AZ and a loving family of cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Herman is preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Flame Thomas; brother, Ramsey Flame and sister, Retha Thomas.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 7, 2002 at 4:00pm at the Calvary Assembly of God in Winterhaven, CA. Tribal Rites to be held Saturday, June 8, 2002 at 5:00am.

Scott A. Hoelzer
Scott A. Hoelzer of Yuma passed away June 4, 2002, at St Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix.He was born 1/9/66 in Milwaukee, WI. Scott is survived by his parents; Allen and Alexis Hoelzer, of Waukesha, WI; brother Mike and sister Terri also of Wisconsin.
He was employed by Sikorsky Support Services, Inc. at VMFT-401, Marine Corps Air Station Yuma as an Aeronautical Equipment Welder on F-5 aircraft and had been employed there since 1992. He served in the USMC from 1984-1988.

William Henry Allen Jr.
William Henry Allen Jr., 67, of Yuma, died June 2, 2002, at his home.
Born Aug. 6, 1934, in Birmingham, Ala., he retired as a major from the U.S. Marine Corps.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson Mortuary. The funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church, with entombment following in Desert Lawn Memorial Park.

Luciano B. Valenzuela, 37, of Somerton, died June 3, 2002, at Yuma Regional Medical Center.
An agricultural laborer, he was born Jan. 8, 1965, in San Luis Rio Colorado, Son.
Services will be held in San Luis Rio Colorado, and burial will be in Panteon de Municipal there.

Beatrice Ann Jones
Beatrice Ann Jones, 75, of Yuma, AZ passed away June 02, 2002 at Yuma Regional Medical Center. She was born in Kearny, NJ. on May 27, 1927.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, William F. Jones. Sons, Glenn Snyder of Wellton, AZ, Thomas Snyder, Oxford, NJ. Daughters, Donna Sion of Lake Elsinore, CA and Lonna Dudley, Lexington, VA. Sisters, Ida Twist of Fair Haven, NJ. Barbara Jarvis of Trenton, NJ and Beverly Johnson of Roanoke, VA. 10 grandchildren and 6 great - grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her son Carl D. Snyder, Brother Donald Mac Donald and her parents Kenneth and Beatrice Macdonald of Kearny, NJ.

Edward Joseph Welsh, Jr.
Edward Joseph Welsh, Jr., 77, passed away May 28, 2002 at home in Yuma, Az. He was born November 17, 1924 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Mr. Welsh was an Adult Probation Officer for Fulton County, Ga., manager of TV and radio shop; Chief Pilot and Chief Flight Instructor. He served many years in the Civil Air Patrol and was Commander of the Yuma Squadron. He was very active in the Masons and served as Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templer of Arizona. He was a member of the Imperial Senate of Sovereigns of the United Grand Imperial Council of Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine, and he was an honorary member of the Grand York Rite of California.
Mr. Welsh served in The U.S. Navy from July 1942 to January 1946. He was honorably discharged as Signalman 1st Class. He attended the University of Georgia, Emory University, Atlanta Law School and Arizona Western College.
Survivors include; his wife Gertrude Walker Welsh of Yuma, Az., daughter Nancy Verschoor of Maricopa, Az., son, John Welsh of Yuma, Az., daughter, Gail Ludwick of Austin, Tx., son, James Welsh of St. Helena, Ca., brother, Robert M. Welsh of Orlando, Fl., sister, BeNette Raganof Marietta, Ga., 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Monday, June 3, 2002 at Johnson Chapel at 3:00 p.m. After cremation, his ashes will be scattered over the Chocolate Mountains.

Harold Otto Laabs
Harold Otto Laabs, 85, passed away May 29, 2002 in Yuma, Az. He was born July 14, 1916 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He was employed as Journeyman Plumber. Mr. Laabs served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945 serving in European Theater. He graduated from Waupaca High School in 1936. Mr. Laabs was a member of V.F.W., Yuma Police Reserves 1957- 1967, and a member of U.A. Local 469 for 55 years.
Survivors include; his wife Reba Laabs of Yuma, Az., sons, Lee Laabs of Chula Vista, Ca., and Steve Laabs of Ventura, Ca., brothers, John Laabs and Gordon Laabs both of Wautoma, Wi., sisters, Lois Hedbany of Amherst Jct. Wi. and Alice Yenter of Rosholt, Wi., 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Mr. Laabs was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Effie Laabs and brother, Donald Laabs.
Graveside services will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at 9:00 a.m.
Teresa Ruiz Gomez
Teresa Ruiz Gomez, 73, of Yuma, died May 29, 2002 in Yuma Regional Medical Center.
Employed in a nursery for agriculture, she was born Nov. 17, 1928, in Mexicali.
A wake will be 2 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., Sunday at Johnson Mortuary. The funeral will be 9 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
