KENNEDY, Penny. At her request, no services are planned for Penny E. Kennedy, 52, of Vandenberg Air Force Base. Inurnment will be private. Mrs. Kennedy was born December 1, 1944 in Washington, D.C. She worked as a registered nurse for 16 years and was employed with the Veterans Administration Hospitals and Kino Community Hospital, both in Tucson, AZ. She also taught Lamaze classes. She was a member of the Yuma Jaycees and the Equine 4-H Club in Yuma and Tucson. She moved to Lompoc in 1993 from Tucson and was a member of the Lompoc Third Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a foster parent and friend for many years to numerous children and touched the lives of many people. She especially loved horses and taught others to love them too. She died Wednesday, April 30, 1997 at Lompoc District Hospital. Survivors include daughters, Jamie Samuelson of Santa Ynez, Carrie A. Pritchard of Tucson and Frances Forman of Porterville, CA, Debbie Jones of Canyon Country, CA and Milbrie Porter of Yuma; son, William H. Kennedy of Vandenberg Air Force Base; sisters, Joyce R. McLarty of Coralville, IA and Pamela J. Wilson of Napa, CA; 10 grandchildren; three nieces; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Earl Kennedy. O’HARA, Mabel C. Died at El Dorado Hospital April 29, 1997. She is survived by her loving husband, Lt. Col. Joseph J. O’Hara, USAF (Ret.). They were married in the Fort Bliss Chapel, TX on May 4, 1946. Mabel was born to Cleveland A. and Carrie (Hansen) Eller in Tennessee Ridge, TN. Mabel’s surviving children and grandchildren are Tim and Robin O’Hara (Ryan and Brendan) of San Luis Obispo, CA; Jeff and Karyn O’Hara of Santa Barbara, CA; Lt. Col. Ray and Terry (O’Hara) Matthews (Ralph, Tristan and Claire) Ft. Riley, KS; Steve and Caroline O’Hara, Tucson. She is also survived by brothers Eugene Eller, CO and Glenn Eller, CO and sister Betty Russelavage, CO, and nine nieces and eleven nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary D. Clamp, of CO. Mabel’s greatest interests were her home, family and friends. Her talents were apparent in decorating, ceramics, quilting, landscaping and gardening. Her hobby was golf until she was crippled by arthritis. She continued to love the outdoors and doing for others. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Frances de Sales Church at 1:00 p.m. May 5, 1997. COWLEY, William 'Bill', 44, died of cancer April 27, 1997.
