Alton 'Wash' Washington, Sr., Msgt., Ret., USAF, veteran of 27 years, age 68, of Tucson, passed away July 18, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Joan Washington of Tucson; children, Teresa (Bernard) Plaskett of Las Vegas, NV; Alton Washington, Jr. of Tucson, Gary (Luzelva) Washington of Tucson, Cynthia Washington of Mesa, AZ, Sheri L. (James) Riley of Chandler, AZ; sisters, Bernice Hitts of Louisiana, Mary Lee Whittsley of California and father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lindley of Texas; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Washington was a member of Pima Masonic Lodge #10, Scimitar #108, Noah Consistory #55. He was a trustee of Arizona Grand Masonic Lodge as well as DAV #2 and VFW Post #10419. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 23, 1997 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 24, 1997 at DMAF Base Chapel #1 with Burial to follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery with full military honors by Davis-Monthan Honor Guard.

Salvatore Chirco, 91, of Tucson, passed away July 18, 1997. Survived by his beloved wife, Josephine; sons, Michael (Lana) of Shelby Township, MI; Santo (Rose) of Tucson, AZ; Anthony (Angela) of Rochester, MI; grandchildren, Josephine (Carl) Munaco; Jackie (Steve) Cogswell; Maria (Dominic) Moceri; Michele (Greg) Fornari; Josephine (Howard) Mortenson; Roseanne (Jay) Pancost; Salvatore (Angie) Chirco; Joseph Chirco; Michael (Michelle) Chirco; Josephine (Sam) Munaco; Francesca (Mario) Sanchez; Gina (Juan) Garduno; Salvatore (Stella) Chirco; Gasper Chirco; and 23 great-grandchildren. He will remain forever in our thoughts and hearts. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20, 1997 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Monday, July 21, 1997 at 10:00 a.m., St. Frances de Sales Catholic Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco. Entombment will follow at TMP East Lawn Mausoleum.

DOUGLASS, James English, 42, of Tucson, died July 17, 1997. Preceded in death by father, James E. Douglass; he is survived by son, Devin; mother, Irene Douglass of Ajo; longtime friend Deborah 'Debbie' Reardon of Tucson; sister, Merle Ann Crow of Prescott; nieces, Lara, Kim, and Lynn Thowson; and nephew, Ryan Thowson of Prescott; grandmother, Mary E. Watterscheid of NM; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tucson Monday, July 21. Services will also be held at the graveside in Mt. View Cemetery, Prescott, AZ, Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Devin Douglass Educational Fund, 917 E. Pastime Rd., Tucson, AZ 85719. Services were conducted by VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd (327-6341).

Wade Thomas Martin, 42, died July 18, 1997. Survived by his wife, Millie; daughters, Billie of Tucson; Jessica of OH; son, Jesse of Tucson; mother, Juanita Martin of TX; sister, Kay Naujoks; niece, Fawn Naujoks; and nephews, Marty and Michael Naujoks, all of Tucson. Wade will be missed in the music world. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, 1997 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, with Father Mike Martinez officiating. MCCOY, Violet L. (Tegarden), 88, born in Bloomington, IN, died July 11, 1997 in California. Preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Tegarden and son, Fred Tegarden. Survived by husband, Damon 'Dick' McCoy; son, Ken (Jane) Tegarden; daughter, Frances (Harry) Johnson; stepsons, Harold (Peggy) McCoy and Carl (Carol) McCoy and stepdaughter, Doris (Bob) Schmidt; grandchildren, Fred (Kathy) and Jim (Lisa) Tegarden, Susan (Omar) Palacios, Beth (Doug) Brinkley, Babs and Chris (Jan) Johnson; eight great-grandchildren. Violet was an active member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority for over 60 years. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 1997 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 4, 1997 at Saguaro Christian Church, 8302 E. Broadway, with Dr. Dennis Williams officiating. MOULTON, LaRayne R., 72, of Tucson, died July 19, 1997. She is survived by her husband, Jose P. Lucero; brothers, Steve (Marie) Moulton, Mack (Nancy) Moulton, all of Kerrville, TX; sister-in-law, Janice Moulton of Portland, OR; numerous nieces and nephews including Tina (Joe) Betancourt of Marana. Graveside Service Wednesday, 1:00 p.m., Evergreen Cemetery, Rev. Edward L. Eddy officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Family Care, 1920 W. ROSS, Renee, 86, of Tucson, died December 21, 1996. Renee S. Ross (Schaefer) was born June 1, 1910 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Renee received a Nursing Degree from the University of Minnesota and worked as a nurse in Minneapolis. After her graduation she moved to Tucson in May of 1961 with her husband, John B. Ross who preceded her in death in April of 1974. She had no children and is survived by her sister, Louise McCahill of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Memorial will be at St. Philips in the Hills Episcopal Church, on Monday, 11:30 a.m. January 13, 1996, with Rev. Peter Cheney officiating. Interment will be private. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

SZABLINSKI, Richard J., 40, of Tucson, died July 18, 1997. Survived by his parents, William A. and Lillian F. Szablinski of Tucson; brother, Edward Szablinski of Tucson; niece, Jocelyn Szablinski; nephew, Eric Szablinski; many uncles, aunts, and cousins. BARNETT, Captain Roy L., 88, of Tucson, died July 15, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Blanche; stepdaughter, Sigrid Settle; stepson, Theodore Wischhusen; grandchildren, Amber and Chad Settle and Hugh and Theo Wischhusen. BROOKS, Delia, 63, of Texas, passed away July 16, 1997. Survived by her husband, Donald Brooks; mother, Dolores Brennan; daughter, Donna Brooks of Richland Hills, TX; sons, Eddie of Watauga, TX and Robert Brooks of Richland Hills, TX; sister, Catalina Decker; stepsister, Edna Menchaca; brothers, Lalito and Tito Guerrero; stepbrothers, Patrick Brennan and Mario Guerrero. She was a loving and compassionate, wife, mother and friend who remains forever in our hearts. JENSEN, Carol of Tucson, passed away July 17, 1997. Survived by beloved husband, Richard; sister, Barbara Krening; brother-in-law, John Jensen; nephews, Daniel and Douglas Krening; niece, Rhonda Thatcher and numerous friends. Carol was a long time active member of several United Methodist Churches. She also spent a large amount of time volunteering for the Foundation for Blind Children. CAMOU, Beatriz Morales, born in Guaymas, Sonora on November 1 and died July 15, 1997. Raised and reared in Los Angeles, CA. She lived in Douglas, AZ all of her adult life except for the last eight years, when she moved to Tucson, AZ. She is survived by one sister, Amelia (Morales) Cannon; the following nephews and nieces, Jose Alfonso Morales Pavlovich, Ruben Morales Pavlovich, Robert Lee Cannon Morales, Alfonso Varela Morales, Ruben Varela Morales, Rene Morales King, Lourdes (Ramonet) Morales, Laila Jean Cannon, Irma (Hernandez) Cannon, Aglae (Yeager) Varela, Lorraine Morales and many grandnephews and nieces. Preceded in death by beloved brothers and sister, Alfonso, Rene, Luis, Ruben and Aglae (Varela) Morales Camou and nephews, Rafael Varela Morales and Rene Morales Pavlovich. Services will be at Immaculate Conception Church in Douglas, AZ. Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 1997. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 1997. CHAN, Yin Yick, 72, of Tucson, died July 17, 1997. Survived by wife, So Ying; sons, Tak Wah of California, Steven of New Jersey, Dennis and Tak Tong, both of Tucson; daughters, Yim Ngan Loo of New Jersey and five grandchildren. FLANNAGAN, William Joseph, 53, passed away July 15, 1997. He was born August 19, 1943 in Tucson. Bill graduated from the University of Kansas, B.A., M.B.A. and in 1967 he began a long career with IBM. He successfully designed and implemented many systems and applications programs. He was awarded an outstanding technical achievement award for software development and was issued two patents for his work. His technical writings were featured in computer manuals and publications. He recently worked for Science Applications International Corporation. He was an avid University of Arizona basketball fan. Bill is survived by his wife, Elaine and son, Ryan of Tucson; parents, John and Virginia Flannagan of Scott City, KS; brother, John T.(Carole) Flannagan of Olathe, KS; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Colin. Bill will be genuinely missed by all who knew and worked with him. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Catalina United Methodist Church, 2700 E. Speedway, Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the TMC Hospice, 5301 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

GHAJARI, Ahmad Torghabeh, 53, of Tucson, died July 16, 1997. Survived by wife, Malihe Vaziri Ghajari of Tucson; children, Afra Vaziri Ghajari, Afrooz Vaziri Ghajari, both of Tucson and Satya Miller of Ireland; two brothers, three sisters, and grandson, Christopher Ali Miller. Graveside Service was Thursday in the Islamic Section of All Faiths Cemetery. Memorial Service will be held in the family residence, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday evening. HOLZMAN, William L., 94, of Tucson, died July 17, 1997. Survivors include his wife, Sarah; daughter, Gloria Lau; son, Harold (Annie) Holzman; stepchildren, Carolyn (Bobby) Henson, Donald Eppley, Nellie (Larry) Loftis, Phillip (Geraldine) Eppley and Fred (Betty) Eppley; 22 grandchildren; two sisters, Lydia and Louise and two brothers, Martin and Herburt of Wisconsin. William was a popular folk artist whose creations in wood can be found in many homes across the country. Friends may call at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. THOMPSON, Dr. Fannie C., 84, of Tucson, passed away July 13, 1997. Survived by stepdaughter, Lucresia White of California; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Dr. Thompson was past president of the Women’s Auxiliary of the National Baptist Convention of America. She was a National Field worker for five states for over 16 years. She was an active missionary worker throughout the world. Visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 21 at First Southern Baptist Church, 445 E. Speedway. Interment to follow at South Lawn Cemetery.
