Ramon M. Trejo, Born September 7, 1911, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 1997. Preceded in death by his wife, Angelita Leon Trejo; parents, Gabriel and Rosario Trejo. Survived by daughter, Betty T. Moreno; son, Ray (Theresa) Trejo; grandsons, Anthony Moreno, Michael and John Trejo; and sister, Josephina T. McCormick. Ramon served his country in World War II. After returning he worked for Laos Transit Center, he also drove a bus for preschoolers and bussed workers to Magma Mine. He enjoyed to do all kinds of work. He leaves many other relatives and friends. We will miss him, he was a good and kind man and a loving father and tata. Lt. Col. Charlotte R. Rodeman ANC (RET), age 84, of Tucson, passed away September 19, 1997. She was a retired Lt. Col. in the Army Nurse Corps. She received her Masters degree from Columbia University where she wrote the original handbook on psychiatric nursing in the Army. She served in WWII in SE Asia and in Germany. After the war, she worked in various Ohio State psychiatric hospitals. She was a past president of St. Frances Cabrini Guild. She was also a past president of the Catholic Women’s Service League at Brook Army Hospital in San Antonio, TX, where she facilitated overseas adoptions for Army personnel. She was a member of theWomen Overseas Service League. She had worked for 10 years as a volunteer for St. Elizabeth’s of the Hungary Clinic. She has generously contributed to many charities. She is survived by her sister, Ruth M. Offret of Tucson; and brother, William Rodeman of Tallmadge, OH. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. SHLAUDEMAN, John Eric, 63, died September 19, 1997. Husband of Ann Shlaudeman of Tucson; father of Karen (Philip) Marchello of Belvidere, New Jersey and Karl F. Shlaudeman of Billings, Montana; brother of Mrs. William Stringfellow of Rolling Hills, California and Michael Shlaudeman of Pasadena, California; two grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shlaudeman of Casey Key, Florida. Mr. Shlaudeman was born in Evanston, Illinois on February 4, 1934. On February 9, 1965, he married Ann Meredith Helms in Pasadena, California. Mr. and Mrs. Shlaudeman had two children while they resided in Pasadena. In May of 1969 they moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas where, after one year, they moved to Tucson, Arizona, where they lived until 1980. In 1980 they moved to Willcox, Arizona where they reared their two children, Karen and Karl. In December of 1995, they returned to Tucson where Mr. Shlaudeman overcame many health problems that were associated with his paralysis, and he won a tremendous battle with cancer in 1996. Mr. Shlaudeman was a loving husband and father who will be greatly missed, but his family will be ever thankful for the time they had with him. CORTNER, Joy Cloud, 73, born February 5, 1924 in Tucson, Arizona, died in her sleep this Thursday evening, September 18, 1997 in Moss Beach, California, with her daughter, Lisa Joy Francis in attendance. Having long-suffered from lung disease, she had recently moved for her health to an auxiliary home on the sea coast near her daughter who is a health care worker. She was preceded in death by her son, Wilson Weaver ”Buddy” Waggoner. She is survived by her husband, Dr. John Wright Cortner of Tucson, AZ; her two daughters, Deborah Cloud Waggoner of Albuquerque, NM; and Lisa Joy Francis; her granddaughter, Melissa Francis of Concord, CA; and her stepdaughters, Sandra Cortner Payne and Kathleen Cortner, and Kathleen’s son, John Cortner. Joy Cortner was born Thelma Joy Cloud to Russell E. and Eva Cloud at the Old Stork’s Nest in downtown Tucson. Before she was born, her parents had moved from Oklahoma to Tucson after her father had contracted Tuberculosis. Her mother worked at the Pima County Courthouse and her father was first a trolley car conductor, then real estate broker, homesteading several hundred acres along the Catalina Mountains. Joy Cloud was a popular and well-loved girl, graduating from Tucson High School, having been an honor student and both Rodeo and Homecoming Queens. She attended the U of A as an Alpha Phi. Her mother, she, and her first husband built and operated the Saddleback Guest Ranch, located on their land near Sabino High School and the Raven Golf Course, north of Cloud Rd., named for her father. She lived her entire life in Tucson, the last 35 years with her husband, Dr. Wright Cortner. There will be a Sunrise Service on Thursday, September 25, 1997 and a Memorial for all friends of Joy and Wright at noon at the Tucson Country Club.
