HARMONY, James A., age 60, a 4 1/2 year resident of Green Valley, formerly of Indianapolis and Michigan, died September 14, 1997. Survived by wife, Judith; children, Julie (Greg) Lysinger and James Jr. both of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Nila Daubert of Saginaw, MI; brother, David Harmony of Hemlock, MI. Judge Harmony was elected to the Probate Bench in the state of Michigan in 1976 and served for 12 years. He was appointed as a United States Administrative Law Judge for the Social Security Administration in 1988 and served in Indianapolis and Tucson.Private Memorial Service, September 16, 1997 at 2:00 p.m., Green Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. HOSACK, Donald W., 84, passed away on September 14, 1997. A 50-year resident of Tucson. He was born January 29, 1913 in Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Jones Hosack; and two brothers, Clyde and Paul. He is survived by his sons, Thomas (Jacqueline) and David (Lynn); his sister, Evelyn Hildebrand; his grandchildren, James (Hope), Tina (Chris) Wittkowski, Bryan, Heather, William (Jen) and Greg; his great-grandchildren, Cameo, Breanne and Joshua. He worked with the New Testament Baptist Church Bus Ministry for over 25 years. Friends may call at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY AND CEMETERY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Thursday, September 18, 1997 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, September 19, at 9:00 a.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL.

MacCABE, Frederic, M.D., 72, died September 16, 1997 after a courageous battle with cancer. Frederic was born October 31, 1924 in Hartford, CT. and graduated from the University of Virginia College of Medicine in 1948. He came to Tucson in 1966 and worked at the Southern Arizona Mental Heath Center and Psychiatric Associates and the Palo Verde Psychiatric Hospital. He was an active member of the Southern Arizona Rescue Association, the Arizona Roadrunners and the Tucson Audubon Society. He is survived by his wife, Dorothea ”Dotsy”; and his children, Arthur B. ”Barney” of Albuqueque, NM, John of Merrimack, NH and Major (Dr.) Andrew of San Antonio, TX and Elizabeth (Steve) Barlow of Tucson; nine grandchildren; and his sister, Mrs. Joe Parks of Framingham, MA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred MacCabe of Easton, MD and his sons, James and Frederic III. Gifts to Tucson Medical Center Hospice Services and Southern Arizona Rescue Assoc. Memorial Services at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Saturday, the 20th of September, 11:00 a.m.

MORALES, Sonari Maria, 5 months, died September 13, 1997. Survived by parents, Francisco and Maria Dolores Morales; and sisters, Dora Luz and Xochitl Morales. Arrangements by BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

O’BRIEN, Margaret Reidy, died suddenly on September 13, 1997 in Tucson. Born in New York City in 1903. Beloved wife of the late John A.; devoted mother of John A. (Marjorie) of Tucson, and the late Kevin E. and Elizabeth Ann Fuoto. Survived by 13 grandchildren including John A. (Jenifer) of Tucson, Deirdre K. (Gregg) O’Brien-Montijo of Tucson and Kevin M. (Patricia) of Flagstaff; and 12 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in New York. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

PARBEL, Edward John, Jr. 57, died September 8, 1997. Arrangements by BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

Coy L. Purcell, D.O. - Born in Quanah, Oklahoma on October 31, 1911, Coy went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 15, 1997. Dr. Purcell graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1940. He was a co-founder, and first Chief of Staff, of Tucson General Hospital practicing as a General Practitioner and General Surgeon. In 1969, he pioneered a medical clinic in Oracle, AZ, where he practiced and stayed until his retirement in 1990.
Dr. Purcell was a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, a member of the Arizona Osteopathic Association, and Board Certified in Osteopathic Surgery. In World War II, he served as a medical corpsman in the Pacific Theater. He was also a lifetime member of B.P.O.E. #385.
Dr. Purcell is survived by his loving wife, Marcia; his children, Edward (Barbara) Miller, D.O., Christina McCauley, Lauren (Mike) Sanchez, R.N., Robert (Kathleen) Purcell, Pharm.D. Candidate, Rev. Jeffrey (Cynthia) Purcell, and Jennifer Purcell, C.D.A.; along with 11 grandchildren, Karen, Don, Monica, Dan, Kris, Matt, Ashley, Jessica, Breanne, infant Bobby Purcell, and Tami Batts, all of Tucson; brothers, Paul, and Lyal; nieces and nephews reside in CA.
For many years Coy was an ordained minister. ”Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
A memorial service will be held at Adair Avalon, 8090 N. Northern Avenue, on Thursday, September 18 at 1:00 p.m. for this gentleman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either Living Waters Church of Tucson, 166 E. Roger Rd., 85705, for the propagation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ or to The Coy L. Purcell, D.O. Scholarship Fund c/o The Tucson Osteopathic Medical Foundation at 4280 N.Campbell Ave, 85718.
Dr. Coy, you will be greatly missed by all whom you loved and served. Until we meet again. We Love You!

RAY, Ivan E., 72, entered into rest September 14, 1997. Survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Margaret; daughter, Brenda Edwards; one stepdaughter; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; one brother and one sister. Ivan was a member of VFW #549 and he proudly served in WWII. After his retirement in 1987, golf was a passion. Ivan worked hard all his life, but always found time to love, raise and care for many of his grandchildren. His love, support and guidance gave us a fair and good chance at a moral and decent life. Without this great man, many of us would have been lost souls. He truly made a contribution to this world with his presence. A place in our hearts will be forever empty without him, but every time we think of him, we will smile and be forever grateful for his love and the time we had to spend with him. TUA, Dominic E., 88, died September 15, 1997. Husband of Teresa Tua; father of Corrinne (Rafael) Vasquez; grandfather of Alicia, Cristina and Erik; step grandfather of Stuart Vasquez; brother of Minni Prohaska of PA; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, August, Aurelio, James, Louis and Michael. Dominic was a lifetime member of the Elk’s, American Legion and VFW. Mass will be offered 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 1997 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7651 E. Pima, with Father James Coleman officiating. Entombment to follow at Our Lady of the Desert Mausoleum. Roy A. ”Tuti” Vasquez, 52, of Tucson, departed from us to be with our Lord September 12, 1997. Beloved son, father, grandfather and brother. Survived by mother, Cruzita Gomez, and stepfather, Roy Gomez. He also left behind his beloved companion of 21 years, Yolanda Lizarraga; daughters, Maria Teresa, Cruzita, Leticia Vasquez, Elizabeth Armenta and Viola Romo; son, Roy Vasquez, Jr; stepson, Michael Cordova; sisters, Rosa May, Mary Baviche; brothers, Ramon, Pedro, Roberto Vasquez, Richard Gomez; 26 grandchildren; 12 nieces; 9 nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, 1997, from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Friday, September 19, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. VOGEL, Mary B., of Tucson, died on September 15, 1997 at the Tucson Medical Center after a long illness. Mrs. Vogel was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Harry and Loretta Braun on September 10, 1938. She and her family have lived in Tucson for the last 18 years. She had been employed by the U of A as a secretary in the Department of Family Studies. Mrs. Vogel is survived by her husband, Donald W. Vogel; mother, Loretta D. Braun of Tucson; sister, Kathleen Braun of Kannapolis, NC; and brothers, Harry L. Braun and Robert Braun of Pittsburgh, PA. She is also survived by eight nephews; four nieces; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 1997 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7651 E. Pima. ABER, Ruby Ann Savage, passed away on September 13, 1997. She was born into a pioneer family on October 10, 1910 to Charles and Elenoura Savage in Show Low, her family’s ranch. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John and siblings, Elva Woolford, Charles Jr., Aldean, Rilla, Art, Russ and Lettie Toliver Pettit. Ruby grew up in Show Low and Mesa where she was cared for by her father and grandmother Rebecca Bryan Hall. Ruby met John Aber while working for Mountain Bell Telephone Co. They married in Florence on and had three sons, Eugene (Wanda), David (Aurora) and John (Barbara); she had five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She lived in Missouri, Texas and for the last seven years in Tucson which she referred to as a ”dust bowl.” Her sense of humor and fun loving nature will be greatly missed. We will celebrate her pioneer culture and life on Thursday, September 18 with a Viewing from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Graveside Service to follow at 3:00 p.m. at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. The family wishes to thank those who helped care for her in her last years of life and to her son and daughter-in-law, David and Aurora. William I. ”Bill” Adams, longtime Tucson businessman, died Wednesday, September 10, 1997, at the age of 59. He is survived by wife, Lana J.Adams; children, Lt. Tammy Adams and Daniel Adams (Lori), stepson, Chad Olson (Marilyn); and grandchildren, Halley Adams and Dakota Olson. Born January 23, 1938, in Waterloo, Iowa, Mr. Adams moved to Arizona in the mid-1950s and is a graduate of the University of Arizona. He was General Manager of Outdoor Systems in Denver, CO for seven years before retiring to Tucson in 1994. He long will be remembered by his many friends and associates for his kindness and wonderful sense of humor. Tucsonans fondly recall his popular radio show ”Adams and Scholz” that aired in the 1970s on KHYT Radio. He also will be remembered for his commitment to the Tucson community as a founding member of the Centurions and the UA WildCat Club, and longtime member of the Tucson Conquistadores. Services will be held at St. Philips in the Hills (River and Campbell), Tuesday, September 16, at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Brewster Center: Domestic Violence Services. CHARLTON, Myra Deane, 88, of Tucson, passed away on September 7, 1997. She is survived by her son, Ray (Jane) Richardson of Missouri; grandchildren, Myra Fields, Elizabeth Chambers; six great-grandchildren. Her request was that no services would be held. Memorials in Myra’s name may be made to the Tucson Medical Center Hospice. Arrangements by VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 327-6341.

DRESHER, Jeanne, 75, of Tucson, passed away September 12, 1997. Survived by her husband, Frank of 55 years; brother, Jim; sister, Lois; four daughters, Carole, Linda, Susan and Patricia; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Private family service were held on Monday. Contributions may be made to a Parkinson’s or Cancer Research in lieu of flowers.

Leo Fox, Jr. passed away suddenly at his home on September 7, 1997. He was born on November 23, 1927 in Huntington, WV, attending schools there, graduating from Marshall University with a BA in Psychology. He served briefly in the Army and from 1951 to 1961 acted as president of Guyan Creamery in Huntington. In 1961 he and his family relocated to Tucson where he was a Personnel Analyst for Pima County until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Leo Fox, Sr. and by his beloved wife of 44 years, Nancy Wilson Fox in 1994. They were childhood friends. He is survived by his children, Cathy Fox Bergman (Eric), Johanna Turner (John), Kevin Wilson Fox (Susan Bryson) of Tucson and Barbara Brown (Dr. Martin) of Ibb, Yeman; grandchildren, Gretchen Fox, Heather Bergman of Tucson, Patricia James of Centerville, TN, Rebecca and David Fox of Tucson, Isaac, Micah, Samuel and Sara Brown of Ibb, Yeman; great-grandchildren, Nicole and Brittany James of TN; his sister, Barbara Fox Sales of Los Angeles and Tucson; nephews, Tony of Los Angeles and Hunt (Antoinette) of San Antonio, TX; their children, Tony Tyrone Sales and Valentina Sales of Cashton, WI and Cali Sales of San Antonio. Leo was a scholar and word smith enjoying scrabble and other word games, all forms of music with a keen interest in the classics. He volunteered at Sun Sounds Radio reading to the blind and in the Police reserve. He will be best remembered for his expansive personality and wonderful sense of humor and will leave an unfillable void in the lives of his family and be greatly missed by all who knew him. Leo was an active member of the Vineyard Christian Community, 625 N. 2nd Ave., where a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 20 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to TMC Hospice in his name.

JOINER, Rosita T., born April 12, 1934, died September 15, 1997. She is with God now. Beloved mother of Ralph, Bill and Richard. Beloved sister of Petra Torres. Also survived by nieces, Mary Alice Otero, Cecelia Wood, Josie Tadeo, Olga Anchondo; nephews, Esteban Jr., Frank, Peter, Robert and David Vega; many nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 1997 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held on Saturday at 9:00 a.m., at St. Monica Catholic Church. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. ”You will always be remembered and loved.”
