MILLIRON, Paul E., age 82, a 15 year resident of Tucson, passed away September 6, 1997. Born February 3, 1915, in Emerickville, Pennsylvania. Mr. Milliron was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #55. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen I. Milliron of Tucson; daughters, Patricia Moore of Russell, PA, Carolyn Bunch of Mesilla, NM, and Jo-An Hinton of Sequim, WA; numerous nieces; nephews; and grandchildren. Lyla Grace Zaspel O’Brien, one month, died September 6, 1997. ORTA, Albert Sermeno, 76, a Tucson native, died September 7, 1997. He is survived by wife, Eva C. Orta; daughters, Rosemarie C. and Elaine C. Orta; sons, Andy (Rosie), Jerry (Julie) and Eddie (Kathy) Orta, all of Tucson. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

ROBERTS, Darrell S. (Robbie), 78, of Tucson, died September 5, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Verna; son, Bill of Los Altos, CA; and sister, Mary Vunah Gillette of Albuquerque, NM. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 12 at the Vista de la Montana United Methodist Church, 3001 E. Mira Vista Lane, corner of North Oracle Road. A retired Army officer and retired school teacher, Mr. Roberts moved to Tucson in 1993 from Pebble Beach, CA. He was a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. He was five times a Worthy Patron in Eastern Star and was 1984 Grand Sentinel of the Grand Chapter of California. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a favorite charity.

WINE, Bonnie Marie, 68, of Tucson, has passed from this world to the next, September 8, 1997. NEWMAN, Rae Josephine (De Witt), 80, died September 6, 1997. She was born in Brookston, Minnesota and came to Arizona as a child. She is survived by her husband, Francis J. Newman; her son, Richard B.(Diana) Newman; three grandchildren, Richard Francis, Brent Edward and Laura Newman; and one great-grandchild, Damian. She is also survived by her brother, Joe De Witt of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and three sisters. Mrs. Newman graduated from Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Phoenix in 1939 and earned a Certificate of Public Health Nursing from Oregon School of Medicine in Portland, Oregon. She worked as a Pima County Health Nurse before and after her service in Europe as an officer in the Army’s Nurse Corp. during World War II. She will be remembered by many for her many charitable acts. At Rae’s request, no services will be held. Cremation will follow. SOTO, Edward F. 72, Miner, went to meet his Creator in Heaven, on September 5, 1997. He was born in Winkleman, Arizona on August 31, 1925. He was raised in Nogales, Arizona and came to live in Tucson in 1946. After he was in the Marine Corps Reserve Infantry, and later in the 3rd Corps 155MM Howitzer Battalion at Pelilies Island and Okinawa with the First Marine Division. He worked at San Xavier Mine and Pima Mine at Helvita Mines in the Santa Rita Mountains. He leaves his loving wife, Mary Helen Salazar Soto; and children, Jesse Joe, Victoria Marie, Edward III., and Erica Nicole; his brother, Richard Soto; and sister, Mary Barnes; other children, Mary Helen Garcia, Rosa Ortiz, Richard Soto, Steve Soto and George Soto and Melissa Moreno; and also by 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. BASSNETT, George Miller, age 84, of Catalina, AZ, died Sunday, September 7, 1997. He is survived by daughter, Margaret and her husband, Jim Burtin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son, Michael and his wife, Mary of Ada, Michigan; and daughter, Judith Bassnett of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren, Jennifer Bell and her husband, Scott, and their son, Ashton Miller; Jill Burtin; Matthew Burtin; Andrew Morgan; and Jon Morgan; sisters, Elizabeth Parker of Leyland, England; and Ida Sherlock of Bare, England. George is also survived by three sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews in Great Britain, with whom he remained very close. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; and two brothers. George was born in Askam-in-Furness, Lancashire, England. He served with the 6th Airborne Division during WWII, rising to the rank of Major. He immigrated with his family to the Chicago area in 1949. His career in sales and international marketing took him around the world. In 1983, he and his wife moved to Catalina, Arizona, where he was active in the early incorporation efforts. George was honored this year at Casas Adobes Congregational Church for 75 years of active participation in church choirs. Memorial Services will be held at Casas Adobes Congregational Church, 6801 N. Oracle Rd., Wednesday, September 10, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Smith officiating. George requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Tucson Association for the Blind, 3767 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ 85716. George was blessed with the love and fellowship of many dear friends in the Tucson area and around the world.
BENSON, Mary C., 83, passed away September 5, 1997. Preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, in 1994. Survived by her two children, Mary Lou Truman and Carl Benson; her five grandchildren, Melanie Benson, Kerry Benson, Keith Benson, Tiffany Truman, and Todd Truman; and one great-grandchild, Phoenix James Benson. She was a longtime Girl Scout Leader, as well as the Girl Scout Council, helped the United Fund, charity work for the poor in Tucson. HERING, Orme, 87, of Tucson, died September 5, 1997. Survivors include his daughter, Wendy Shalar of San Francisco; two granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters; longtime companion, Dorothy Murphy; and two step-sons, John and William Murphy. ORRISON, Jesse Eugene, 81, of Tucson, died September 6, 1997. Survivors include his beloved wife, Doris Darling Orrison; children, Wayne (Phyllis) Orrison, Kathryn S. Plumb; daughter-in-law, Cheryll Ball Orrison; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; six brothers; one sister; plus many loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Nell, and his son, Lt. Col. Stephen L. Orrison. After serving 22 years with the USAF, Jesse retired as a Major, with time served during WWII and Korea resulting in numerous decorations. He spent 23 months as a POW.
