FALKENHAGEN, Joyce Frances, 70, of Tucson, passed away August 21, 1997. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest. She is survived by her children, Timothy (Kristine) of Tucson, Thomas (Kathy) of NC; grandson, Craig; brother, Richard Schwab of MI; sister, Buela Barron of MI. Services are private. FISCHBACK, Ruth W., 84, of Tucson, died August 20, 1997. She is the widow of Alexander A. Fischback, Jr. and has resided in the Tucson area for many of the last 50 years. Her love for the mountains and cactus brought her back permanently in 1983. Ruth taught speech and lipreading to hearing handicapped children in Lakewood, CO. She loved to tease her friends and family. Mother of Suzanne F. Thompson of Denver, CO, and Alexander A. Fischback III of Melbourne, FL; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister of Martha Gordon of Naples, FL. Memorial Service Tuesday, August 26, 1997 at the Fountains, 2001 W. JEFFRIES, James E., 72, of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Atchison, KS, died August 22, 1997. Jim was born in Detroit, MI on June 1, 1925. After serving in the Army Air Corps from 1942-1945, he attended Michigan State University. He married Barbara Cray, June 21, 1947. Prior to his election to Congress representing the second district of Kansas from 1978-1982, he had been a successful businessman and investment counselor. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, Tucson, AZ; son, Jim and family, Dallas, TX; daughter Jeri Kurth and family, Atchison, KS; son, Greg and family, Tulsa, OK; eight grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 1997. MARTINEZ, Pablo S., 60, passed away August 23, 1997. Preceded in death by parents, Maurilio & Aurora Martinez; brother, Alejandro; and sister, Elvia Rodriguez. Survived by his wife, Lupita A. Martinez; mother-in-law, Virginia Almazan; children, Pablo Jr. (Christi), Miroslava (Louie) Garcia, Victor, Veronica (Ray) Ballesteros, Javier (Ramona), and Francisco (Theresa); sisters, Lupe (Andy) Carroll, Sylvia (Jose) Cedeno, Magdalena (Humberto) Valencia, and Amelia Martinez; brothers, Juan (Nellie), Xico, and Maurilio (Carmen). Also survived by ten grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 1997, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at St. Margaret’s Church, 801 N. Liza Anjela Martinez, Age 19, of Tucson, AZ, died August 21, 1997. She was loved by many and her smile will be greatly missed. Survived by parents, Armando and Irma Martinez; brother, James Martinez (Carina); sister, Cindy Martinez; nephew, James; nieces, Lissa and Jessica; grandparents, Walter and Frances Sepulveda, Ezequiel and Virginia Martinez; beloved boyfriend, Tony Sierra; many uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and best friends, Jo Marie Turlington, Cynthia Greenwalt; loving cousin, Lisa Nunez. Also survived by numerous brothers and sisters and 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. STARTZEL, Gerald, E., Jr., Lt. Col, USA Ret., born January 23, 1948, in Washington, DC, died August 23, 1997. Skip, an ASU alumnus, served in the Army 22 years as an officer in the finance corp. He was a leader and a friend to all who knew him. We will miss him greatly! Skip is survived by his wife, Janet; sons, Brian of Phoenix and Greg of Tucson; his parents, Frances and Gerald Startzel of Tucson; brother, Morris Startzel of Phoenix; sister, Kay Hanna, her husband, Larry; children, Stephen and Melissa of Tucson; grandmother, Louise Stone of AK. SWEENEY, Dossy, 70, of Tucson, AZ, went to be with the Lord on August 21, 1997. He and his wife, Elizabeth resided in Tucson for 19 years. Dossy was born in Tyler County, Alvy, W. VA. on March 5, 1927. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; son, Carl of FL; daughter, Deborah of KY; eight grandchildren; four sisters, Betty Habluetzel, Shirley Sweeney, Shelba Marshall all of Las Vegas, NV and Dorma Baker of Pensboro, W. VA. He was a great soul winner for the Lord and served Him faithfully at the Tucson Baptist Temple, as a Sunday School Teacher, and as a security guard. He was known as Barney to his friends. He earned his Doctorate of Ministry Degree at Patriot University in Colorado Springs, CO, in June, 1996. Funeral Services 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, at the BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Interment to follow at East Lawn Palm Cemetery. Friends may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 25, at the BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

TAMRAZ, Jessie N. 83, died August 23, 1997. Mother of Betsy (Randal) Holm of Tucson; sister of Helen Grieff of FL; grandson, Adam Holm of Tucson also survives. Services and interment will be in Angola, NY. Arrangements by BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

CHAPUT, Jane, died August 21, 1997 after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her husband, Paul; and three children. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus Blvd.

COLE, Emily Amanda and Heather Elizabeth, our baby girls, were stillborn on August 19, 1997. We will miss the warmth of their touch, the chorus of their voices and the patter of their feet. But their love will live forever. Their parents, Russell Eugene and Tracy Lynn Cole; maternal grandmother, Linda Keiper; paternal grandparents, Eugene and Judy Cole and Edwin and Georgia Brousseau; maternal great-grandmother, Anne Simons; paternal great-grandmother, Ethel M. Cole; aunt, Becky Anne Keiper. A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m.Saturday, August 30, 1997 at Hudgel’s SWAN FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 22nd & Swan, with Rev. John Ellis officiating.

DAVIS, Steve, born April 13, 1925 went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ August 18, 1997. Steve was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Thelma ”T.C.” Davis. Steve, the owner of The Grooming Post and Amleht Schnauzers, will be deeply missed by his Christian family at Cornerstone Fellowship, his loyal employees and his many friends. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 26 at Cornerstone Fellowship, 2902 N. Geronimo, at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve’s name may be made to the Cornerstone Fellowship Building Fund. John 11:25 Jesus said to her, ”I am the resurrection and the life. KAY, Marion Edith, died August 20, 1997 in Phoenix, AZ. Marion was born in New Haven, CT, February 20, 1917. She moved to New York at the age of four and again to California at the age of 13. In 1948, Marion moved to Tucson, AZ where she married Joe Miro Kay. Both Marion and Joe were self employed Public Accountants and belonged to various social organizations such as the Elks and the Eagles Lodges. Marion moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1988, her husband Joe preceded her in death March 11, 1991. Marion is survived by three daughters, Gay Joy Langseth of Tucson, Justina Valerie Kay of Scottsdale and Bella Denise Howard of Phoenix, as well as four grandchildren.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor has gone home to be with the Lord whom he worshiped and served faithfully for many years. He is survived by wife of 40 years, Eva Alicia; daughters, Blanca (Fernando) Lizarraga, Brenda (Jean-Pierre) Njock, Barbara (Joel) Moreno; sons, John David (Shawn) Mazon and James Matthew Mazon; grandchildren, Alisha, Ariana, Alessandra, Ariela, Jean-Pierre II, Joel II ”J.T.”, Janelle, Steven Ray, Esteban, all from Tucson. He touched many lives and we will miss him tremendously. He was proud to serve as Deacon and treasurer at Sunnyside Baptist Church. There was nothing that could be asked of him that he would not do for us or for the church he loved so dearly. Many spiritual and positive values he instilled, will remain in us forever. Especially the love he had most for our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you, Daddy, for everything and everyday of your everlasting love. All services to be held at Sunnyside Baptist Church, 1095 E. Alvord Rd. Friends may call Sunday, August 24, 1997 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 25, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Arcadio Gonzalez officiating. CORDERO, Jesus S. ”Chava” 47, died August 19, 1997. Father of Christopher J. Cordero and Jessica M. Cordero; grandfather of Gabriel R. Razo; son of Severo M. Cordero; brother of Maria ”Cookie” (Roy) Leon; uncle of Amanda E. and Michael V. Leon; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24th at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, 801 N. Grande Ave., with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered 9:00 a.m. Monday, August 25th at St. Margaret’s. Burial in Holy Hope Cemetery with full military honors by Ft. EICHORST, Catherine Ellen, 69 years old, died Thursday, August 21, 1997 in Tucson. Survived by three sons, Thomas Eichorst and James Eichorst, both of Tucson, David Eichorst of Peatone, Illinois; and eight grandchildren. Graveside Services will be held at noon Saturday, August 23, 1997 at All Faith Cemetery, 2151 S. Avenida Los Reyes, Tucson. Friends of Mrs. Eichorst may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, 881-0338. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carondelet Hospice, 1802 W. Lawrence E. Engler, Lawrence Edgar Engler (Cobb) died safe in the arms of Jesus August 8, 1997, in Tucson. He was born August 4, 1951 in Dumas, TX to Joe Sue Engler and David L. Cobb. Beloved husband of Mitzi, Dearest Dad of Jessica and Joe, Stepdad of Robert. Precious son of Joe Sue Engler and grandson of and Tommie Engler. Beloved brother of Gary (Sandee) Cobb, Mike (Tami) Cobb and Suzanne Cobb. Dearest nephew of Helen Joyce Engler, very special uncle buddy to little Michael. Also survived by five nieces, seven grand-nieces and nephews, three paternal aunts. Preceded in death by Joe Engler, grandfather, in 1983 and David L. Cobb, father, in 1984. Larry was an honors student at the U. of Arkansas until he became ill in 1994. He also had a devout interest in the Bible, Christian theology and was an avid reader. He had a zest for life, loved his family dearly and deeply loved his Savior. He had a special bond with his granddad and they enjoyed farming, irrigating, and hunting together in Arizona and Idaho. Services were held August 14, 1997 at First Church of the Nazarene in Rogers, AR. He is now rejoicing in heaven somewhere with his granddad and dad. We will miss you forever our beloved and will always hold you in our hearts. ”Cast not away your confidence which has great promise of reward. For we have need of patience that after we have done the will of God, we might receive the promise.” Larry has received his reward. For those of you who have not yet been called to heaven, please advise your family and your doctor that you will be an organ donor so that some other precious soul will live.
