KRUEGER, Lester P., age 74, died on August 16, 1997, Saturday in Tucson. He was born in Quincy, IL and a Tucson resident for the past 14 years. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ethel (Dissler), Juanita (Currens), Lillian (Duesterhaus); and brother, William. Survived by brother, Carl of Albuquerque, N.M. and sister-in-law, Mary (William) of Kettering, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Krueger enlisted in the navy in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1946. According to Mr. Krueger’s wishes, there will be no service. MONTGOMERY, Marvaline ”Marva”, 90, of Tucson, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 1997. Mrs. Montgomery was born in Boynton, Missouri on January 23, 1907. She came to Tucson from Missouri in 1985. GETTEL, Floyd, W., 67, of Tucson. He was born September 22, 1929, in Harrisburg, PA, passed away August 15, 1997, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Floyd was employed at Magma Copper Co., and retired after 36 years of service. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and co-workers. PUMA, Madeline Josephine, 73, of Lebanon, OR, died August 15, 1997 on the Solemnity of the Assumption into Heaven of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Preceded in death by her husband, John. Lebanon, OR is the home of her son, John (Margaret) Puma; daughter, Mary (Michael) Hickson; and granddaughter Elise Hickson. Her step-granddaughters, Erica and Angela Hickson are of Washington state. Our beloved Madeline is also survived by her sister; Mary (Samuel) LoMaglio of Tucson; her brothers, Patrick (Elizabeth) Crino of Tucson, and Michael (Billie) Crino of Los Angeles. SCHAPIRO, Rosemary B., 76, died Thursday, August 14, 1997 after a brief bout with cancer. R. H. (Rick) Clark, age 78, of Tucson, passed away August 13, 1997 with his family present. Born 1918, Gainsville, TX, he served two terms in the Army (52th Engineer Training Battalion, OR), receiving two honorable discharges during WWII. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 420, residing in Tucson since 1954, and a 32nd degree Mason. He is survived and sorely missed by Louise, his wife of 50 years; daughter, Donna (John) Kamper; sons, Richard (MaryLou) and Dale Clark, all of Tucson; grandchildren, Edward Haas and Tyler Clark (Tucson), Sean Torbett (OR), Wanda DeSalvo (NV), Ricky and Louise Clark (HI); sister, Hazel Sarantas (MI); and brother, Gene (CA). He specified no burial or services. His ashes will be scattered later at his favorite fishing spot. In lieu of flowers, remembrances be directed to Carondolet Hospice Service.
Katie Clark (Katrina Ann), age 9, died in a tragic auto accident in Tucson on August 13, 1997. She is missed beyond measure by her deeply caring family: her mother, Sheryl Joan Clark of Tucson; father, David Scott Clark of Atlanta, GA; sister, Danielle Breen of VA; grandparents, Robert and Bernice Gohrke of Tucson and Jeannine Clark of Pinetop, AZ; and uncles, Thomas Gohrke of Alpine, CA, Randy Clark of Tucson and Terry Mullins and Tim Mullins of AR. Katie lived her short life with great passion and zest. She loved her family and many friends. She attended Butterfield Elementary School and was an excellent, gifted student. She had a bright, independent personality. Katie had many interests and activities. She had an eclectic music taste and innovative artistic abilities. She was a great reader and a great game player. She was an enthusiastic swimmer and played in girls soccer and softball leagues. She loved traveling. She leaves behind her cat, Choco. An exceptional child, Katie understood much of life beyond her years. There will be a celebration of Katie’s life this Sunday, August 17 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Francis in the Foothills, Swan & River.Attendance by children will be especially welcomed.
