Ron Quamen

Ron Quamen, beloved husband of Pam (Rico) Quamen, passed away February 2, 2003, at his residence in Yuma, Arizona, at age 54. Born on November 24, 1948, and raised in Winona, Minnesota, Ron served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1968-1971. He graduated second in his class with a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from NAU, Flagstaff in 1975. He worked as a Field Engineer for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.

He belonged to the Yuma International Church of Christ and devoted his life to being a disciple of Christ and a devoted husband, father, and grandpa. He enjoyed archery, hunting, and golfing in his spare time.

Mr. Quamen is survived by his wife, Pam, of 32 years, of Yuma; son, Chris Quamen, of Yuma; two daughters, Kim (Eddie) Alvizo, of Glendale, Arizona; Nicole (Ubaldo) Mendivil, of Yuma; sister, Bonny (Jerry) Pettegrew, of Gilroy California; four grandchildren; aunt, Doris Ambrose, of Winona, Minnesota; and his father and mother-in-law, Ysmael and Olivia Rico, of Yuma.

A memorial service will be held at Johnson Mortuary, 1415 S. 1st Avenue, Yuma. Viewing will be Saturday, February 8, 2003 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m.Private cremation.

Phoebe Lechuga Chavez
Phoebe Lechuga Chavez, 79, of Yuma, died Feb. 2, 2003, at Yuma Regional Medical Center.

A retired homemaker, she was born Dec. 25, 1923, in Agua Prieta, Son.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Johnson Mortuary. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Johnson Mortuary. Interment will follow at Desert Lawn.

Yolanda Campos Pizano
Yolanda Campos Pizano, 47, of Los Angeles, died Feb. 1, 2003, in Vicksburg, Ariz.

Born May 26, 1955, in Mexico, she had been a homemaker.

All services will be in Guanajuato with burial in Panteon Municipal, Casacuan, Guanajuato.

Local arrangements were handled by Yuma Mortuary & Crematory.

Mary Louise Lowell
Mary Louise Lowell, 75, of Yuma, died Jan. 30, 2003, at Yuma Regional Medical Center.

A former employee of the U.S. civil service employee, she was born May 25, 1927, in Roxana, Ill.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Vista Funeral Home.

Cremation arrangements were handled by Yuma Mortuary & Crematory.

Lawrence S. Calderwood
Lawrence S. Calderwood, 99, of Yuma, died Feb. 3, 2003, at his residence.

Born Feb. 16, 1903, in Coalville, Utah, he had been an employee of the U.S. Postal Service.

No services will be held and cremation arrangements were handled by Yuma Mortuary & Crematory.

Glen Oleson
Glen Oleson, 81, of Yuma, died Feb. 1, 2003, at Yuma Regional Medical Center.

A U.S. Air Force World War II veteran and retired landscaper, he was born Nov. 9, 1921, in Faulkton, S.D.

No local services will be held and burial will be in Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, S.D.

Local arrangements were handled by Sunset Vista Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematory.

Paul Lechtenberg
Paul Lechtenberg, 74, of Yuma, died Feb. 3, 2003, at Life Care Center of Yuma.

Born May 3, 1928, in Orient, S.D., he had been a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

No services will be held at this time. Arrangements were handled by Sunset Vista Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematory.

Ron Quamen

A former field engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation, he was born Nov. 24, 1948, in Winnona, Minn.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time at 11 a.m. at Johnson Mortuary.

Alena Grace Turpin
Alena Grace Turpin, 90, of Yuma, died Feb. 3, 2003, at La Mesa Care and Rehabilitation Center of Yuma.

Born Aug. 4, 1912, in Pine Ridge, Ark., she was a retired U.S. Postal Service clerk.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Johnson Mortuary. A service follows at 1 p.m. in Desert Lawn.

Lucille Ray
Lucille Ray, 75, of Yuma, died Feb. 1, 2003, in Yuma.

A former supervisor for a school cafeteria, she was born June 27, 1927, in McNab, Ark.

All services will be held in New Mexico and burial will be in South Park Cemetery, Roswell, N.M.

Yuma Mortuary & Crematory handled local arrangements.

Ernest Aguilar, Sr.
Ernest Aguilar, Sr., 62, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2003 in El Centro, California.

Mr. Aguilar was a former employee of Germain’s Seed Co. in Maywood, California.
He is survived by his wife Frances of Winterhaven; sons Ernest Aguilar Jr. and Francisco Aguilar III, both of Winterhaven; daughter Margarita Aguilar, of Yuma and daughters Sonja Aguilar and Natasha Hernandez, both of Winterhaven; 11 grandchildren, nine great grand children and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Francisco Aguilar, mother Eva Aguilar, and brother Robert Aguilar.

Visitation will be at Kammann Mortuary on Thursday, February 6, 2003 at 1:00 pm. Funeral services will be at Quechan Cry House on Thursday, February 6 at 5:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be Francisco Aguilar III, Robert Aguilar, Eddie Moreno, Rafael Dorane, Moses Moreno and Noah Barley. Honorary bearers will be Ezequiel Aguilar, Francisco Aguilar IV and Ernest Aguilar Jr.

Mrs. Mary Louise Lowell
Mrs. Mary Louise Lowell, 75, passed away January 30, 2003 in Yuma Regional Medical Center. She was born May 25, 1927 in Roxana, Illinois. Mrs. Lowell retired from Civil Service and was an active member of Helping Hands.

Survivors include her son Randal D. Lowell of Yuma, Arizona, brothers, Bernard D. Goodsonof Yuma, Arizona and Therman M. Goodson of Hemet, California and 8 nieces and 1 nephew.

Mrs. Lowell was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. John L. Goodson, husband, Melford F. Lowell, brother, Joe. S. Goodson, and sister, Evelyn R. Chatham.

Memorial services will be held Saturday February 8th, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 11357 E. 40th St., Foothills, Yuma, Arizona. Reverend Alan Puccini will officiate.Final resting place will be Sunset Vista Cemetery.

The family request donations be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice of Yuma, 1824 S. 8th Ave, Yuma, Arizona 85364.

Phoebe L. Chavez
Mrs. Phoebe L. Chavez, 81, passed away February 2, 2003 in Yuma, Arizona. She was born December 25, 1921. Phoebe was a housewife.

She is survived by her husband Henry V. Chavez; son Henry L. Chavez Jr.; daughter, Barbara Dominguez; son, Frank J. Chavez; 12 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 6, 2003 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., atJohnson Mortuary Chapel. Funeral services will be Friday, February 7, 2003 at the Johnson Mortuary Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Phoebe's final resting place will be Desert Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers Henry L. Chavez Jr., Frank Chavez, Aaron Lechuga, Melvin Carl, Chuck Donohoe, Caesar Dominguez, Henry Chavez, andJessie Flores.
