ACUNA, Angel L., 78, died on August 1, 1997. A native of Tucson, he graduated from the Arizona State School for the Deaf and Blind. CARRILLO, Armando E., 73, of Mammoth, left peacefully to be with the Lord on August 3, 1997. Armando was born February 12, 1924 in Sonora, Arizona. He worked for Magma Copper Co. for over 30 years, retiring in 1981. He was an active member of his community involved in many clubs and organizations. He served in the Army during WWII in the South Pacific. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Josephine. He was the devoted father of one son, Armando V.(Alicia) and three daughters, Theresa Alvarado, Gloria (Rudy) Vindiola, Grace (Bruno) Gonzales. Devoted grandfather of 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.Survived also by one brother, Carlos and four sisters, Mary Mendoza, Lucy Esquivel, Consuelo Murillo and Ina Brown; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Manuel. The Wake Service will be at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 122 W. Church Dr., Mammoth. FOSTER, Ruby Nell, peacefully passed away in Lakewood, WA on July 30, 1997 at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyman. Nell and Lyman loved the desert and made Tucson their home for over 40 years. Four years ago, Nell moved to Washington state to live closer to her daughter and family. She is survived by Judy Bankhead, her daughter and son-in-law, Alan; grandsons, Jeff and Jon and granddaughter, Jamie. She also leaves two sisters, Celia Webb and Claire Boyer; one brother, Fred Cross; brother, Robert Cross preceded her in death. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. A Graveside Service will be held at South Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, August 9 at 9:30 a.m. to celebrate Nell’s life and her return to Tucson as her final resting place.

TEARNEY, Mary Ellen, born September 22, 1943 in San Ysdiro, CA, passed away on August 4, 1997 in Los Angeles, CA. She was founder of Tearney & Tearney, a national court reporting agency based in Los Angeles, CA. Her intelligence, quick wit, grace and love of life will deeply be missed and not forgotten. She was an inspiration, teacher and beacon to all of those she touched. GETHING, Frank, 78 years old, of Tucson, died on August 1, 1997. He was born on November 19, 1918 in Nottinghamshire, England. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sally Milne Gething; his sister, Edie Gething; his children, Christopher, Leslie, Thomas, Sally, and Elizabeth; and five grandchildren. Frank served in the British Navy for seven years during and after World War II, completed his education at Marquette University, earning a degree in mechanical engineering, and worked for Aqua Chem in Milwaukee for 27 years. After moving to Tucson in 1977, he worked for the Environmental Research Laboratory until his retirement in 1986, at which time he continued to pursue a lifelong interest in acrylic and watercolor painting. HORKEY, Jerome James, 70, died August 1, 1997. McNAUGHTON, Kathy, 54, of Tucson, died July 31, 1997. Douglas C. Schaber, D.O., 47. Tragically lost to us on July 31, 1997. Born February 7, 1950 in Wheeling, WV. Graduated from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in June 1978. After finishing his Internal Medicine Residency, he completed his fellowship training in Cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic in June 1985 and began practicing here in Tucson. He merged his practice with Pima Heart Associates in April 1996. In addition to his cardiology practice, he was selected and served as Director of Medical Education at Tucson General Hospital from May 1986 until the time of his death. For nearly a decade Doug was also involved with osteopathic medical education on a national level. In May of this year he was inducted as President of the National Association of Osteopathic Directors and Medical Educators (AODME). He was a Fellow in the Collegium of Fellows of the AODME. He had also served on the Board of Tucson Osteopathic Medical Foundation since October of 1995. Doug’s other passions included his wife and children, aviation, amateur radio, motorcycling, astronomy, fine food, and good cigars. Doug had been a pilot for 21 years. His amateur radio friends knew him as KG7IZ. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Gretchen; two wonderful children whom he adored, Dustin, age 11, and Megan, age 10; his loving parents, Henry and Dorothy Schaber of Wheeling, WV; and his dear sister, Patricia Schaber of Port Charlotte, FL.
