Myrvle Harold Anderson, was born April 23, 1922 in Barnes County, North Dakota. He passed away on January 31, 2003, Yuma, Arizona at the age of 80. He lived and worked on farms in North Dakota until he moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1941. He was employed at the shipyard there until he enlisted in the Navy in 1942.
One of 3 ships he served on was the SS John Ball where he was an armed guard. The John Ball was part of the invasion of Salerno, Italy. S1-C Anderson was credited with shooting down a German aircraft. He later was stationed in the South Pacific until WWII ended in 1945.
From 1945 - 52 he worked diverse forms of construction from ironwork, coal mining and bridge building throughout the USA including Alaska and Guam. Myrvle grabbed the opportunity to work in Guam knowing his brother Howard was serving the USAF and stationed there. He arrived for work and surprised his brother by waking him up; it was a very special story that Grandpa shared over and over.
While in Anchorage, Alaska, Myrvle met and later married Mary Blanche Philpot on November 29, 1952. The first two of their children were born in Palmer, AK. They moved California and their youngest son was born in Chula Vista, CA.
After settling in Norwalk, CA he worked as an Iron Worker on Los Angeles skyscrapers. He then joined the IUOE in 1974 and traveled back to Alaska to work on the renowned Alaska Pipe Line. After their children where raised, he and his wife escaped the big city by moving to White Salmon, Washington where they lived for 22 years. He retired in 1983 giving them the opportunity to hit the road in their new 5th wheel trailer throughout the United States and Mexico. They finally settled in Yuma, Arizona in 1998.
Myrvle is survived by his wife Blanche, of Yuma; their daughter, Sheila, son-in law Craig Grother, of Colorado; son Norman, daughter-in-law Carrie, son Jeff and daughter-in-law Kay, of California; ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren as well as his brothers, Lawrence and his wife Jo, of Arizona; Howard and his wife Mary of Washington; and his sister Arlene Rasmussen of North Dakota.
A service will be held February 8th from12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Palm Desert Mobile Home Park, in the Rec Hall here in Yuma.

Phyllis Louise Ray
Phyllis Louise Ray, 87, of Yuma, Arizonadied January 30, 2003 at home. She was born January 1, 1916 in Halfway, Oregon and moved to California at the age of 6. Phyllis retired from Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California and moved with her now deceased husband Wilson Ray Sr. to Yuma, Arizona.
Phyllis was a member of Morningside Southern Baptist Church and Yuma Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.
Devoted mother of Larry Ray of Ripon, California. Rusty Haley of Stockton, California, Cheryl Smith of Vacaville, California and Wilson Ray Jr. of Fairfield, California, 9 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter, loving sister of Shelby F Deaderick Jr. of Mission Viejo, California.
A celebration of Life will be held at Capri Park Recreational Hall, 3380 S. 4th Avenue, Yuma on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at 10:30 a.m.

Edna P. “Brownie” Knaak
“Brownie” Knaak, beloved wife for 57 years of Melvin H. Knaak, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2003, at the Yuma Regional Medical Center at the age of 79.Born in Starkville, Mississippi on May 28, 1923, she was raised in Texarkana, Texas and met Mel in San Francisco during World War II.
As the wife of a Naval officer, she and her family lived in many parts of the country.As devout Christians, they were active members of the Lutheran Church, Missouri, Synod, wherever they have lived.
“Brownie” is past president of the Thousand Oaks Republican Women’s Club, was elected to the Ventura County Republican Central Committee and served as a page at the Republican National Convention in 1968.After retiring with Mel to Paradise, California, they began coming to Yuma during the winter months.Here she particularly enjoyed activities with her friends, including painting, golfing and dancing.
She is survived by Mel, her daughter Linda Barnett, her son Tim Knaak, three grandchildren and six great-grandsons.She will be greatly missed by family and friends.The family will attend a graveside service at the Riverside National Cemetary.A memorialservice will be held at a later date in Paradise, California.
Kenneth F. Bredemeyer
Mr. Kenneth F. Bredemeyer, 85, passed away February 2, 2003 at YRMC in Yuma, Arizona.Mr. Bredemeyer was born June 1, 1917 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was a retired manager of O’Malley Glass Company and a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Mr. Bredemeyer is survived by his wife, Pauline Bredemeyer, of Yuma; daughter, Connie (Gary) Orr and son, Kenneth W. (Anne) Bredemeyer, both of Yuma; brother, Robert Bredemeyer of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; grandchildren, Tanna (Russ) Babiak of Estes Park, Colorado; Ryan (Sally) Orr of Yuma; Tara Prager of Mesa, Arizona; Erin (Chuck) Fitzgerald of Yuma; David (Jen) Osterman of Tucson, Arizona; Kim Osterman, of Yuma; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerry and Carl Bredemeyer.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 6, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 2555 S. Engler Ave, with Pastor Vincent Harman officiating.Memorial donations can also be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
Glen Oleson
Glen Oleson, 81, passed away February 1, 2003 at Yuma Region Medical Center.He was born November 9, 1921 in Faulkton, South Dakota.Mr. Oleson retired from the Eugene Water and Electric Board and was of the Methodist faith.Mr. Oleson was very active in golf, bowling, horseshoes, and loved doing crosswords and playing cards.
Mr. Oleson is survived by his wife, Irene C. Oleson, of Yuma; daughter, Diann Dietzman, of Spearfish, South Dakota; son, Richard Oleson, of Rapid City, South Dakota; daughter, Sharyl Quick, of Springfield, Oregon; daughter, Linda Pierce, of Spearfish, South Dakota; step-sons Melvin Brovald of Citrus Heights, California, Veryl Brovald, of Dixon, California, and Keith Brovald, of Reno, Nevada; sister, Marie Shaw, of Faulkton, South Dakota; brother, Loyd Oleson, of Mitchell, South Dakota, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Minnie (House) Oleson, four brothers, one sister, and one granddaughter.

Dannon Herrell Castile, 24, of Yuma, died Jan. 30, 2003, in Phoenix.
A student at Arizona State University, he was born Sept. 9, 1978, in Yuma.

Phyllis Ray, 87, of Yuma, died Jan. 30, 2003, at Yuma Regional Medical Center.
A former supervisor in a cafeteria, she was born Jan. 1, 1916, in Halfway, Ore.

Ernest Delcid Aguilar
Ernest Delcid Aguilar, 62, of Winterhaven, died Feb. 1, 2003, in Winterhaven.
Born Jan. 6, 1941, in Yuma, he had been an agricultural laborer.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Thomas Indian Mission with Ft. Yuma Quechan Indian tribal ceremonial rites following at the Ft. Yuma Quechan Indian Reservation Big House. Cremation will be at 6 a.m. Friday at the Ft. Yuma Quechan Indian reservation Cemetery.

Ron Quaman, 54, of Yuma, died Feb. 2, 2003, at his residence.
Born Nov. 24, 1948, in Winnona, Minn., he had been a field engineer for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.
Visitation will be from 9 to service time at 11 a.m. Saturday at Johnson Mortuary.

Kenneth Frederick Bredemeyer
Kenneth Frederick Bredemeyer, 85, of Yuma, died Feb. 2, 2003, at Yuma Regional Medical Center.
A former manager of a glass company, he was born June 1, 1917, in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church.
