BAILEY, Josephine ”Joan”, 75 years old, died Saturday, November 8, 1997 in Tucson. She is survived by her husband, David; three sons, David Jr. of Lake Villa, IL, Gregory of Tucson and Kevin of La Jolla, CA; two daughters, Patricia Chaudoir of Deer County, WI and Marie Edmonds of Tucson; two brothers, Joan Campbell of Tucson and Thomas Campbell of Co. Mayo, Ireland and two sisters, Kathleen O’Donnell and June Crawley, both of Co. Mayo, Ireland; grandchildren, Christopher, Brendan, David, Megan, Brooke. Born in Swinford, Co. Mayo, Mrs. Bailey was a retired professional nurse registered in Ireland, England and Illinois. She served in some well-known institutions, including St. James Hospital, London and Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C. She was a director of nursing in three skilled nursing facilities in Illinois–Old Orchard Manor (Skokie), Greenoaks (Park Ridge) and Oakton Pavilion (Des Plaines). Mrs. Bailey spent the last five years of her 48 year nursing career tending to sick priests and brothers returning from foreign missions associated with the Society of the Divine Word Based at Tecmny, Illinois. BATES, Robert Thomas ”Tom”, passed away November 8, 1997 at TMC Hospice following a prolonged and painful struggle with bone cancer. Born September 16, 1949 in Detroit, MI but spent his entire life in Tucson where he attended Catalina High School, Class of 1967. Preceded in death by his father, R. Robert Bates, MD; sisters, Martha and Nancy; and brother, Mark. He was an assistant manager at different times for Wendy’s, Arby’s, and Long John Silvers. His favorite hobby was playing the guitar. He leaves his mother, Norma Grove; stepfather, Robert J.; brother, Steve (Justyna) of St. Louis; sisters, Barbara (Don) Phillips of Phoenix, Maribeth Dennis, Ph.D. of Lubbock, Theresa Bradford of St. Louis; and 10 nieces and nephews. His cremated remains will be placed in the Columbarium Wall at Rincon Congregational Church of Christ. There will be no services at this time. He was a World War II veteran on USS San Jacinto aircraft carrier. He was awarded the Victory Medal, American Area, Asiatic Pacific (Seven Stars) and Philippine Liberation (Two Stars). CLARK, Charles F. Sr. 77 of Mammoth died November 6, 1997 in Tucson. Survived by loving wife, Fidelia (”Phil”) of Mammoth; son, Charles (Michelle) of Oracle; brother, Joseph Lambert Clark of Tucson; grandsons, Brady Charles Clark and Garrett Marcus Clark. He was a member of the pioneer Clark family that came to the San Pedro Valley in 1873. He was born in Mammoth and lived there most of his life. He was a veteran of the Army 82nd Airborne, a member of the Elks, VFW and Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Mammoth.
