BARSS, Edward George Urquhart ”Ted” age 61, of Tucson, AZ, died October 27, 1997. Ted was born on July 24, 1936 and raised in Toronto, Canada. He earned his Industrial Engineering Degree at University of Toronto and his MBA at McMaster University. While in Canada he was active in the Rotary Club, President of Minor Hockey Association and the City Recreation Commission. A resident of Tucson, AZ since 1994, he was an active member of the Skyline Country Club where he pursued his interests in golf and tennis. Other interests included skiing, piano and computers. At the time of his death, Ted served as president of his own consulting company (Barss Consulting), specializing in company restructuring and strategic planning. Prior to heading up his own company, he served as President of BIW/Draka U.S.A. for nine years. He is survived by Teresa ”Terri” Barss, his wife of 15 years, beloved father to Edward James ”T.J.” Barss of Tucson, AZ, Jamie Barss-Angus of Ottawa, Ontario, Jennifer Barss-Cameron of Toronto, Ontario, Craig Barss of Baltimore, Ontario, Martha Barss of Toronto, Ontario, Catherine Barss, Toronto, Ontario and Drew Barss of St. Joseph, MI, beloved grandfather of Jordan, Troy, Dusty, Keenan and Carter. Survived by his brother, Jerry Barss; preceded in death by his brother, Robert Barss. He touched many lives and was loved by many friends in Canada and the United States. EVANS, Joan Ellen, beloved angel to all who met her, was born on June 4, 1956 and died after a long courageous struggle with multiple myeloma on Sunday, October 26, 1997. She was the youngest daughter of Ralph and Marian Evans, Munds Pk., AZ, twin sister, Jane Marie (deceased June 4, 1956); sisters, Ann Evans Mihina and Barbara Evans Levine (Larry) of Tucson, AZ, Mary Evans Koch (Ken) and Nancy Evans Garcia (Allen) of Phoenix, Arizona; nieces and nephews, Christopher, Michael (Karen) and Katherine Mihina; Damian, Andrea and Kimberly Garcia; Kevin and Andrew Levine; and Corey Koch. With us in spirit are her loved ones and friends in Wisconsin who will miss her dearly. Juanita May Stutler Horan, 69, died October 25, 1997. Born in Bristol, WV December 23, 1927. Moved to Tucson, AZ in 1972. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Charles G. Horan, Sr.; two sisters, Naomi Ingalls and Betty (Adolf) Schieve; one brother, Charles (Joan) Stutler; and five children, Ramona O’Donnell, John McFarland, Sr., Charles L. McFarland, Charles G. Horan, Jr. and wife Barbara and Caroline Gutierrez and husband Bill; mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, Caroline G. Horan; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A kind and loving wife, mother, grand and great-grandmother who will be missed by family and friends. Visitation was held at home of deceased October 28, 1997 for close friends and family.

William M. Feinberg M.D., Born April 21, 1952, passed away following sudden cardiac arrest on October 24, 1997. Dr. Feinberg was a professor of neurology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 13 years, Lois Loescher and devoted children, Max, age six and Hope, age four of Tucson. Other survivors include his parents, Dr. Milton and Marjorie Feinberg of Encino, CA and brother, Lawrence (Karen) of Los Angeles; in-laws, Dr. Thomas and Dorothy Loescher of Tucson, Jon Loescher (Carol) of San Diego, Eric Loescher (Laurie); two nephews and one niece of Portland, Oregon and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Bill was first and foremost an exceptional human being who treasured above all else, time spent with his family and friends. He endeared himself to countless others with his terrific sense of humor, gentle and caring nature and sharp intellect. Bill attended Stanford University and received his M.D. at University of California, San Francisco. Professionally, he will be remembered as an internationally known expert in stroke prevention research and an excellent, compassionate physician. A memorial service will be held at University Medical Center, DuVal Auditorium, Tucson, Arizona on Friday, October 31 at noon. METCALF, Joseph Roscoe, born April 12, 1922 in Brocton, IL, passed away October 24, 1997. Survived by his wife, Margaret; sons, Dave (Pat) and Tom; daughter, Marcia Davenport; son-in-law, Dr. David Davenport; grandchildren, Deron, Amy and Julie Davenport, Melissa and Jacob Metcalf. Joe was educated in Redmond, Illinois. He joined the Army Air Corps and eventually was transferred to Davis Monthan in 1941. During World War II he was a B-24 lead Bomber pilot stationed in England with the 8th Air Force. He was decorated with the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross. After graduation from the U of A in 1948, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, he became a trainee with Sears in the Tucson store. In 1964 he returned as manager and opened the Park Mall Store. Retiring from Sears in 1978 he returned to Tucson where he was active in Catalina Rotary, on the Board of the YMCA, was the Executive Vice President of the Youth Foundation, a member of Skyline Country Club and Pinetop Lakes Country Club. He was also an active member of the White River Masonic Lodge in Show Low and the Builders Masonic Lodge in Tucson. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m.Saturday, November 1, 1997 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 8051 E. Broadway. MOODY, Ruth, passed away October 28, 1997. She was born in Kansas City, MO. and moved to Tucson in 1983. She was a Realtor for Long Realty Co. for 12 years. She was a graduate of St. Theresa’s College in Kansas City. She married Ivan E. Moody in 1951, who died in 1988 and who was Vice President and General Counsel for Riss International. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She is survived by two children, James A. Moody of Washington, D.C. and Joan Millwater of San Antonio, TX; a sister, Adele Toller of Tucson and a brother, William H. Toller of West Hartford, CT. Favorite charities are the Salvation Army, 1001 N. Richey Blvd. 85716 or the Holy Family Center Hospice, 1802 W. St. Mary’s Rd. 85745. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 31, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8650 N. Shannon, with a reception following in the home. ALVIDREZ, Daniel M., 76, of Tucson, passed away October 26, 1997. Survived by wife, Dora; daughters, Gloria (Elias), Yolanda (Jim), Barbara (Abe); son, Daniel Jr. (Pam); sisters, Coleta Alvillar, Librada Carbajal, Eliosa Navarro; brother, Rayo Alvidrez; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
