GURSKE, Clayton E., 76, of Tucson, passed away on October 18, 1997. He was a former resident of Duluth and Grand Marais, MN. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Tynne; twin daughters of Tucson, Janice (Walter) Love and Janet (Joe) Rosales; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Elaine (Carl) Stevens of Tucson and Duluth. Clayton served in WWII in the 62nd Armored Field Artillery in Tunisia, Sicily, England, Omaha Beach Landing on D-Day and throughout Europe including the Battle of the Bulge. HAZEL, Belva Lee, 67, of Route 1, Linville, died Sunday, October 19, 1997 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg where she had been a patient for one day. She was born May 21, 1930 in Shattuck, Oklahoma and was the daughter of the late Curtis and Leola Howard Kimmons. Mrs.Hazel moved to this area in 1984 from Tucson, Arizona, and was an active member of the Word of Life Ministries where she was involved with the Children’s Ministries. She was a manager for the 7-Eleven convenience stores for Southland Corporation and also was a self-employed trainer of thoroughbred horses for many years. She is survived by her husband, William Melvin Hazel of Tucson, Arizona; two daughters, Ann Lowe of Linville, Virginia; and Vickie Hicks of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sisters, Marilyn Fahnert of Amarillo, Texas; and Kaye McCall of Stinnett, Texas; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Memorial Services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the Kyger & Trobaugh Funeral Home in Harrisonburg by Pastor Bill Gearhart. Her body will be cremated at Harrisonburg Cremation Service and burial will be private. MORENO, Lena C., died Saturday, October 18, 1997. Mrs. Moreno was born in New York on March 2, 1909 and has resided in Tucson since 1981. She is survived by two daughters, Joanne Travers and husband Chip of Tucson; and Terry Rencarge of Tucson; one sister, Mimi Scioli of New Jersey; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren also survive. STUFFLEBEAN, Marguerite Hill, age 80, was born January 10, 1917 in Beardstown, IL and died at TMC Hospice in Tucson, AZ on October 14, 1997. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John H. Stufflebean; her son, John E. Stufflebean together with Lynda Stites Stufflebean and grandchildren, Daniel Ross and Mallory Ann of Kansas City, MO. She is also survived by her sister, Alice Hill Otterbourg of El Paso, TX. Marguerite grew up in Beardstown and graduated from BHS in 1934. She attended the Caster Beauty College in St. Joseph, MO. She and her sister owned and operated the Empress Beauty Shop in Brookfield, MO. She attended the University of Missouri with her husband. Marguerite was married October 3, 1942 at The Little Church Around The Corner in New York City. The Stufflebeans moved to Tucson, AZ in October of 1945. In the 1940's and 1950's she was active in the BPOE 385 Ladies Auxiliary. Bridge was one of her favorite activities with a multitude of friends in many groups throughout her life. In later years she enjoyed the ladies auxiliary of the Arizona Society of Professional Engineers, a senior exercise group who are now at the Lighthouse YMCA, as well as some small intimate bridge groups and old friends. Her many friends in these later groups have been most supportive in these trying times. She is a former member of the Eastern Star and is a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. BYXBEE, Mary Ellen, 79, of Oro Valley, AZ, died October 15, 1997. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Arthur W. Byxbee and is survived by her son, Charles A. WRIGHT, Berta, of Berta Wright Gallery Shop, passed away Friday, October 17, 1997. We would like to take time to recognize a contributor to the local arts for almost 50 years. Berta Wright, internationally known, award winning fabric designer, gallery owner, art educator, TMA board member and active participant since 1950 will be remembered with a Memorial Gathering on Sunday, October 19, 4:00 p.m. in the Courtyard of the Tucson Museum of Art. BLEAKMORE, Richard L. ”Dick” age 68, of Tucson, died October 14, 1997. Survivors include two brothers, Bob and Bill Bleakmore; one sister, Elsie; two sons, David(Alexandria) and Tim; three grandchildren; loving companion, Kathleen. Mr. Bleakmore was a retired photographer, he was also a Mason. He worked for the Pima County Sheriffs Dept. and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
