TROXEL, Ida Blanche, died Monday, October 13, 1997 in Tucson. Mother of LaDoris F. Goudy (John), Tucson, Loretta E. Linger (Eddie), Loudenville, Ohio, Olen D. Whitesel, Tucson and Larry J. Whitesel (Mary) Mansfield, Ohio. Surviving sisters, Juanita Childers, W.V., Lucille Kennedy, W.V., Elsie Burnette, W.V., Willa Whitesel, W.V. and Arleta Long, OH; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren. She grew up in West Virginia, married and raised her family in Ohio, worked at Cresco Manufacturing and later moved to Tucson, where she had lived since 1972. She was a member of T.O.P.S. in Tucson and was Treasurer of Tucson Estates Interdenominational Chapel. Blanche was a very talented and artistic person who enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting, and helping others. Her family is grateful for her wonderful example of charity and good works, leaving a legacy of spiritual fulfillment to her children. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 1997 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon with Funeral Services being held at 11:00 a.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY (Center Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts for Blanche may be sent to Carondelet Health Network Hospice Services, 1802 W. St. Mary’s Rd., Tucson, AZ 85745 (St. Mary’s Hospice) Arrangements by CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY.

VARLEA, Diomira, 72, of Tucson, passed away October 13, 1996. Nana, we love and miss you so very much. We think of you everyday, all day that’s what keeps us going. May God Bless you always. We love you, Beto, Lisa, Marisela y Angelica Morales.

WAGNER, Patricia Jean Altman, 69, of Marana, died October 10, 1997. Preceded in death by her soul mate, Ronald Wagner. Survived by her loving sister, Betty Starr; and her adoring children, James, John Altman, Janie (Brad) Bennett, Steve (Robin) Wagner, David (Stacye) Wagner; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A get together for family and friends will be Saturday, October 18 starting at 4:00 p.m. at the home of her daughter in Marana.

WHITE, Ellen Marguerite, age 74, died peacefully October 9, 1997 in Salt Lake City, UT. Born September 19, 1923 in Ashtabula, Ohio to Ivan and Ada L. Fowler. Graduated in June 1942 from Tucson Senior High School. married Warren L. White Sr. on February 11, 1943, Tucson. He died on February 20, 1992. Survived by mother, Ada L. Fowler; sons, Warren L. (Bonnie) White Jr, Salt Lake City and Gregg R. White, Tucson; granddaughter, Elizabeth White; step granddaughter, Amanda Daniels; sisters, Margie Ezell, Joyce (Chuck) Helms and brother, Ivan (Inez) Fowler Jr.; many nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16 at South South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave, Tucson, AZ.

Claude P. Bart, 30, of Tucson, died October 10, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Karen Coelho; mother, Dorothy K. Bart; and loving family in the U.S., Switzerland, and India. Memorial Services will be on Tuesday, October 14, 1997 at 6:00 p.m. at Friends Meeting House, 931 N. Beverly Ann Bedwell, born in Oceanside, CA November 17, 1927, died October 12, 1997. A 51 year resident of Tucson, AZ, residing in Alpine, AZ for the last eight years. Beverly is survived by her husband, Billy J. Bedwell; children, Daniel H. Rorbach (Cathy) of Tucson, Betsy Bumpus (Eddie) of Clarksville, TN, Diane J. Kusel of Tucson, David N. Rorbach (Sharon) of Phoenix, AZ, Kevin Bedwell of Clarksville, TN, Douglas G. Rorbach of Tucson, Cathy Bedwell of Clarksville, TN and William T. Bedwell (Georgia) of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Steve, Jason, Joshe, Ben, Tracy, Jeff, Casey, Jessica, Scott, E.J., Shannon, Kris, Geoffrey, Leah Marie, Ashley and Katie; and seven great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by them all. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 15 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo. CASIAN, Blanca, 45, of Tucson, died October 4, 1997. She is survived by her father, Militon Marquez. Memorial Services were held at the Tucson House by the Door Christian Fellowship Church. FREEMAN, Beatrice B. ”Sister Bea” age 94, of Tucson, died October 8, 1997. Preceded in death by father, Fredrick William Freeman; mother, Anna Mary Freeman. Mass will be at Tuller School, 5870 E. 14th St, October 14 at 9:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to The Order of the Teachers of The Children of God, 5870 E. 14th St. Tucson, AZ 85711. Rev. George William Hoeflinger, 73, died October 12, 1997. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris J. Hoeflinger; daughter, Gayle M. Sandoval; sons, Douglas, Bruce and Richard Hoeflinger; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers and five sisters. George was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Navy and a former Pastor with the United Church of Christ for many years. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 1997 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Where Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 1997. Burial to follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

MACY, Elizabeth Bacon, frequent visitor to Tucson since her marriage here in 1942, died Sunday, October 12, 1997 at the age of 77 in Macomb, IL. Mrs. Macy, best known to her friends as Bette, married the late J.H. Dick Macy in Tucson where they had both been in flight training during World War II. Dick Macy died in Tucson in 1985. The couple moved to Macomb after living for several years after the war in Islip, NY, Mr. Macy’s family home. In Macomb, the Macys assumed operation of a farm her family had owned for five generations. Bette’s parents, from whom the Macys assumed operation of the farm, were William and Katherine Bacon. The Bacons subsequently moved to Tucson and lived here until their deaths. Bette and Dick Macy spent most of their non-farming winters in Tucson. Mrs. Macy is survived by her sister, Barbara Bacon Rosenberg of Tucson; her two daughters, Elizabeth Macy Oates of Dedham, MA and Barbara Macy Mullen of Pasadena, CA; her son, John H.D. Macy, Jr. of Scottsdale, AZ and six grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Service at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Macomb this coming Saturday. Burial in Macomb will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the J.H. Dick and Elizabeth Macy Endowment Fund at St. George’s Church or the charity of one’s choice.

MARTINEZ, Toribio ”Tito” 84, of Tucson, passed away October 11, 1997. Preceded in death by wife, Carmen V. Martinez. Survived by sons, Antonio ”Tony” (Betty), Albert ”Beto” (Linda), Tito (Rosemary) and Frank Martinez; sister, Trinidad (Horacio) Rabago. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 1997 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at St. Margaret’s Church, 801 N. Grande Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Final viewing will be at 9:00 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Church followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers: Frank, Antonio, Gabriel, Armando, Michael, Albert and Steven. Mr. Martinez worked at TUSD for 15 years as a carpenter and 40 years at Corbett Lumber Company in the Roofing Department. MUNRO, Florence Elina, 100, of Tucson, AZ, died October 12, 1997. Survived by daughter, Janice (James B.) Miller of Fair Oaks, CA; granddaughters, Jennifer Miller (Gregory) Sweet, DVM of CA and Stephanie Miller (Raymond M., DO) Depa of MI; nephew, Wilbur D. Searfoss of Waterbury, CT; nieces, Louise Whitesell of Ormand Beach, FL and Delphine Sutton of Pace, FL: and numerous family members and friends. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Private family service was held. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Saugus, MA. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

ORTIZ, Ygnacio ”Nacho”, age 81, of Tucson, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 1997 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Naya; sons, John, Mike (Kathy) Ortiz; daughters, Pat and Betty Ortiz; nephew, William (Mary Ann) Ruiz; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Nacho was a printing pressman for 45 years in Tucson and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 1997 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, 1220 South Sixth Ave., on Thursday, October 16, 1997 at 9:00 a.m. Interment to follow at South Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers, Mike Ortiz, Michael E. Ortiz, Phillip Ortiz, Ray Hoover, Fred Clark and Enrique Fungate. Honorary Pallbearer, John Ortiz. The Ortiz family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at VA Medical Center Nursing Care Unit and especially the staff at VA Hospice for their compassionate support in the care of our father. ”Dad, ” we will miss you but know in our hearts that you are finally at rest, at peace and have gone home.

ROBINSON, Diana Jo, 50, of Catalina, died October 5, 1997. She is survived by sons, Gary and Ricky Sharrah; grandchildren, Ricky Jr. and Laurie Ann; two sisters, Linda and Vivian; and father, Tom Ring. There will be no services. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

WHARTON, Charles (Chuck) Dennis, passed away at the age of 55 on October 11, 1997. Chuck is survived by his wife, Kathy Tanner; his daughters, Lisa Collis, Anne and Susanna Wharton; his mother, Opal Wharton; brother, Kim Wharton; sisters, Faith Wharton and Melody Syah. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 15 at 4:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 915 E. 4th St. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to First United Methodist Church, Chuck Wharton Memorial Fund for Spiritual Growth.

McWILLIAMS, Mark F., 34, died October 10, 1997. Survived by his wife, Laura McWilliams; children, Aaron, Marky, Matthew, and Michael; parents, Francis ”Frank” and Mary Lou McWilliams; brother, Dennis; sisters, Theresa Renn and Frances Jeffers; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Dickson. POWELL, U.S. ”Sam”, of Tucson, passed away October 10, 1997. Survived by his wife, Kay, of Tucson; three daughters, Diane (Jim) Claxton of Littleton, CO; Leslie (Ron) Powell of Newbury port, MA; Pamela (Brian) Goldstein of Tucson; sister, Opal Wilcox ofDenton, GA; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, all of GA. RODNEY, Hugh L., born in Sterling, CO on February 5, 1930, died on October 8, 1997. Hugh is survived by his wife, Patricia; and children, Michael Rodney, Christine Rodney, Paula Birch, Regan Noad, John Ross and Scott Ross; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Hugh is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Millie and Robert Giacomini; nieces and nephews. Hugh attended the U. of A. and graduated from Regis U. (Denver, CO) in 1951. Hugh was a Real Estate Broker in Tucson for more than 45 years. In the years before his retirement, he was the Lease and Rights of Way administrator for the Tohono O’odham Nation. Hugh was an avid golfer, belonging to a number of golf clubs in and around Tucson. Along with other service and social clubs, Hugh was a 45 year member of the Elks, most recently affiliated with Lodge #2532. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, the 14th at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Pius X (Landscape Committee) or a charity of your choice.

TAFF, Wayne, 49, died October 11, 1997. Son of Margaret Taff of Tucson; brother of William Nielsen of Tucson. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 15, 1997 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL. WILLIS, Alvin Adams, 76, of Tucson, passed away October 9, 1997. He is survived by wife, Helen; son, George (Debra); grandchildren, Carrie and Brenda; sister, Marge; brothers, Don and Richard.
