MORFORD, Glenn Devere, 84, died on January 17, 1998 in Tucson. He was born in Soldier, KS, June 5, 1913. He is survived by his loving current wife, Ruby; and his children, Carol Exline of Salina, KS, Danny Morford of Leavenworth, KS and Cheryl Musick of Overland Park, KS; step-children, Elton Kilfoyl of CA and Randi Ven Huizen of CA. He was preceded in death by his stepson, Jim Kilfoyl. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren. His wife of 46 years, Margaret, preceded him in death in 1982 and also his sister, Helen Chrisman. Glenn worked for Jordan’s Bakery in Topeka, KS for many years before going to work for American Machine and Foundry Co. as a bakery service engineer. He retired from AMF in 1975 and then started his own bakery consulting business. His hard work and dedication to the job at hand, made his reputation outstanding in the business. NORDBERG, Helen Duncho, born October 19, 1910, died January 17, 1998. Preceded in death by her husband John Nordberg. AYERS, Howard T., born September 13, 1920 in Chillicothe, MO, died December 29, 1997 in Mountlake Terrace, WA, at his daughters’ home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Ayers. He had moved from Tucson, AZ in July 1996 to WA to reside with his daughter, Vivian Ayers. Howard moved his family to Tucson from Iowa in 1956. They owned and operated several restaurants, including Howard’s Round-Up, on Benson Highway. Howard and Doris were known for their kindness to others, their love of their dogs and their love of the desert. He is survived by his daughter, Vivian Ayers of 23409 Lakeview Dr. F201 Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043; a brother, Bill Ayers of Scottsdale, AZ; two sister-in-laws; and several nieces and nephews. SMITH, Spencer M. ”Spen” Born February 9, 1923 in Zanesville, OH, died January 14, 1998. He graduated from Vermont Academy in 1942 and entered Dartmouth College (46), where he became a Delta Kappa Epsilon, serving as president in his senior year. He was a member of Sphinx, Green Key and Palaeopitus. He served on the Inner Fraternity Council and became president in his senior year. Spen played basketball for Dartmouth and was a member of the 1946 Ivy League Championship Team. Served in the United States Navy Airarm, in the Pacific Theater, during WWII. Spen’s entire professional life was in the paper industry where he served as marketing and sales vice-president for three corporations during the course of his career. An excellent sailor, tennis player, hunter and fisherman, Spen belonged to many clubs and organizations in the New York area. He is survived by his wife, Doree; two children and four step-children; three grandsons and four step-grandchildren. His son, Spencer Grant Smith (Dartmouth ’71) resides in Seattle, WA. His daughter Pamela Smith Jackson lives in Tucson. A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 1998 at St. Philips in the Hills Episcopal Church, N. Campbell and River Rd. Catharine M. Storek, 65, of Tucson, died January 18, 1998. She is survived by her husband of over 40 years, Ben Storek; daughter, Karen Storek of Tucson; son, Mark Storek of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren, Sean Lange and Tyler Lange both of Tucson, Dillon Storek and Sheena Storek both of Sarasota; sister, Elizabeth Downer Munds of Wilmington, DE; numerous nephews and nieces and their families. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Eve Croswell. In 1954 Mrs. Storek graduated from Sweetbriar College, VA and later with her husband moved for her health to Tucson, where he took a position as a trust and investment officer at the Southern Arizona Bank, predecessor to Wells Fargo Bank. prior to arriving in Tucson she had been employed at Union Theological Seminary in New York and was active in the NY Junior League. After arriving in Tucson in 1958, she was a volunteer at Tucson Medical Center, an active supporter of the local Junior League, Planned Parenthood, and the Republican Party. Mrs. Storek was popular with friends and acquaintances particularly because she was a loving listener. She was a deacon at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. A Memorial Service for friends will be held, Thursday, January 22 at 4:00 p.m., St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, NE corner of Chapala Drive and Paseo Del Norte followed by a celebration of Mrs. Storek’s life at the Storek residence for close friends and coworkers. Mercedes ”Mercy” Wood Carrillo, born December 27, 1910 a fifth generation of Tucson passed away January 17, 1998. Preceded in death by Josephine W. Elias, Delia W. FRAZER, Imogene Colquitt (Gene), died January 15, 1998. She was born in Bonham, TX to Annie Lee and Eugene Colquitt on September 5, 1913. Predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Jim W. (Theresa) Genematas; Robert C. and Christopher Burroughs; five great-grand children, Melissa, Elizabeth, Jamie, and Gene Genematas and Danielle Burroughs; and her brother-in-law, J.V. Having made her home at the Life Care Center for almost four years, she received magnificent care and love from the Esperanza staff. Her family is so grateful to them. Ruben G. Villasenor ”Sir”, 74, went to be with the Lord, January 16, 1998. He loved his country and served bravely with the 134th AAA Gun Battalion in the European Theatre during WWII. After the war, he earned his BA Degree at Arizona State University and his Master’s in Earth Sciences at the U of A. He taught with the Tanque Verde School District for 25 years and was Principal of Emily Grey Junior High School for several years. He also taught at Wakefield Junior High in the Tucson Unified School District for eight years prior to his retirement in 1987. Mr. Villasenor was preceded in death by his mother, Josefina Majalca and his brothers, David and Oscar VIllasenor. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Blanca; children, Gina (David) Marinez, Victor, Robert (Kathleen), James (Trini), Edmund (Lynne) Villasenor; grandchildren, Adrian Moreno, Esti, Robert, Lisa, Sophia, Briggette Villasenor and David Marinez; great-grandchildren, Marissa de la Torre and Elias Moreno; sister, Connie Oliva; brother, Alfonso Villasenor; sister-in-law, Francis Villasenor and many beloved nieces and nephews.
