GOLDTHORPE, Katherine M., 83, passed away January 6, 1998 in Park Villa Health Care Center. She had been a resident at Vista View Care Home prior to entering the hospital and then moving to Park Villa. Mrs. Goldthorpe was born May 27, 1914, in Clinton, Iowa, and had lived in Tucson for the past 42 years. KRESS, Earl Edward, 93, died January 3, 1998. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Ida (Nee Glau) Kress; two sons; and a brother. QUINN, Frieda H. In loving memory of Frieda H. Quinn, 8, who went to be with the Lord on December 30, 1997. Born in Mt. Clemens, MI, Frieda moved to Tucson in 1966, after the death of her husband, James. She was the mother of James E. Quinn of Tucson, AZ, Frederick H. Quinn of Westland, MI, and Susan Quinn Margolis of Lilburn, GA. Besides her children, Frieda leaves ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales parish, was active in the church craft club, and was known for her poppy seed cakes. Memories of her clear mind and independent spirit will linger in the hearts of her family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco. BAILIE, Hugh Spencer, 77, of Tucson, born in Stratford, CT, January 19, 1920, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on January 6, 1998. Formerly a 20 year resident of Shelton, CT and a 10 year resident of Cortez, Co. He has lived in Tucson for 13 years. Mr. Bailie was a member of Ct. Sheet Metal Workers Local #39. He owned and operated Mesa Oasis Camp Ground and Bailie’s Antiques in Cortez, CO. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marjorie; daughters, Penny (Richard) Phipps of Oxford, Ct and Kathy Bailie of Mesa, AZ.; sons, Kevin Bailie and Jeffrey (Deborah) Bailie both of Oxford, CT.; sister, Ruth Luce of Berthoud, CO and Mildred Nielsen of Loveland, CO; grandchildren, Bethany and Bryan Phipps, Colleen and Erin Bailie, Scott and Michael Bailie all of Oxford, CT; several nieces and nephews also survive. MCEACHREN, Ernest ”Mac” Word, age 87, a resident of Arizona since 1932, passed away January 4, 1998 in Tucson. Born January 6, 1910 in Plains, TX. Mr McEachren was an Army Veteran of WWII. A member of Woodmen of the World and had a longtime association with the University of Arizona Athletic Department. Mr. McEachren is predeceased by his wife, of 62 years, Wilma. Survived by his two daughters, Marcia (John) Inlow and Cathy Cockburn; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
