LEE, William Wallace Jr., 73, passed away on December 26, 1997. He was born in Marietta, GA on November 22, 1924. Mr. Lee was a decorated veteran of World War II where he served with the Army Air Corps. After his service to his country Mr. Lee attended and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1948. Mr. Lee then went to work for Textron Corp., where he was until he retired after 37 years. Upon retirement he became very active with the Kiwanis Club of the Desert, especially its Wright Flight Program. Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Tina; son, Edward Wallace (Shelly); grandson, Chris; granddaughter, Megan; granddaughter, Brandy; sisters, Lucille Cruse, Katherine Gisel (William), Dorothy Ryden; several nieces and nephews and innumerable friends. While his physical presence we will no longer be able to share, he left behind a legacy of character, honor and unconditional love. A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 1998 at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern @ Magee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association in his memory.

MARTINEZ, Casimiro V., 85, died December 29, 1997. Husband of Carolina Martinez. Graveside Service 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 1998 at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

Gregg Ransburg, 88, of Tucson, died December 26, 1997. He is survived by wife, Marjory; daughters, Susan and Sally and two grandsons, Evan and Gregg. Mr. Ransburg was involved in many activities which included working with Jr. Chamber of Commerce on allowing a city to choose city manager instead of mayor. He worked on Passage of The ”Right to Work” Law, was a member of the Draft Board for 12 years and Trustee of Indiana College which is now the University of Indianapolis. He served on the Board of Humanics in Kansas City, MO, Trustee of Indiana Reformatory, member of Governors Clemency Commission and Indianapolis Crime Commission, served on the Advisory Board to the Commissioner of Corrections, Fletcher Avenue Community Center, founding director of Settlement Camping and Board of Chamber of Commerce as well as Jr. Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Ransburg was president of Central Indiana Council Boy Scouts of America, Boy Scout Region Seven Executive Committee, Contributor and Instrumental in the Development of Camp Ransburg, Board of Salvation Army, Trustee of Beta Theta Pi Scholarship Fund and Navy League. He was on the Board of Wheeler City Rescue Mission, Citizens School Committee (worked on for two elections), Greater Indianapolis Republican Finance Committee, Board of Citizens Gas CO., and Board of St. Francis Hospital. He was awarded the Boy Scout Region Seven Silver Antelope Award and Boy Scout Council Silver Beaver Award. He was a Mason and Shriner, belonged to the Scottish Rite, Junto and Kiwanis Club. Memberships include Turtle Lake Club, Meridian Hills Country Club, Skyline Country Club, Columbia Club, Southern Cross Club, Brown County Country Club, Bloomington Elks Club, Wild Wood Valley Hunt Club, Pontiac Club, Indianapolis Athletic Club and the Economic Club of Tucson, AZ. He was on the Central Indiana Council. A private memorial service will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Crossroads of America Council, Boy Scouts of America, Direct to Camp R. or in memory of Gregg Ransburg, 1900 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN., 46206-1966 or the charity of your choice. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus Blvd. Tucson, AZ 85711.

RASMUSSEN, Katherine Elizabeth, 85, of Tucson, AZ died December 26, 1997. Survived by daughter, Pat Rieff (Gerald); son, Al Jastre (Diane); daughter, Barbara Luloff (Donald); daughter, Karen Nunes; son, Norb Rasmussen (Jennie); daughter, Sally Fetkavich (Scott); daughter, Mary Lou Stevens (Phil); 23 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 2, 1998 at Our Lady of Fatima, 1950 W. Irvington with Father Peter McGloin officiating. Visitation Thursday, January 1, 1998 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park. Interment at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave.

SANDBERG, Carl T., Sr., 77, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his beloved family – the most important thing in his life. Carl ”Ted” had fought a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Marquette, MI to Albert and Marie Sandberg and moved to Rockford, IL with the Sandberg family in 1937. He worked at Rockford Screw Products until serving in the Seabees in 1944, and from there moved to Malta, IL in 1947 where he owned and operated Sandberg Electric. On May 15, 1943 he married the love of his life Eudoris ”Dolly” Toppe and to this union were born Carl, Jr. and Joan. In 1959 he moved his family to Tucson in search of a better climate for his wife. There he became a real estate broker and formed Sandberg Realty which he operated by himself until his retirement in 1985. He also did land negotiations for several mining companies. He loved Arizona, especially the city of Tucson, and left no doubt how he felt about the GREAT SOUTHWEST. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and best friend, Dolly; his son, Carl Jr. and his wife Carol; his daughter, Joan and her husband Stuart Rubin; grandchildren, Danielle, Adam and Brittany Rubin, Erik Sandberg and Daniel and Kenneth Reid; his brothers, Clyde, Edmond and Floyd Sandberg of Rockford, Del of Malta, IL and brother-in-law, Lars Steinsbo of Rockford, also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Evelyn Steinsbo and brother, Robert Sandberg. A special thank you to the team of nurses from Quality Lifestyles Agency for their capable and caring help and to TMC Hospice. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 31 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 750 W. Chapala Dr. with Rev. Thomas C. E. Lobaugh officiating. Carl was a very special man and touched the lives of many, many people.

STENGER, Lucille I., 90, died December 20, 1997. Mother of Elaine Nickerson of Tucson and Donald D. Stenger of San Diego, CA. Grandmother of Mark D. Nickerson, Fred E. Stenger, Martin E. Stenger; six great-grandchildren also survive. Memorial Service, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 1998 at St. Albans Episcopal Church, 3737 N. Sabino Canyon Road. TOMEI, Joseph Gilbert, 56, died December 29, 1997. Husband of Judith Tomei of Tucson; father of Scott Tomei of Phoenix, Christopher Tomei and Andrew Tomei both of Tucson. Brother of Joyce (Robert) Winner of Clymer, NY. Scripture Service 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 31, 1997 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. WAGNER, Robert E., 65, of Tucson, AZ, died at home Monday, December 29, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Lee Pieper Wagner; son, Eric Robert Wagner of Corona, CA and daughter, Elizabeth Anne Wagner of Tucson; sisters, Linnet Miller of Tremont, PA, Dawn Kimmel of Tower City, PA; brothers John F. Wagner of Lititz, PA, Arthur L. Ritzman of Odenton, MD, Carl Ritzman of Macungle, PA, Terry Ritzman of Pine Grove, PA and Claude Ritzman of Pine Grove, PA. Bob was born in Tremont, PA, graduated from Kutztown University with a mathematics degree and was listed in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. Bob served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957. He worked for the IBM Corporation for 28 years in Bethesda, MD, San Jose, CA, Tucson, AZ and Greenford, England. Bob received the IBM Outstanding Contribution Award for his Architecture of Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM). Bob was an active volunteer for the AARP Tax Counseling for the Elderly program at the Columbus Library, an instructor and coach for the SeniorNet of Tucson Learning Center, and as a Toastmaster of four Tucson Clubs, fostered Youth Leadership programs at several Tucson area high schools for which he received the District 3 (all of Arizona except Yuma)Toastmasters Betty Gillis Youth Leadership Award 1996-1997. Bob was named District 3 Toastmaster of the Year for 1994-1995. Bob was a longtime member of the East Side Elks Lodge #2532 and served as Drug Awareness chair for the Lodge. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 3, 1998 at 1:00 p.m. at the East Side Elks Lodge, 615 S. Pantano, Tucson, AZ. At a date to be determined, there will also be a memorial service in Fearnot, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Ralph C. Smedley Memorial Fund, Toastmasters International, P.O. Box 9052, Mission Viego, CA 92690. Arrangements by HUDGEL’S SWAN FUNERAL HOME.

WARD, Warren Walter Sr., 67 years old, died Sunday December 28, 1997 in Tucson. In memory of our loving husband, father and grandfather you will always be with us. Survived by his wife, Rayline Ward; children, Warren Walter Ward Jr. of Tucson, Edwin John Ward of Tucson, Ruth Ann Arrington (Tony) of Mesa, John Alexander Ward of Tucson, Melanie May Sauer (Jim) of Tucson, Christian George Ward (Gayle) of Tucson, Helen Ruth Johnson (Don) of Vermont, Walter Thomas Ward of Tucson; two stepdaughters, Lorna Marie Bozzo and Dawn Danielle Bozzo both of Tucson; two brothers, Edwin Ward and William (Dottie) Ward both of New York; two sisters, Lillian Verity and Diane Williams both of New York. WILKINSON, Ralph Edward, 47, of Tucson, died December 23, 1997. Preceded in death by his father, Leroy Wilkinson Sr. Survived by loving wife of 28 years, Rose; two children, Ralph Jr. (Tina) and James; one grandchild, Cory; three brothers, Leroy Jr. George, and Larry; two sisters, Trudy (Tom) Schuster and Linda McNillis; and his mother, Mary Wilkinson; and several nieces and nephews. Ralph was a Master Sargent in the Air Force for 20 years with numerous stateside and overseas assignments, including the Republic of Vietnam 1970 – 71. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and several other military honors. Ralph was a loving husband, father, brother and son. He will be greatly missed. WILLIAMS, Norman W., born in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1922, died at Carondelet Hospice, Sahuarita, AZ, Monday, December 29, 1997. First Lt. US Army Rangers, WW II, Combat Infantry Badge and the Purple Heart. Retired Executive Vice President and General Manger, Mae Broadcasting Co.Preceded in death by wife, Lois T. Williams. Survived by sister, Virginia Offley, Springfield, Oregon; son, John Williams, Las Cruces, NM; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Kay Williams, Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Erin Williams, Colleen Williams and Mickey Williams, Omaha, NE and devoted and loving friend, Nancy Blanton, Green Valley, AZ. BOUDREAU, Paul, of Tucson, passed away December 27, 1997. Born in Montreal, Canada on April 17, 1918. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of 54 years. He is also survived by seven children; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, all living in Minnesota. CAMPBELL, Lt. Col. Robert Wilson, USAF, Ret., 81 of Hays, KS, died Friday, December 26, 1997 in Hays. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Campbell; children, Diane Seibert of Alexandria, KY, Bobbie Hood of Phoenix, AZ; grandsons, Robert Seibert, Steven Hood, Daniel Hood; two great-granddaughters; brothers, Carl Campbell of CO, Elton Campbell of MT and sister, Edith Wells of CO. CAPANEAR, Connie M., 91, of Tucson, died December 25, 1997. Loving mother of Donald, Joseph and Jerry and also survived by 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Chapel Services, Tuesday at noon, EVERGREEN MORTUARY, with Rev. Tony McNamara O. Carm officiating. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile. She will be greatly missed.

William ”Willie” Dawson - Passed away December 23, 1997 at the age of 73. Preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Dawson; brothers, Danny, Eddie, and Charlie. Survived by brother, Fred (Ruby) Dawson; sisters, Nina Avenenti, Mary Lopez, Lucy (Dave) Valenzuela of Tucson and Sarah (Frank) Padilla of Phoenix. He was born and raised in Patagonia, AZ. He served a short time in the Army. Willie was a bus driver for the city of Tucson (Laos Bus Co.), and retired from the Postal Service. He was also involved with Meals on Wheels and transporting disabled people. Memorial services were held December 29, 1997 at South Lawn Mortuary.

DICKERMAN, Kenneth Blood, beloved husband and father, passed away after a prolonged illness on December 27, 1997.Survived by wife, Naomi; son, Al Cross, both of Tucson; daughter, Mutsco Klinger of CA; granddaughter, Shirley Graham of CO. Memorial Services will be held December 31, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. at Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 1743 W. Wetmore Rd. Tucson.

DORR, Eva Frances (Mautino), 85, passed away on December 26, 1997. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis A. Dorr. Eva is survived by her sisters, Christine Binder of Forest Park, IL, and Natalie Descoteaux of Tucson, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews across the country. Eva and her husband moved to Tucson from Waterbury, Connecticut, 50 years ago. Eva’s career as a secretary was spent primarily in the insurance industry, and she retired from Snodgrass Lovitt Downey & Touche in 1977. A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on December 31, at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church. Donations can be made to St. Cyril’s Parochial School.

ENNIS, Elond A., October 17, 1910 to December 23, 1997. Left us to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Beula Ennis on December 23, 1997. He will be greatly missed by all his friends at Mesa Ridge, Rest in Peace. We Love You. Susy, Gilbert and Kids.
