MELLEN, Robert E. - Mr. Robert E. Mellen of Tucson passed away peacefully at home on December 21, 1997. He was a resident of Arizona since 1960 and is survived by his loving wife, Gail Mellen; three daughters, Susan Barefoot, Cindy Arrebollo, and Ruthann Poole; one son, Steven Mellen; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by a brother, Lloyd Mellen of Michigan and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Mellen served in both Marine Corp. and Navy Reserve before going to work at Duval/Cyprus Mines of Sahuarita. He was retired after 25 years of service with Cyprus.

COLLINS, Paul Alan, born, December 15, 1943, died, December 18, 1997. Paul A.Collins died after a short illness at the Northwest Hospital.
He and his wife, Brenda, had lived and worked in the Tucson area for over 25 years; working for Howard W. Miller at Wild Horse Ranch, several apartment complexes, and owned Copy Boy Print Shop at Oracle and Magee in Tucson from 1988 to 1996.
Paul is the son of the late Maymie Lee and Rollin Carlton Snoddy of Nashville, TN. Survived by brothers, Leslie, Marvin and Thomas; sisters, Devola, Harvine, and Evelyn. He was the baby of seven.
Paul is survived by his wife of 28 years, Brenda S. Collins; and his children, Deborah ”Dee Dee” Collins and Timothy A. Collins. He had one grandchild, his ”extra special girlfriend”, Sedona Marie Rielly.

Bob Foster, 61, went to join the Lord on December 21, 1997. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan, four children and their spouses Debra Mullen (Joseph), Scott (Jvonnie), Teresa Pokrant (Todd) and Jeff (Christina). Bob will also be greatly missed by his five grandchildren. Mr. Foster is also survived by his sister, Betty May and her husband, Lawrence, who reside in Colorado. Bob Foster and his family moved to Tucson in 1967 from Madison, WI. He graduated from the University of Arizona in 1976 and was a Certified Public Accountant. He was active in church and served in many leadership capacities at Catalina Baptist Church. In 1988, the Fosters were among the first group of people to move to Saddle Brooke, where Bob immediately became involved in the growing community. Bob loved the Lord and believed in using his talents for the good of others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and to serve where needed. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, December 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Catalina Baptist Church, 1900 N. Country Club. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the TMC Hospice or the American Cancer Society. George Chester Squire, 80, of Tucson, died December 22, 1997 after a long illness. A multitude of loved ones and friends welcomed him into the presence of his Lord. He was born to Chester Randel Squire and Margaret Pearl O’Brien Squire on January 10, 1917 in Humboldt, KS. In his youth, George began developing entrepreneurial skills by bartering his labor for fur traps. From about 1935 to 1937, he attended college in Missoula, MT where he majored in forestry. Following college, George was an entrepreneur in many areas of agriculture. His achievements included founding and operating a seed company in Bottineau, MD. During World War II when materials were hard to obtain, George managed to build the structure that still houses a seed company. He farmed several sections of land and learned to crop-dust his wheat and produce. In the early 1950's, he moved to southern Arizona where he met Carmen Andrade. They were married in June 1955. Four children resulted from this union. They spent two years of their early-married life in Hawaii where George was a heavy-equipment mechanic. After returning to Tucson, he worked for Triple T Truck Stop where his position advanced to manager. He left Triple T after 30 plus years, and spent latter years gardening and doting on his grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Squire and a sister, Mary Margaret Dreher. He is survived by his wife, Carmen, of 42 years; sons, Chester Squire, Robert Squire and William David Squire; daughter, Deninne (Jesus) Felix all of Tucson; a sister, Helen Elizabeth Hinton of Spokane, WA. He is also survived by seven loving grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rosary will be held 7:30 p.m. at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, on December 26 and Memorial Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., December 27 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Rd., Tucson. Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Desert. George, a loving husband, father and Tata will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Sydney Brown DeVore, local house designer and benefactor passed away December 6, 1997 of cancer. Sydney DeVore, 56, first made Tucson her home sixteen years ago. Before coming to Tucson, Sydney divided her time between Massachusetts, where she grew up and lived, and Vermont where she kept a second home. She attended the Walnut Hill School, Northwestern University and Harvard University. She gave generously of her time and support to the Tucson Museum of Art, Angel Charity and many other organizations both locally and national. She was the designer of a local development and numerous Southwestern style homes in the Tucson area. Sydney was the daughter of Dr. Gordon Stanley Brown and Jean Elizabeth Brown and was the beloved mother to two children, Samuel Carver DeVore and Laurel DeVore Acevedo. Her family and friends also include her beloved companion, Silas Shultz; daughter-in-law, Alison DeVore; son-in-law, Alex Acevedo; Russell Brown, Sara Kukuk; brother, Stanley Brown. Sydney Brown DeVore leaves behind a family and community enriched by her creative spirit and devotion to others. She will be greatly missed by everyone. A Memorial Service will be held at Saint Phillips in the Hills Church on Sat., Jan. 25, 1998 at 2:00 p.m.
DILORENZO, Arthur, 86, of Tucson, died December 20, 1997. He is preceded by his wife of 43 years Lucille “Luke” Ann Dilorenzo. Survivors include sons, David Dilorenzo of Tempe, AZ, and Fred “Fritz” Dilorenzo of Idaho Springs, ID; sisters, Sabina Faba of Albuquerque, NM, Betty Hurta of Jal, MN, Pearl Carlint of Raton, MN, Lucille Fisher of Dearborn Heights, MI, Dorothy Tome of Pasadena, CA; and brother, Toby Dilorenzo of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Dilorenzo is also preceded by sisters, Jenny Dilorenzo and Alice Howard. Mr. Dilorenzo has been a member of St. Peter and Paul Church for 46 years, he is also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
