BUDDE, Kathleen Sue (Waller), 37, born July 12, 1960 in Seattle, Washington, died November 30, 1997. The wife of Russ Budde of Tucson and the mother of three delightful children, Chrystal Jo (13), Pearle Juanita (eight) and Robert Lawrence (three). She is survived by parents, Rev. Bob and Juanita Waller of Seattle; brother, T. Mark Waller and sister, Melanie Joy Waller of Kennewick, Washington. Kathleen was a student in elementary school in Seattle and Des Moines, WA. High school at Mt. Rainier in Des Moines. She and Russ were married in 1981 by her father and grandfather and recently celebrated their 16th anniversary. She was a quiet and graceful lady who battled cancer for almost four years. She was determined to show her children, loved ones and friends that she was not going to give up, and exhibited her love and trust in God until he called her home. All who have known her give witness to her indomitable spirit which will give hope now in their loss and grief. What a magnificent, caring woman. A wonderful mother and a great wife. Anna K. Egleston, born October 13, 1898 in New York. Passed away November 28, 1997 in Glendale, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Egleston; children, May and David; granddaughters, Deborah and Dorothy Huls; grandson, Craig West; and great-grandson, Rusty Vossler. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Harold) Huls, Phillip (Dorothy) Egleston, and Ruth (Donald) West. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. Ann married Charles Egleston on June 18, 1919 in Southampton, Mass. They moved to Tucson in 1928 where they raised their family, operated WEECO Contractors, and became involved in the church community. Ann was an active member of Palo Verde Baptist Church, volunteer for the Beacon Foundation, and longtime missionary to the various Arizona Indian Reservations. Visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY AND CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave.. Luz Marina Gomez-Smith, 45, beloved wife of James F. Smith, died November 29, 1997 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mrs. Gomez-Smith, who had resided in Tucson since 1992, was Colombian by birth and a naturalized U.S. Citizen. She was an attorney, holding a doctorate in Law from Catholic University of Bogota, where she was in private practice before coming to the United States. Mrs. Gomez-Smith leaves a son, Juan Carlos Caicedo of Tucson; a daughter, Ana Maria Caicedo of Atlanta; her father, Biviano; two sisters, Renata of Bogota and Marcela of Boston; and a brother, Julio Guillermo of Bogota. Catherine Naomi Hufnagle, born November 17, 1909, went home to be with Jesus on November 28, 1997. Survivors include her only son, Billy Joe (Dorothea) Warner; grandchildren, Cathy, Sue, Ronna, Jocelyn, Jamie, April and Billy; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; one brother, Harold (Mae) Custer of Arcanum, Ohio plus many nieces and nephews. Catherine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernie in Abilene, Texas, where she lived for over 30 years and has many beloved friends. Her 35-year association with Avon as a representative was a source of great pride and was evident in the many awards she received. She was a member of Streams in the Desert Lutheran Church, 5360 E. Pima St., where memorial donations can be made to their Sunday school in her name. Catherine was loved by many and will be greatly missed. MONREAL, Frank M. “Pancho”, 56, born February 2, 1941 of Tucson went to be with our Lord on November 28, 1997. Preceded in death by his father, Francisco U. Monreal; and brother, Alfredo M. Monreal, and tia, Jesusita M. Godoy. Survived by his mother, Dolores M. Monreal; and his children, Sylvia (Roy) Camarena, Jose (Christina) Monreal, Genevieve (Frank) Landavaso, Jennifer (Joseph) Landavaso, Alice (Tony) Rascon, David (Martha) Monreal; his brother, Fernando (Edna) Monreal; sisters, Virginia “Genie” (Joe) Herrera, Dolores Perez. He was also blessed with 18 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Monreal worked for 20 years with the City of Tucson. He also worked for Hayden Flour Mill. But above all his accomplishments he was a very loving father, grandfather and a loving son that took care of his parents throughout his life. NELSON, William Henry, born June 20, 1921 in Carlisle, PA. On November 28, 1997 peacefully joined his wife, Rita Irma Nelson (December 10, 1987), surrounded by his entire family at home. Bill proudly served with the Military Police in Europe during WWII. He and Rita moved to Tucson in 1951 to make their home, where they lovingly raised five children. For over 30 years he was a member of the United Association of Plumbers and Fitters, and for 21 concurrent years was a brother in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Bill freely gave of his time and resources to St. Joseph Parish in his early years and then later was equally giving to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Through these Parishes and the Irish American Club he has maintained many rewarding friendships. Bill is survived by daughter, Sheila (TJ) Council; son, Bill (Dianne) Nelson; daughter, Mary (Joe) Hannigan; son, Paul (Mary) Nelson; son, Ron Nelson; 11 grandchildren, Theresa (Jeff), Tonya (Chris), Tiffiney (LaVar), Jesse, Bill, Luke, Henry, John, Jacob, Rita, and Samantha; two great-grandchildren, Synjyn and Alyssa. All his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were by his side as he passed from this life into the next. STRINGHAM, Joy Roberta Callen, died November 28, 1997 at home in Tucson surrounded by loved ones. She was born October 28, 1930 to Tom and Fern Callen at Wendell, Idaho. She attended elementary and high schools at Jerome, Idaho and Colorado Women’s College, Denver, Colorado. She married James Richard Stringham June 3, 1950 at Twin Falls, Idaho. She and her husband lived in Mexico and then Nicaragua and returned to the United States to live in Tucson, Arizona. During the years she spent in Tucson, she was an active volunteer at Tucson Medical Center (TMC). One of the jobs she did there was to work as a Spanish assistant, translating for medical staff. She also served as president of the TMC Auxiliary in the 1983 to 1984 term. At the time of her illness one of her main positions was as a volunteer in the TMC Auxiliary gift shop, which she particularly enjoyed. She also worked at the TMC Labor and Delivery desk. She was well-known and cared for by hospital staff and auxilians. She was a member of the Board of Harold Bell Wright Estate Neighborhood Association. ”She was the best neighbor a person could have.” She fought a dignified, valiant, and courageous fight in the past three months with brain cancer. The family would like to thank the caregivers, S. Dollard, RN and L. White, ACSW, from TMC Hospice, and B. Spaniol, RN, for the help and dedication in her care. She was survived by her six children, Daniel (Ida) Stringham, Managua, Nicaragua; Janice (Russ) Boutiette (Massachusetts); Fern (Rick) Stringham-Kempa, Rock Springs, Wyoming; and Patricia Stringham, Leslie Stringham, and John (Cindy) Stringham, all of Tucson, Arizona; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandson; brother, D.R. (Erma Lee) Callen, Hollister, Idaho; sister, Blanche (Ralph) Peters and Jerry (Patricia) Callen of Jerome, Idaho also survived her. Her husband, her parents, and two brothers preceded her in death. There will be a memorial service at Catalina United Methodist Church, 2700 E. Speedway Blvd., Saturday, December 6 at 1:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will also be held in Jerome, Idaho at a date and time to be announced. DAIGH, Marvin Raymond, 84, of Catalina, died November 25, 1997. Survived by son, Richard P. Daigh, of Traverse City, MI; and daughter, Constance Fletcher of Fairfax, VA; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Celia H. Daigh, who passed away in October, 1997. Mr. Daigh was a graduate of the University of Illinois, class of 1938. He retired in 1963 after a 23-year career in the U. S. Air Force. He then worked for the University of Arizona as Assistant Manager of Custodial Services, retiring in 1978. He was an avid artist and spent his retirement enjoying this pastime, along with reading.
