VITO, Martha Augusta Hermes, 81, died February 4, 1998 at her home in Green Valley. Survived by her husband, Philip B. Vito; daughter, Melissa M. Vito and her husband, Charles A. Bollong; her beloved twin grandchildren, Anthony and Zachary; and her many, many friends whose lives she touched. Mrs. Vito was born in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky and moved to Arizona in 1918. In the 1940's she was a Legal Secretary. She worked for the City of Tucson as Director of Tucson Convention and Visitors Bureau and retired in 1979 after 10 years. A graduate of University of Arizona Class of 1937; member of Kappa Kappa Gamma; Junior League; Newman Center Sustaining Board; Alpha Epsilon Business Fraternity; First woman elected to Board of International Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus; Lifetime Member of Arizona Association of Association Executives; received many, many awards and recognition during her years in the Tucson Community. WALKER, Annie Laure Ashford, Graveside Services for Annie, age 80, who passed away Saturday, January 31, were conducted Wednesday, February 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Wards Canyon Cemetery in Clifton, AZ.
Annie, was born November 1, 1917 in Mogollon, NM. She married Joe Ashford on January 12, 1934, they spent 37 years in Morenci and San Manuel area. Widowed in August 1971, Annie resided in Oracle, AZ. She then re-married Leon Walker of York Valley on February 11, 1977, where she has lived for the past 21 years.
Annie is survived by her daughters, Betty Gray of Buckley, WA, Jo Ann Daniels of Tucson, AZ, Melva Watts of Phoenix, AZ; son, Fred Ashford of Oracle, AZ; one brother, Don Smith; and one nephew, Robert Joy Smith. There are 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

GIBSON, Laura Frances, 78, of Tucson, died Wednesday, February 4, 1998. She was preceded in death by her parents, George E. Keeling and Adda F. Hall of New Castle, PA, and her husband, Stewart A. Gibson. She is survived by her children, John (Rosemary) Tindall-Gibson, Rebecca (Greg) Linaman, Jeff (Shirley) Gibson; brother, George Keeling; sisters, Lillis Morrison, Wanda Zeigler, Agnes Wilson; and nine grandchildren. Mrs. Gibson was born on June 26, 1919 in Youngstown, Ohio and in her early years lived in New Castle, PA. She moved to Tucson in 1956 where she raised her family and worked with Stewart in the Air Conditioning Business. After retiring, she and Stewart enjoyed seaside living in Mexico. In 1979, they moved to the mountains in Walker, AZ. Laura returned to Tucson in 1987 after Stewart's death. Laura enjoyed life through homemaking, gardening, outdoor activities and her loved ones. C. Gale Sellens, born November 23, 1924, Russell, KS, died February 1, 1998 at his winter home in Tucson after a courageous battle with cancer. Loving family includes: wife, Kay; daughters, Linda Bogacz, Diane Smith; sons, William (all of Colorado) and Mark (deceased); stepdaughters, Patricia Frye of TX and Cathrine Kimme of IL; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one great-grandson and a host of faithful friends. WOON, Daisy, age 86, passed away on February 1, 1998 in Cerritos, California. She was born in Canton, China on August 15, 1912. Along with her late husband, David, Daisy established the first grocery store chain in Tucson. After the death of her husband, she was a long-time owner and operator of Farmer's Market & Liquors on Miracle Mile.
