SCHWARZ, Erwin, age 93, formerly of New York and 23-year resident of Tucson, died in Gaithersburg, Maryland on February 1, 1998. He was married to the late Louise Lasker Schwarz for more than 40 years and leaves his wife of 23 years, Julia B. (Judy) Schwarz; three children, Arthur of Scarsdale, NY, Peggy Akin of Phoenix, and John of Tucson; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
After moving to Tucson in 1974, he taught at the Greenfields School and also served as Treasurer of the Arizona Friends of Music. A man of wide-ranging interests and talents, he devoted much of his life to learning and to teaching, he loved music, gardens, books and most of all, young people.

SELLENS, C. Gale, born November 23, 1924, Russell, KS, died February 1, 1998at his winter home in Tucson after a courageous battle with cancer. WOON, Daisy, age 86, passed away on February 1, 1998 in Cerritos, California. She was born in Canton, China on August 15, 1912. Along with her late husband, David, Daisy established the first grocery store chain in Tucson. Fritz Bernard, long-time Tucsonan and retired swimming pool contractor, died at TMC February 2, 1998 after a massive heart attack. His pioneer family came to Tucson in the 1870's. Fritz attended Tucson schools, played football at Tucson High School and the University of Arizona, and was a pilot in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Bernard; five children; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson. She is survived by her husband of 33 years; and her three sons, John and wife Laureen from Colorado, Robert from Texas and Dan and wife Hope from Arizona; also her grandson, Logan; and her granddaughters, Jacklyn and Sidney; and her brothers, Nobuyuki, Akihiko, Tetsuya and Takashi; and sisters, Shizuko, all of Japan, and Mieko Smith of Wenatchee, Washington.
