HUMMER, Hubert M., 80, died January 25, 1998. Born May 31, 1917 in Cleveland, OH to Ora and Rose Hummer. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary E. Hummer and daughter, Dessa Rose Mesquita. Survived by four sons, Lawrence H. (Mary J.) of Racine, WI, Harold D. (Jennie L.) of Tucson, John H. of Holbrook, AZ and Leon (Judy) of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Mary K. (Jim) Kling of Tucson; son-in-law, Jose Mesquita; 13 grandchildren also survive. Mr. Hummer was a veteran of East African campaign and European invasion during WWII; Lifetime member, former district officer and Post Commander of the V.F.W. Also active in Three Points Community Affairs, along time member of St. John's Parish and a Veteran's Hospital volunteer. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 1998 at BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 1998 at St. John's Catholic Church, 602 W. Ajo Way. Burial will be in Tucson Memorial Park South Lawn. Donations in Mr.Hummer's name may be made to Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, One Wacker Drive, Suite 2430, Chicago, IL 60601-1905 in lieu of flowers or gifts. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 1998 at BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

MAYBERRY, Vernita H., 91, of Tucson, died January 25, 1998 at her residence. Mrs. Mayberry is preceded in death by her husband of almost 70 years, Harry; and two sons, Leroy and Kenneth. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Mayberry Brien; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister; and two brothers. Friends may call at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, (Dodge Chapel), 1050 N. Dodge (at Speedway), on Thursday, January 29, 1998 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with Services at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at South Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salvation Army Meals on Wheels.

Antonia T. Quintero, 84, of Tucson, passed away January 25, 1998. Survived by daughters, Marina T. Yniguez and Frances T. Herrera; brothers, Benjamin Quintero and Marcos A. Torres; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 1998 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 South Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be offered on Friday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Margaret's Church. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY INC.

Sophie Reitz, born December 29, 1912 in Chicago, IL, joined her Savior on January 24, 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; and sons, Wayne and Ray. She leaves her loving family: daughter, Marlene (Jack) Fagan; son, George (Carrie of Tucson and Shirley Camera of FL. She also leaves grandchildren, Pamela (Mike), Hap, Rhonda, Wendy (Peter), Patrick (Ceres), Mark, Kelly, Casey, Erin (Derbe), Anne Marie and Victoria. She also leaves 11 great-grandchildren. Sophie, a parishioner since 1950 of Sacred Heart Catholic Church was very active in church charities and was one of the original 'doughnut makers'. She will be missed by her long time friends in the 'Birthday Club', especially Helen Kobida. Sophie supported the Reach Out program, crocheting many, many baby blankets. Her coffee cakes were legendary at church bake sales. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Carondelet St. Joseph's Hospice. Their caring and compassion was far beyond the call of duty. Donations may be made in Sophie's name to Carondelet St. Joseph's Hospice. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 27, 1998 at ARIZONA MORTUARY, University & Stone, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary to follow. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church, Ft. Lowell and 1st Avenue, at 9:00 a.m. with interment at Holy Hope Mausoleum. A reception at Sacred Heart parish hall for family and friends will be held immediately following the service.

RUBIN, Anna, 98, of Tucson, died January 24, 1998. Graveside Services, 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, Evergreen Cemetery, Temple Emanu-El Section. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle and W. Miracle Mile.

SCHAEFFER, Anna, known to all of us as Mo-Mo, died Monday, January 26, 1998. She was born August 21, 1920. Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Schaeffer; and daughter, Mary Buttacavoli. Survived by three daughters, Carol Vetrano (George), Barba Vetrano (Henry), Helen Leverton (Steve); 15 grandchildren, George Vetrano Jr., Paul Vetrano (Linda), Thomas Vetrano (Michelle), Tammy Vetrano, Anthony Schaeffer (Amy), Mario Vetrano (Lori), Guy Vetrano, Lisa Buttacavoli, James Leverton (Kelly), Gena Johnson (Brent), Al Buttacavoli, Richard Leverton (Amy), Kim Buttacavoli, William Vetrano, Thomas Buttacavoli; seven great-grandchildren, Brandon, Nicolas, Leah, Joseph, Isaiah, Sherri and Michael. She brought great joy and love to her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who were loved and touched by her. Visitation will be held, Tuesday, January 27, 1998, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee. A Mass will be held 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 1998 at St. Odilia Catholic Church, 7570 N. Paseo Del Norte. Burial will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.

WALKER, Elsie Marie Hazel, a Tucson resident for 51 years, was born in Chicago, IL and passed into rest on January 14, 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lyle Walker and their elder son, Ronald Walker. She is survived by their son, Vernon Robert Walker (Patricia) of Tucson, and by grandsons, Robert and Jeffrey; great-grandsons, Andrew and Timothy and by Ronald's sons, Vincent and Michael. She engaged in many activities; her hobbies included the theater, oil painting and jazz piano. A Memorial Service will be held at Desert Skies United Methodist Church, 3255 N. Houghton Road, on Saturday, January 31 at 3:00 p.m. Rather than gifts of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Desert Skies United Methodist Church or to The Invisible Theater at 1400 N. Carmela Corral, 51, passed away January 23, 1998 in Tucson, AZ. She was born July 18, 1946 in Bronx, New York. She is preceded in death by father, Joseph Cuccio. Survived by husband, Arthur; sons, Michael (Andrea) of San Diego and Eric of Tucson; grandchildren, Lupita, Alexis, Cynthia, Eric, and Reyman; mother, Josephine 'Dolly' Cuccio; sisters, Marie (Richard) Wilson, Carolann (Arthur) Federico, Helen (Jim) Paul; brother, Joseph Cuccio; aunt and uncle, Marge and Gene Longo. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She brought great joy and love to her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who were loved and touched by her. Visitation will be held Monday, January 26, 1998 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, South Chapel, 240 S. DONOHUE, Richard E., 71, died Thursday, January 22, 1990 in Tucson. Born November 24, 1926 in Dillsburg, PA. Survived by two sons, Mark Edward Donohue, Matthew Thomas Donohue, both of Tucson; two daughters, Holli Jo Mays of Tucson; Noel Georgette Cole of Vail, CO; four grandchildren. A caring father and grandfather. Gave his wife and family strength through his courage, integrity, understanding, and unconditional dependability. Always forgiving and supportive. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, January 27, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1101 S. Melpomene Way, Tucson. FLORY, Wesley W., passed away January 24, 1998. Born in Baldwin, KS on August 3, 1911, he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Clara. Services are pending with HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 North Columbus Blvd.

FOX, Gordon Harold, 76, died January 22, 1998. Husband of Maxine A. Fox of Tucson; father of Jon Fox of San Antonio, TX and Don Fox of Tucson; brother of Jack Fox of Punta Gorda, FL and Max Fox of Tucson. He was a WWII Air Force Veteran. No Services planned at this time. Donations, in Gordon Harold Fox's memory, may be made to Tucson Medical Center Hospice or any Hospice organization of your choice. James Jay McCall, 19, died January 22, 1998. He was born February 13, 1978. Survived by father, Jay Joseph McCall and mother, Catherine Reidy McCall; sisters, Bridget McCall and Meredith McCall and member of the James B. Reidy family. Jim was a graduate of Salpointe Catholic High School Class of 1996. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 26, 1998 with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Newman Catholic Student Center, 1615 E. Second Street, Tuesday, January 27, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Arizona Daily Star Sportsman Fund, P.O. Box 16141, Tucson, AZ 85732 or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 1 E. Camelback, Ste. 605, Phoenix, AZ 85012. Jim was an organ donor.

PAGE, William N., joined his friend and mentor, 'Mr. God', on January 23, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Jean; and two children, Stephen of Indianapolis, IN, and Nancy of Janesville, WI. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna May (Griffin) Page, whom he married in 1941. Bill was born in Richmond, IN in 1911 and was employed as a manufacturing consultant by International Harvester in Canton, IL, for 35 years, retiring in 1973. He moved to Arizona in 1977, first living in Tucson, then Green Valley for ten years. Bill served in WWII as a Unit Commander in the China/Burma Theatre. A Memorial Mass will be offered at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27 at St. Frances Cabrini Church, Country Club and Presidio. The family gratefully acknowledges the devotion of the staff and hospice family care team at El Dorado Hospital. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

SANDERS, Eloise E., 76, died January 20, 1998. Survived by her children, Sandy, Shirlee, Souixan, Lucinda, Jeff and George, and nine grandchildren. Eloise was a resident of Tucson for the past 23 years, an administrative assistant at Emily Gray Jr. High School. Private family services were held. CASTRO, Robert, 57 yrs. old, died Sunday, January 18, 1998 in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. Born on August 19, 1940 in Casa Grande, AZ. Preceded in death by son, Robert A. Castro who passed away on August 25, 1997. Survived by his wife, Mary Castro of Tucson; daughter-in-law, Gerrie Castro of Tucson; two sons, Michael and Richard Castro both of Tucson; three daughters, Doreen (Richard) Bejarano, Christina and Denise Castro all of Tucson; two grandchildren, Lorraine and Richie Bejarano of Tucson; and family friend, Frank Canez. LAMBE, James Nidelet, 81, died January 21, 1998. Husband of Dorothy Lambe for 57 years; father of Bill Lambe of EL Sob Rante, CA and Nancy Woods of San Meteo, CA; one grandson, Jordan Woods also survive. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri and a member of BPOE #385 and a veteran of WWII Army Air Corp. Memorial Service 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 26, 1998 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. SCHULZ, Donald D., Tech Sergeant, born October 25, 1933 in Stockport, Iowa, died January 21, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Shirley J. Schulz; daughters, Donna of Carlsbad, NM, Linda of Spring, TX, and Jeri of Amarillo, TX; son, Donald Dean Jr. of Mc Phearson, KS.; 10 grandchildren; one great grandchild as well as six sisters. Mr. Schulz retired after 20 years in the Air Force. He worked at Duval Mines for 12 years, ad also at Aztec Air Conditioning. He was a life member of VFW #549 in Tucson and a Mason #590 in Les Cheneau, Michigan. Services will be private. SIEGFRIED, Susan Margaret, 57, of Tucson, passed away January 21, 1998. Preceded in death by her parents, William Frederick and Susan Margaret Miller of Phoenix. Survived by husband, Chuck Siegfried; daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Wilkins; granddaughter, Makayla Wilkins; and brother, Bill Miller. She brought great joy to her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who were loved and touched by her.
