HAUSLER, Gilbert Kirby, died Monday, March 23, 1998 in Phoenix. He was born in Chicago on February 1, 1915. Gil first came to Tucson in 1937 as a mechanic for American Airlines and worked for Consolidated Aircraft, Hughes Aircraft, and retired from Allied Signal in Phoenix. He was active in the American Airlines Three Diamond Society, the OX-5 Club and the Experimental Aircraft Association. He is survived by his wife, Marie; son, Gary; and two grandchildren. Burial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, at South Lawn Cemetery in Tucson.
HORWITZ, Rita, 85, passed away March 26, 1998. She was the daughter of Leo and Marion Goldmann of Milwaukee, WI, and was born on August 18, 1912. She graduated from Wellesley College in 1934, majoring in Psychology. She was married to Dr.Samuel Kohn, a pediatrician in Milwaukee, on January 10, 1935 and they made their home in Whitefish Bay, WI, until his death in 1976. She married Harry Horwitz of Tucson on August 22, 1980, and they have lived in Tucson ever since. She is survived by her husband, Harry Horwitz; her children, Richard (Jacqueline) Kohn, James (Sandra) Kohn; sister, Joan (Don) Mandel; grandchildren, Abigail and Jeffrey Kohn; stepdaughter, Roggie (Barry) Edberg; and step-grandchildren, Roggie (Bill) Elm and Julie (Jeffrey) Cooper. She will be missed by all of her family and especially by her grandchildren, Abigail and Jeffrey Kohn, who both appreciated all the love and encouragement she has given them throughout the years. They were her special joy. Rita was always warm, generous, and loving. Friends and relatives are welcome at a Memorial Service at Temple Emanu-el, 225 N. John P. Holbrook, age 71, died March 26, 1998. He was born on July 12, 1926 in San Francisco, CA and moved to Tucson in 1928. He is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Wm. Paul Holbrook; his mother, Margaret Bressler Holbrook; and his sister, Elizabeth Holbrook Whidden. He is survived by his wife, Jane Wraith Holbrook; his children, Margaret Holbrook, Elizabeth (Tom Holycross) Holbrook, Paul (Marsha) Holbrook, Bruce (Anna) Holbrook, Charity Holbrook, Catherine (David) Boscacci, James Weed; and grandchildren, Alexander ('Hondo') Holbrook, Anthony ('A.Z.') Holbrook, William ('Will') Holbrook, Johanna Holbrook, Henry Holbrook, Bill Boscacci and Christopher Boscacci. He is also survived by his brother, Bruce Holbrook and seven nieces and nephews. He attended Sam Hughes Elementary School, Mansfield Junior High School, Tucson High School and Virginia Polytechnic Military Academy. In 1949, he received his B.A. from the University of Arizona. In 1953 he received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Boston University. Having joined the Air Force, he took his internship and residency programs at Letterman's General Hospital in San Francisco. From 1957 to 1959, he was stationed at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne Wyoming, where he was Chief of Medicine. From 1959 until 1963, he was stationed at Lakenheath Hospital in England and as Director of Hospital Services and Chief of Medicine, he started and was founding President of the Anglo-American Medical Society. He received the Commendation Medal from the Air Force for his work with the Society. From 1963 until 1965, he was Chief of Medical Services at Fairfield Air Force Base in Spokane, WA. He retired from the Air Force in 1965 and returned to Tucson, where he joined the Holbrook-Hill Medical group. He went into private practice in 1979. After his retirement in 1992, he divided his time between residences in Tucson and Bigfork, MT. Memorial Services will be held at St. Phillips in the Hills at 11:30 on April 4. Friends are invited to join the family at the Tucson Country Club following the services. SHELTON, James E., 75. Jim went home to The Lord on March 28, 1998. Jim was born in Afton, OK, joined the Air Force, met and married Shirley 52 years ago and moved to Tucson. He retired from the Air Force, went to work for The City of Tucson and retired again in 1985. Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Tom (Judy), Kathy (Ron), John (Debbie), and Vicki (Ken); 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at First Evangelical Free Church, 4700 N. STANSIFER, Martha Lois Stocking, died February 2, 1998 in Albuquerque, NM. Born March 23, 1929 in Augusta, KS. Joseph C. Testa - He was taken from us on March 29, 1998. Born in Providence, RI on October 18, 1928. He is survived by Sonya, a long time companion; two children, Michael; and daughter-in-law, Alice; daughter, Barbara; four grandchildren; a sister; and brother living in Rhode Island. Joe was in the U.S. Air Force 1951-1970. He served in Korea and Viet Nam as an Air Refueler. Soon after retiring from the service he joined the American Legion. He was a past commander of American Legion Post 7 and Chef de Gare Passe of Voiture 73 of the 40 et 8.. Joe volunteered at the V.A. Medical Center for 18 years, first volunteering in the pharmacy, then as an Assistant State Service Officer fro the American Legion.
