JENSEN, Agnes 'Angie', died Saturday, April 11, 1998. Born March 23, 1928 at Bode, IA. She was a long time resident of Tucson. Angie is survived by her husband, Frank; her three sons, Mike, Steve (Michelle) of Tucson, and Terry of Kearny; two grandsons, Jason and Cody of Tucson; a brother, Wally of Kansas City; cousin, Oline Hagen of Phoenix; and relatives in Iowa and a multitude of loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lars and Gina Mitsven of Bode, IA. Angie was a member of Spanish Trail Lutheran Church and The Norsemen's Federation, both of which she loved very much. Visitation will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 East Grant Road, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, 1998. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 1998 at Spanish Trail Lutheran Church, 8701 E. Spanish Trail, Pastor Dr. Hal Hoekstra officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Spanish Trail Memorial Garden Fund or Tucson Medical Center Hospice. The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses, and hospice staff at TMC, her pastor, and great friends who helped her through her final days. We love you and will miss you ‘MOMS', we know you are in good hands.

Hortensia 'Tencha' S. Leon, 49, of Tucson, passed away April 10, 1998. Survived by mother, Eulalia Mejia; daughters, Cindy Leon, Vicki Leon, Melissa Leon, Bobbi Ann Leon, and Veronica Leon; sisters, Adella Sanchez, Yolanda Figueroa (Ramon), Martha Huerta, and Linda Soldrio. Also survived by two grandchildren, Sergio and Adrian. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 1998 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m.at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, South Chapel, 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Church. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.
Although our Mom was taken unexpectedly from us, she passed on to us her strength, hard work, and beautiful memories. Her love lives on in the lives she touched with her caring ways and beautiful smile.

MILLER, Verna T., born April 2, 1901, passed away April 5, 1998 in California.Verna was a past longtime resident of Tucson and teacher in the Tucson public schools. She is survived by her son, Burton of Pleasanton, CA; daughter, Marni Miller of Richmond, CA; and several grandchildren.

RUIZ, Mercy V., 65. A Lifetime resident of Arizona. Passed away April 11, 1998, in Tucson. Born April 14, 1932, in Baboquivari, AZ. Mrs. Ruiz was a longtime supporter of the Tucson Police Department and Tucson Firefighters. She is survived by her husband, of 48 years, Frank; son, Frank (Olivia) Ruiz; daughters, Marissa Ruiz, Melissa (Patrick) Sanchez, and Marfisa Ruiz; grandchildren, Frank Ruiz Jr. III, Gabriela Cocio, Graciela and David Sanchez; sisters, Maclovia Ruiz, Martha Rivera and Theresa Castillo; brother, Abraham Vildusea. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave. Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, at St. Johns Catholic Church. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.

SANCHEZ, Erlinda Y., 76, of Tucson, passed away April 12, 1998. Preceded in death by beloved husband, Paul C. Sanchez. Our beloved mother and nanita, has risen to a new life with Christ on Easter morning, April 12, 1998. Surviving are daughters, Norma Quiroz (Gabe), Anna Marie Sanchez of Tucson, Evelyn (Alfred) Almazan of Houston, and Liliana Patricia Sanchez of Boston; sons, Paul Jr. and Frank (Linda) of Tucson; brother, William Ybarra and sister, Julia Arechederra. Also survived by ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 1998, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, North Chapel, 204 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Mass will be offered on Thursday, April 16, 1998, 9:00 a.m., at St. Margaret's Church, 801 N. Grande. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.

STIDHAM, Jim R., 62, died April 9, 1998 in Sonoita, AZ. Husband of Barbara J. Stidham; father of Guy Stidham of Sonoita, AZ, Mark Stidham of San Bernardino, CA, Brian Stidham of Riverside, CA, and Darren Stidham of Colton, CA; brother of Phillip Stidham of Payson, AZ, Mary Wiyninger of Redlands, CA, and Margie Visbal of Silver Lakes, CA; four grandchildren also survive. Donations may be made in Jim's memory to the American Diabetes Association, 40 N. Swan, Suite 116, Tucson, AZ 85711. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 20, 1998 in San Bernardino, CA. SUOZZO, Angela, 89, died April 12, 1998. Mother of Lucille A. (Joseph) Andreachi and Marie A. (Ralph) Scavo, both of Tucson. Grandmother of Nancy, Tina, Joanna, Christina, Charles; great-grandmother of David. Sister of Mary Mangini of NY. Scripture Service 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 1998 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Burial will be in Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

VITELLI, Rachael Marie, 68 years old, died Sunday, April 12, 1998 in Tucson. Born on January 2, 1930 in Plainfield, New Jersey. Survived by her husband, Francis Vitelli Sr. of Tucson; children, Francine Arendall of Tucson, Francis Vitelli Jr., and Joseph Vitelli, both of New Jersey, Julie Chavez of Tucson; brother, Joseph Campilonga of Florida; two sisters, Mildred Nestler of Florida, and Anabell Madsen of New Jersey; three grandchildren. Family suggests memorials may be made to Shrine of St. Rita of the Desert. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, 1998 at Shrine of St. Rita of the Desert, Vail. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL.

WANLESS, Cecilia M., Tucson, joined her husband, Armando on April 12, 1998. She is survived by three children, Emma Richards, Robert (Helen) William Wanless, and Margot (Irving) Vogel; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren also survive. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Carondelet Hospice Services. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

YOUNG, Dolores M., 67, of Tucson, passed away April 11, 1998. Survived by her husband of 42 years, Donald; sons, Stephen (Laura) Young, James (Patricia) Young, Neal (Teresa) Young, all of Arizona; daughter, Marcella (Scott) Townsend of Illinois; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Friends may call Wednesday, April 15, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 16, 1998 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with interment at Holy Hope Cemetery following Mass. Mr. Young and his children suggests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Building Fund in Dolores's name.

YOUNG, Eunice Margaret, born on June 9, 1910 in Grehsam, Oklahoma, died Easter Sunday, April 12, at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded by her parents, John and Ethel Young; two brothers, Ernest and Harold Young. She is survived by four sisters, Irma Wolf, with whom she made her home since 1978, Ruth Young, Alameda, CA, Anna Coleman, Sunnyvale, CA, and Wealtha (Ronald) Schiltt, Fullerton, NE; and her many nieces and nephews. She was loved by many and will be missed dearly. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus Blvd.

BAKER, Urith Helen, 84, of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Shenandoah and Tabor, Iowa areas, died from natural causes March 30, 1998 in Tucson. Urith was born August 24, 1913 in rural College Springs to Terrance and Arabelle Dunbar. She shared her birth with her twin brother, Leslie and also had one older brother, Paul Dunbar. Urith was married to Elmer Broff of Shenandoah, sharing many years of a happy farm life east of Shenandoah. Years after Elmer's passing she married Jack Baker, from Tucson, Arizona. She had many friends in southwest Iowa, and in Tucson. She was very active in her church, political issues, and enjoyed traveling near and abroad. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and husbands. She is survived by four nieces, Emily Johnson, Fayetteville, AK, Sue Dunbar, Shenandoah, IA, Lynn White and husband Charles, Essex, IA, Jana Burkhalter and husband Terry, College Springs; and one nephew, Jim Dunbar and wife Pat, Red Oak, IA; two sisters-in-law, Helen Dunbar, Barbara Broff of Shenandoah and stepchildren in Tucson, AZ. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. April 21st at the St. James United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Roper officiating with her ashes to be at rest in the memorial garden there. Memorials can be directed to Rev. Gary Roper, St. James United Methodist Church located at 3255 N. Campbell Ave., in Tucson, AZ 85719.

BENNETT, Mark O'Brien, age 82, died on Monday, April 13, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Wanda E. Bennett of Tucson; two sons, Kim Bennett (Marilyn) of South Carolina and Brad Bennett of Tucson; three grandchildren, Natalie of Tucson, Jason of South Carolina and Brian of Alabama. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway), on Wednesday, April 15, 1998 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Loren Emerson of Mountain View Christian Church officiating. Burial will take place later in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

BOJORQUEZ, Ramiro (Bo) M., 71 years old, died Monday, April 13, 1998 in Tucson. Born on March 18, 1927 in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. Survived by his wife, Emma Bojorquez of Tucson; children, Lourdes (Sonny) Peters of Nogales, AZ, Lorenia (Bob) Lee, Lydiana Bojorquez, Patricia (Kevin) Mead all of Tucson, Veronica (Vince) Cotroneo of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren; one brother, Roberto Bojorques of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. Memorial Mass will be said at noon Thursday, April 16, 1998 at St. Ambrose Church, 300 S. Tucson Blvd., Tucson, AZ. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, Tucson, 881-0338. Family suggest memorial may be made to St. Joseph's Hospice of Tucson.

CALVIN, Albert L., was born August 3, 1917 in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a youth he entered the Army and worked as a radio communicator during the fall of Bataam. In WW II he was discharged with two Bronze Stars and an Honorable Mention. He was active in the Shriners and was a permanent contributing member to the Shriners Hospital For Crippled Children. He met Arvada Adkins, married her and later moved to Tucson, Arizona and raised a family. He loved the dry climate of the Sonoran desert and would joke that it wasn't warm until the temperature hit over 90 degrees. Al found employment at the post office and because of his love for the outdoors walked his neighborhood route the entire 20 years as a mail carrier. He was perhaps one of the last remaining mail carriers to walk their routes. Us kids loved Christmas because his patriots showered him with lots of goodies and money in appreciation for the good service he provided throughout the year. The church was very important to him and for years he was one of the main Deacons at Christ Presbyterian Church. Al was a very honest, religious and private man. Always wanting to help others, how appropriate that he passed away right before Easter. He died peacefully April 10, 1998 and is survived by his children, Sharron, Madeline and Paul and seven grandchildren. He will surely missed by all. No memorial services will be held.

CATCHINGS, James J. Jr. 'Sonny', 66, died April 13, 1998. Husband of Avis Catchings; father of Vickie Eversob, Keith and Jimmie Catchings; brother of Pauline Redondo, Joanne (Jim) Knight, Leota Damiani, Patricia Callas, Stephanie (Onvy) Ford and Tommy (Carol) Catchings. Funeral Service 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 1998 at BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL with Rev. Eric Northard officiating. Burial in TMP South Lawn. The family suggests donations in Sonny's name to the Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind, 1200 W. Speedway, Tucson, Az 85745. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

CURRY, I.D. 'Ted', Born July 17, 1914, in Lott, TX, passed away peacefully on April 13, 1998. Survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Lynn, Sue and Bob; stepchildren, Barry and Bethany; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Melville; sister, Ann and many nieces and nephews. Ted was well loved and will be missed by all. Ted worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 47 years and was a member of the United Transportation Union for 55 years. Memorial Services will be held 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 1998 at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd.

DEEN, Guadalupe Brady, 51, died March 25, 1998. Survived by her sons Anthony Deen, Eddie Deen; mother Betty Verdugo; and family and friends. Rosary and memorial mass 9:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, Tucson Blvd.

Troy's life was cut short by an auto accident just five miles from home.
He is loved and missed by his parents, Clinton and Virginia Fernandez; sisters, Michelle Higgs, Anchorage, AK, Valinda (Emilio) Nides; grandparents, Jim and Joan Pattison, Alta Loma, CA, and Martha Zelaya, Anchorage, AK; two beautiful nieces, Crystal Shay Higgs, and Sienna Marie Nides; aunt, Christina Pattison of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; all his uncles, aunts, cousins; and his many friends.
A Celebration of his life will be held Thursday, April 16, 1998 at 2:30 p.m. at Sandario Baptist Church, 6971 N. Sandario Rd.

Thomas Houston Gwyn, 61, died Monday, April 13, 1998. Survived by his wife, Darcie M. Gwyn; two daughters, Sharon Gwyn of Las Vegas, Nevada and Darlene Byrd of Phoenix, Arizona; two sons, Lee Michael Byrd and Curtis Byrd of Tucson; a grandson, Quentin Lee; his brother, Robert Gwynn of Colorado Springs, Colorado and his sister, Fannie Biles of McMinneville, Tennessee. Tom was a veteran in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Japan during the Vietnam conflict and later stationed at Davis Monthan Air Force base. After leaving the Air Force. Tom started his civilian life as an entrepreneur in the household and military moving industry. Tom and his wife started AB Moving and Storage Company located in Tucson. A Rosary will be held at South Lawn Mortuary, on Thursday evening (April 16) at 7:00 p.m. The viewing will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening (April 16) and a service and funeral on Friday morning (April 17) at 11:00 a.m. at South Lawn Mortuary Chapel. Contributions may be given in Tom's name to the Tucson affiliated American Diabetes Association. Many thanks to everyone who visited Tom last Thursday and Friday and over the weekend after his sudden illness last Thursday.
