GOOD, Edward A. 'Eddie' 83, died May 18, 1998. Born in New Castle, PA. January 29, 1915. He served in the US Army and retired from US Steel after 40 years of service. A 50 year member of Masonic Lodge #357 of Hobart, Indiana. He has lived in Tucson since 1975. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Mudry Good; one sister, Mary Gums of Florida; nieces, nephews and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Mary Mudry of Tucson; cousins, Dan and Delores Delich of Tucson and dear friend, Pat Ford. Gladys Linn Harbour, 83, beloved mother and grandmother and Tucson resident for 57 years passed away May 17, 1998. She was born in Brooksville, KY on February 11, 1915, daughter of John and Audrey Staton. After having attended college in Kentucky, she became a school teacher in Brooksville for a short time before meeting and marrying Tucson businessman, Rodney L. Harbour on July 1, 1940. The two had been married 55 years when Mr. Harbour died in January 1996. Gladys is survived by sons, Linn of San Angelo, TX, John (Sharon) of Camarillo, CA, Robert (Michele) of Tucson; her stepson, Rodney (Mary) of Tucson and six grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Ferra and brother, John (Florentina) all of Sacramento, CA. In the 1950's, Gladys went back to the University of Arizona to earn a master's degree in counseling and guidance. For over 20 years, she served as a counselor at Townsend Junior High School in Tucson. She loved the children who were her counselees and had a chance to play a role in the lives of many students who were in a key transition period of their lives to teenage. She worked diligently to smooth that transition and to help the students clarify their vision of their life's role. Gladys was active for many years in various community organizations. She was an officer of the Tucson Women's Club in the 1940s. She served as secretary-treasurer of Harbour Tire and Auto Supply, Inc., working alongside her husband for the company. She was active in the First Christian Church with her husband and was a member of the education honorary, Delta Kappa Gamma and Ocotillo Club. She loved the game of bridge and was a regular in several bridge clubs over the years. Visitation will take be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 22 at Northminster Presbyterian Church, Ft. Lowell and Tucson Blvd. with Rev. Dr. Andrew J. Ross officiating. Interment will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. HARSCH, Nina J. (Bowman), born September 10, 1916, Stanton, NE., died May 16, 1998 in Tucson, AZ. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gerald W. Harsch; daughters, Karen (John) McCaffrey and Joan Jovan; three grandchildren, Tammi (Bruce) Morton, Joel Romo and Lauren Romo; brothers, Ralph (Gladys) Bowman and Dale (Cecile) Bowman and sister, Candace Horst. Nina and Gerald moved their family from their Nebraska farm to Tucson in January, 1959 where they have resided in their eastside home. Nina was an active member of the Tucson Women's Club for 29 years, member of PEO, ladies Auxiliaries of Elks and Moose Lodges and was an avid bridge player. She and Gerald traveled for many years. During her illness she resided at Manor Care Nursing Center, where she was well cared for and loved. Funeral Mass will be Friday, May 22, 1998 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Road. A Reception will follow in the church hall. HENSLEY, A. Helen, age 74, died Monday, May 18, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Edward; one son, Mike Hensley and daughter-in-law, Ellen Cohen both of Yuma; three grandchildren, Aviv, Mimi, Aaron Fernandez all of Yuma; two nieces, Jacqueline and Myra and one nephew, Dyas. Mrs. Hensley had practiced as a Registered Nurse for 50 years. She received her B.S. in nursing at the Univ. of Colorado and her M.S. in Rehabilitation at Western Colorado Univ. She received training through the Nurse Training Program at City Hospital, St. Louis, MO. From 1946 to 1964 she co-owned Hensley's Drug Store, Perry Private Duty Nursing and Nursing Home Consultants. From 1964 to 1976 she was a nurse at the State Home and Training School in Grand Junction, Colo. From 1976 to 1996 she was a nurse with the AZ Training Program in Tucson. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 1998 at Adair, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway). The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 1998 at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco. Russell Thompson, age 82, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 17, 1998 following a short illness. He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice. He is survived by three children: Joan Darnell (George Patrick), Molly Rising (Charles) and Russell E. Thompson (Deborah), five grandchildren: Patrick Darnell (Beth), Kindle and Ethan Rising, Jennifer and Mark Thompson, one great-granddaughter: Audrey Darnell, brother: Edward Thompson. Russell was a 50 year resident of Tucson. He and his wife Bernice owned and operated Thompson's Trailer Town during the late 40's and early 50's. During the years his family was growing up, he served as a 4-H leader.Russell carried mail and worked in the accounting department of the U.S. Post Office from which he retired in 1982. He was a longtime member of First Christian Church where his friendly smile and warm handshake greeted worshipers each Sunday morning. Russell was a member of the Elk's Club and a volunteer for Mobile Meals. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 7:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, 740 E. BATE, JoAnn Sylvester, age 77. She relished the challenge of finding happiness in life and was an accomplished seamstress, creating beautiful and stylish clothing and Afghans, favoring pastels and earth colors. JoAnn had a passion for art, wrote some powerful poetry and loved her family unconditionally. She believed in the goodness of people and always supported racial justice. She passed away peacefully, Monday night, May 18, 1998, from complications caused by surgery for colon cancer. Preceded in death by two children, Robert and Dana Jene and a great-grandchild, Charisse Azevedo. A special thanks to the staff at LDS Hospital 8E.
