EMMONS, Myrtle Quin 'MeMe' passed away on June 22, 1998 at TMC. Myrtle was born in NJ on Christmas Eve in 1913. She and her husband came to Tucson from Iowa in 1978. She is preceded in death by Elliot, her husband of 61 years; two sisters and one brother. Myrtle is survived by her daughter, Merle Emmons Johnson of NM; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew. She will be greatly missed by her family and caretakers. FITZPATRICK, Porntip (Al), was born March 10, 1943 in Nakorn Nayoke, Thailand. She died June 22, 1998 in Tucson, AZ after a long, hard fight against colon cancer. She was a friend to everyone who knew her, always willing to lend a helping hand, until she was not physically capable. She is survived by many family members who will miss her very much, including her husband, Brian; two sisters, Chawee and Wilai; three brothers, Manit, Somsack and Sombat; two nieces, Nonglack and Nongnuch; 10 children, Warunee, Rawewan, Sunanta, Turpone, Ritthiron, Chollada, Waraphong, Nongnut, Carole and Jean-Paul; and 13 grandchildren. The main reason for her fight to survive was her strong desire to continue to take care of her husband, their handicapped son, Ritthiron and two of their grandchildren, Gatenalynn and Janejila. Visitation will be at the Dhammaratanaram Temple at 2819 N. Santa Ana Lane, Tucson, AZ 85749, from 8:00 a.m. to midnight on June 24, 1998 thru June 26, 1998. Patricia (Tang) Crowley, 54, died June 19, 1998. She leaves behind her husband Paul; daughter, Casey; and son, Brian; her parents, David and Esther Tang; sister, Cherry Simoes and husband, Manny; brother, David Tang and wife, Donna; and sister, Liz Tang; nephews, Shane, Wing, Darren and Andre and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Patti, granddaughter of Tucson pioneer Don Wah, was born in Tucson November 23, 1943. She graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul School and Salpointe Catholic High School. She attended the University of Arizona and graduated from the New York's Tobe-Coburn School of Fashion Design. After a successful career in New York, Patti returned to Tucson and focused her multiple skills and talents toward teaching children at Pio Decimo Center and later at Kino School, where she most recently worked her magic as a teacher, introducing children and parents to the joys of art, calligraphy and gourmet cooking. She always took time to expand a child's imagination and turn a sad face into a beaming one. Patti, in spite of severe arthritis, devoted her life to her family and much of her free time volunteering for programs in the community that she believed in. She served on the boards of UA Presents, UA Cultural Advisory Board, Angel Charity of Tucson, Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation; was a member of the Newman Center Sustaining Board, the Junior League of Tucson, the St. Elizabeth of Hungary Capital Campaign, Tucson Tomorrow Arts Committee, and the P.E.A.C.E. Club. For her outstanding humanitarian service she received the 1997 Salpointe Alumni Service Award. Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be held at Sts. Peter & Paul Church Thursday, June 25, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Leticia Arriaga Elias, 80. Leticia was born on March 29, 1918 in Washington Camp, Arizona. She joined her beloved husband, Robert Aguirre Elias on June 21, 1998. Gladys Mae Sloan - On June 20, 1998 at 6:10 a.m., a beautiful and sunny morning, my best friend and mother, Gladys Mae Sloan peacefully passed into everlasting life at home in the arms of her daughter and surrounded by family and friends. Born October 30, 1921 in Limestone County, Texas, Mrs. Sloan spent the majority of her life in Southern California until moving to Tucson in 1992, with her daughter. Mrs. Sloan is survived by a daughter, Lee Sloan of Tucson; a son, Larry Jewett of Little Rock, AR; a sister, Elizabeth and husband Edwin Weldon of La Center, KY; a brother, Robert and wife Catherine Heermans of Royse City, TX and a brother, Harold and wife, Helga McGinnis of Whittier, CA. There are also numerous aunts, cousins and close family friends who will share in the loss of this wonderful lady. Words can never truly express the heartfelt appreciation and love felt by her daughter for the love and endless support of her physician, and the staff of Carondelet Home Hospice Program-St. Mary's.
