John Elmer Milam, 89, passed away June 10, 2003 in Wellton, Arizona. He was born April 19, 1914 in Glennwood, Arkansas. He worked as a service station owner/operator in Winterhaven and Yuma, as well as being a retired school custodian for Yuma School District #1. Johngraduated from Leflore High School in Leflore, Oklahoma.He was a member of the Yuma Writers Club, was one of the founding members of Wellton Writers Club, and a Scoutmaster. He was elected to The International Poetry Hall of Fame in October 1, 1996.
John is survived by his son and wife, John Keith and Marie Milam of Wellton, Arizona; sisters, Edna Robbins of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Mildred Stevens of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Irma Briley of Spiro, Oklahoma; grandson and family, Robbie and Donna Milam (Nichole, John Robyn, Douglas, Tyrel), granddaughter and family, Kari and Dave Wagner (Emma and Daniel), granddaughter and family,Paula and Leo Cota (Samuel and Benjamin).
John was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Johnnie G. Milam, his brother, Leonard Milam, and his parents, William and Rosa Milam.
Memorial service will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Scott Ferris officiating. Mildred is survived by Sons, Daniel Nichols Sr., and Alvin Nichols both of Winterhaven, California, Brother, David Brown of Somerton, Sister, Barbara Brown and Stepmother, Clara Brown. Mildred is also survived by eight wonderful grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitationwill be held on Sunday, June 15, 2003 at 10:00am at Kammann Mortuary, visitation will continue at The Quechan Big House at Noon on Sunday, June 15, 2003.Cremation will be Monday, June 16, 2003 at 5:00am.
Pallbearers will be Louie Robles, Warren Flame, Michael Magana, Timothy Nichols, Raymond Nichols, and Adrian Alberts.
Honorary Bearers will be Daniel Nichols Sr., Alvin Nichols, Daniel Nichols Jr, Michael Magana Jr., and James Magana.
Mildred B. Collins
Mildred Brown Collins, 84, of Winterhaven died June 10, 2003, at Yuma Nursing Center.
She was born Aug. 25, 1918, at Fort Yuma and was a homemaker.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Sunday at Kammann Mortuary Chapel. Quechan tribal ceremonial rites will begin at noon Sunday at the Quechan Big House. Cremation will be at 5 a.m. Monday at the Quechan reservation cemetery.

Shirley M. Rahn, 67, died June 12, 2003, in Yuma.
Born Aug. 25, 1935, in Harrison Township, Wis., she was retired.

Jose L. Guzman
Jose Leyva Guzman, 86, of Yuma, died June 12, 2003, at Yuma Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born Aug. 31, 1916, in San Jose, Michoacan, he was a retired farm laborer.
Juan Lamar, of Somerton, died June 9, 2003, at Yuma Regional Medical Center at age 99.
Born March 29, 1904, in the Philippines, he had been an agricultural laborer.
A wake will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, with a rosary at 7 p.m, at Kammann Mortuary. Scripture services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kammann, followed by burial at Desert Lawn.
Margaret Sorge
Former Yuma resident Margaret Sorge, 91, died June 7, 2003, in Crescent City, Calif.
Born July 9, 1911, in New York City, she was the founder of the Secular Franciscan Order in Yuma.
A memorial service will be held 9 a.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Burial will be in Oceanside, Calif.
Matthew M. McGillic
Matthew Mark McGillic, of Yuma, died May 3, 2003, in Yuma at age 77.
Born July 27, 1925, in Winchester, Idaho, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for a construction company.

Dolly Grace Struble Wright, of Yuma, died June 11, 2003, at Palm View Rehabilitation and Care Center at age 98.
Born June 26, 1904, in Paris, Ark., she was a retired caregiver.
Services are planned in Excelsor, Ark., with burial to follow at Valley View Cemetery in Excelsor.

Melody, 32, passed away on April 9, 2003. She was born in Moyine, Illinois on November 23, 1970.
She is survived by her mother, Lynda Cecil, sister Ginger Goss, Brother Jimmie Cecil, Son Doug Sanchez, and daughters, Dorothy Sanchez, and Melissa and Jacque Brackeen.
