MCKISSICK, Charles W., 83, of Tucson, died July 12, 1998. Survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughters, Janice Holberg (Walter), Dorothy McKissick (Donald Brannan) and Kathy Belfils (Kurt); three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He retired from Southern Pacific after 45 years of service. He was Past Master of Adobe Lodge #41 F & AM and a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Sabbar Shrine Temple and First Christian Church. Memorial Services Thursday, 11:00 a.m. First Christian Church, 740 E. Speedway, with Dr. George Tolman officiating. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY.

MONTOYA, Richard D. 'Indio' 37, of Tucson, passed away July 10, 1998. Preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Carmen Montoya. Survived by sisters, Rosalie Montoya, Patricia (Jose) Coronado, Michelle (Johnny) Montoya; brothers, Ernest Montoya. Also survived by eight nieces, a special niece, Joey; three nephews, two grandnephews and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation will beheld on Wednesday, July 15, 1998 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. MOORE, James D. 'Jim' 54, of Tucson, AZ, passed away July 10, 1998. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Judy; sons, Dan (Marydale) and Roger; and mother, Meta Moore, all of Tucson; and sister, Sharon (Russ) Reese of Chandler, AZ. Jim was a retired carpenter who had been involved in the community with Little League Baseball and soccer. He was one-of-a-kind. A Memorial Service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 1220 W. Magee Rd., Tucson, AZ 85704 at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 1998. NUNEZ, Benita, 100, of Tucson, passed away July 12, 1998. Survived by daughters, Carmen Espriu (Jose), Benita Martinez(Richard), Dora Benavidez (Ramon) and Natilia Nunez; sons, Frank (Gloria) and Bernardino Nunez; brothers, Isidro and Fernando Canez (Anita). Also survived by 27 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. OLDHAM, Elsie, 85, a longtime resident of Tucson, passed away July 13, 1998. She had been an outpatient in the Carondelet Hospice for the past year. Mrs. Oldham is survived by her daughter, Nancy Davis of Tucson; four grandchildren, Caroline Thompson, Timothy Spence and Bethanne Spence, all of Tucson and John Spence of Prague, Czech Republic. She had one great-grandchild, Caroline Elizabeth Thompson, also of Tucson. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991. Mrs. Oldham moved with her husband from Webster City, Iowa to Tucson in 1960. Here they spent many happy years with family and friends. From 1962-1977 Mrs. Oldham enjoyed a 15 year association with the University of Arizona, first as a secretary in the Dean of Womens Office and later as office manager of the Dean of Students Office. She always recalled those years on campus with great fondness. The family requests remembrances be made in her name to Carondelet Foundations Office, P.O. Box 13170 Tucson, AZ 85732-3170. Services to be held at a later date. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

ROTH, Frederick J., 95, died July 12, 1998. Survived by wife, Bessie (Cox) Roth of Tucson; son, Donald of St. Paul, MN; daughters, Marlene Roth of Woodbury, MN and Betty Paplinski of Bend, OR; sister, Josephine Petak of So. St. Paul, MN; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by oldest son, Marvin of Red Wing, MN. Fred was a farmer in Lake City, MN before retiring at age 62 and moving to Tucson where he married Bessie in 1981. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Tucson Roadrunners. Friends may call Wednesday, July 15, 1998, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile. Services and burial will be in Lake City, Minnesota.

SPILLER, Stanley R., 32, was born in Shelton, WA, on December 26, 1965, passed away July 6, 1998. Has gone to rest with his grandmother, Francisca G. Ruiz. Survived by his mother, Dora Gutierrez; beloved brother of Rachel (Joe) Ormsby Tarazon of NM, Adolph Delgado, Mike (Kelly) Gutierrez, Becky (Frank) Gourdin, Frances (Orlando) Gonzales, Ramona Spiller; grandson of Rebecca Spiller of Olympia, WA; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and one great-nephew, Brandon Tarazon. Viewing will be held at ARIZONA MORTUARY, 7 E. University Blvd, , from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 1998. Mass will be held at SS Peter & Paul, 1946 E. Lee, at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 1998 followed by graveside burial.

BAKER, Marjorie Lewis, was born March 5, 1911 in Buffalo, New York and died July 13, 1998 in Tucson, AZ. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Richard in 1975. She is survived by daughters, Yonny (Jim) Beers of Tucson and Lonny (Todd Hansen) Baker of San Francisco. Also survived by granddaughters, Heidi Beers of St. Louis, MO, Heather (Sean) Tyler of Fort Collins, CO, Holly (Greg) Varela of Phoenix; and three great-granddaughters, Madeline, Alison and Rachel Tyler. A resident of Tucson since 1962, Marjorie is a past president of Planned Parenthood. A private service will follow cremation. DAVIS, Mark Jeffrey, 34, of Tucson, passed away Monday, July 13, 1998. Mark was preceded in death by his father, James R. Davis Jr. Mark is survived by his son, Jeffrey James; daughter, Airagail Davis; mother, Ethel Davis; sister, Cheryl (Rupert) Jones; sister, Pamela Davis, all of Tucson; brother, James R. Davis III of Mesa and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services, 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 17, 1998 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, with burial to follow in East Lawn Palms Cemetery. GARCIA, Ray L., passed away July 9, 1998. Survived by children: sons, Ray and Robert Garcia of Macon, Georgia, Ralph, Ronnie, Raleigh and Frank Garcia of Tucson; daughters, Diane Ysmael, Ruth Villegas, Becky Valdillez; 21 grandchildren; seven stepchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; brothers, Oscar and Conrado Garcia; sisters, Tillie Pena, Alice Ortiz, Jenny Gonzales, Stella Scott; many nephews and nieces. Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 17th at Holy Family Church. Burial to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, send contributions to American Cancer Society.

GROAT, Arana, age 84, entered into rest July 10, 1998 after a long illness in Poulsbo, Washington. Arana was a longtime resident and a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. Arana was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert and is survived by her daughter, Diane Groat of Rochester, NY; her son, Myron Groat of Bainbridge Island, WA and two grandchildren, Michael Groat and Tahnee Groat, both of Tucson. A memorial service will be held for Arana's friends and family in Tucson on a still to be determined date. PERRI, Florence, 69, of Culver City, CA, former resident of Tucson, AZ, passed away June 25, 1998. She is survived by her beloved husband Frank; son, Frank Jr; daughter, Louise Fulchiero; grandson, Christopher Fulchiero; sisters, Phyllis Fadala (Nick), Louise Rotello (Joseph) and Vera Costanzo (Peter). Betty V. 'Bessie' Sandoval, 80, of Tucson, passed away July 12, 1998. Survived by daughters, Betty Trujillo (Bobby), Josie Guerena (Eddie) and Angie Saucedo; sons, Henry Jr. (Rosie), David (Betty) of California, Edward (Carmen) and Ernie Rodriguez; sisters, Clara Yanez and Erlinda Dominguez, both from Phoenix; brothers, David Valenzuela and Ernesto Valenzuela from Arivaca. Britton Douglas 'Britt' Stokes, 10, of Tucson, went to be with the Lord on July 11, 1998. Survivors include his parents, Tammy and Bradley Martinez; sister, Tiana Monetathchi; brother, Lorenzo E. Martinez, all of Colorado Springs, CO; grandparents, Kiem Marshall and Duc Pahm of Tucson, Vernon and Blanche Stokes of Flagstaff, AZ, Eddie and Mary Martinez of Rapid City, SD and many other relatives and friends. Edward Encinas, 68, of Tucson, passed away July 14, 1998. Survived by wife, Ysaura 'Chawa' Encinas; daughters, Cristina Yribe, Beatrice Torres (George), Norma Valenzuela (Lalo) and Yvonne Guillen (Mike); sons, Eddie Jr. (Frances), Alex and Guillermo Encinas (Martha); sisters, Rosa Taylor, Connie Ponce and Frances Cortez (Jorge); brother, Juan Encinas (Mary); 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, mother-in-law, sisters and brother-in-laws. Visitation will be held Friday, July 17, 1998 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at our Lady Queen of all Saints, 2915 E. 36th St. with Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be offered on Saturday, July 18, 1998, 9:30 a.m. also at Our Lady Queen of all Saints. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Edward's greatest fortune was his family. His smiles and laughter always brought happiness. His words of wisdom were sought by all. His belief in the man upstairs (God) made him the man he was. His caring and loving ways always made you love him even more. My husband, our father, our grandfather and great-grandfather will be missed very much. Family suggest donations be made to the St. Mary's Burn Center.
