SAGERT, Gerald D., a man who will be missed more than words can express, died suddenly Saturday morning, October 3, 1998. Gerry was a man of great passion, compassion, and strength. Gerry was born in Salinas, California in 1928 and grew up in Lebanon, Oregon. He served a term with the United States Navy before attending Oregon State University. Gerry graduated with a Bachelor's degree and was a member of Phi Delta Kappa. Moving to Tucson in 1954, Gerry then attended the University of Arizona where he earned his Master's degree. Gerry then began teaching for the Tucson Unified School District where he went on to become a principal. Gerry devoted 30 years of his life to our communities children being an exemplary example of how a concerned and caring individual should lead his life.Gerry was to have celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary to his soulmate and lifelong friend and partner, Marjorie Sagert. Gerry is also survived by his mother, Carrie Sagert and his devoted daughter, Crystal Renner of Tucson and his son, Carl Sagert of Alaska. Also, the delight of Gerry's world, his beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth and Clay Renner of Tucson. And, mourning this great loss as well, Gerry's two sisters and their husbands, Carol and Terry Frey of Tucson and Betty and Bob Paisola of California. There will be a service commemorating Gerry's life on October 8th, 10:00 a.m. at HUDGEL'S SWAN FUNERAL HOME, 1335 S. Swan Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Robert Sarber Heart Center at the University Medical Center. Those of us who were fortunate enough to have spent any time with Gerry must consider ourselves genuinely blessed for the experience.
LARMOUR, Carl Greenough, 87, August 11, 1911 to September 23, 1998. Survived by daughters, Marjorie Anne Swindle (Don), Edythe Annette Sams (Bill); son, Paul Larmour (Margaret Swisher); eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille Kleinman; brother-in-law, Herbert D. Spring and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Marjorie E. Larmour; and grandson, Jim Swindle. Carl was a designer and builder of many fine homes and commercial buildings in Tucson and northern Arizona. He also owned and operated Sta-Coat Paint, Speedway Variety, Broadway Hardware and Variety in Tucson and the Thunderbird Inn and Ponderosa Inn in Williams, AZ. He will be best remembered for his generosity and his love for all creatures. A Celebration of the Lives of Carl and Marjorie will be held on Saturday, October 10th at 2:00 p.m. at Catalina United Methodist Church, 2700 E. Speedway. MARTINEZ, Alonzo B., 73, of Marana, passed away October 06, 1998. MCCOY, Margarita C., 84, a former Tucson resident, died Thursday, September 24, 1998 in Encinitas, California. Born February 7, 1914 in Cananea, Sonora arriving in Tucson with her parents, Amado and Feliciana Cota-Robles in 1915. Mrs. McCoy was preceded in death by her son, Jose Luis Roberson and husband, David McCoy. Survivors include sisters, Marie Nantz of Santa Ana, CA and Cecilia Suarez of San Dimas, CA; brothers, Eugene Cota-Robles of Edmonds, WA and Tony Cota-Robles of San Diego, CA and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Resurrection Chapel of Holy Hope Cemetery on Saturday, October 10, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow the service. CLARK, Richard William, died September 22, 1998. Mr. Clark was born April 21, 1939 in Brookneal, Virginia and was a 20 year resident of Tucson. He was a longtime employee of PDQ Records and Tapes. Mr. Clark served in the United States Air Force for 12 years. He is survived by his brother, Attorney Robert G. Clark of Tucson; his sister, Jane Welborn of Richmond, Virginia; his nieces, Ashley and Allison Clark of Tucson, Katie Welborn of Richmond, Virginia; and a nephew, Ryan Welborn of Richmond, Virginia. In addition to his interest in music, Mr. Clark was an avid photographer and a poet. He will be missed by all who knew him. Donations may be made in his memory to the Mission San Xavier Restoration Fund, or to the Center For Creative Photography at the University of Arizona.

CULVER, Muriel Josephine 84 years old, died Wednesday, October 7, 1998 in Tucson. Survived by two daughters, Dorothy Culver and Nancy Culver both of Tucson; two sons, Frank A. Culver of Las Vegas, Nevada and John A. Culver of Tucson; six grandsons, one granddaughter, 10 plus great-grandchildren and Senator and Gabrial. Mrs. Culver was a member of the 3rd Order of Carmelites, Past President Alter and Rosary Society at Sacred Heart Church, Window Designer for Cele Peterson's Christmas Windows. She was active in the Salpointe Mothers Club and did the live Christmas nativity at Salpointe High School and the City Court House. GRIFFITHS, Lillian, 90, a former resident of Tucson, Arizona, died at Willow Manor in Deming, New Mexico on October 9. Lillian was born on April 24, 1908, the daughter of Wilson and Jennie Olds in South Beloit, Illinois. She grew up and attended school in South Beloit, Illinois and Beloit, Wisconsin. She met and married Clarence J. Griffiths in 1927. Mrs. Griffiths and her husband moved to Tucson in 1949. In 1959, they moved to Glenwood, New Mexico where they owned and operated the L Bar H Ranch until 1967, when they returned to Tucson. She is survived by daughters, Corinne Tripp of Orlando, Florida, Mildred Dixon of Mesa, Arizona, Linda Oberg of Logan, New Mexico; son, John Griffiths of Deming, New Mexico and sister, Mildred Banker of Appleton, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband and brother, Clifford Olds. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 13 followed by services at 1:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Road. Interment will follow in East Lawn Cemetery.

WILLIAMS, Leonard A., 87, passed to eternal life on September 21, 1998. He was born in Sparta, WI and gradated from High School there. CARTER, Gerald (Jerry) Dennis, born January 31, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA, passed on to a more peaceful place at the VA Medical Center on October 7, 1998 after a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer. He leaves behind his best friend and wife, Beverly; parents, Clarence and Margaret Carter; sister, Margaret (Duchess) Jefferson; brother, Eugene Carter; daughter, Maria Drummond; stepson, Louis Sandoval; stepdaughters, Marcia Barge and Iona-Jamie Barge; and grandchildren, Marvin, Matishi, and Dwayne. He was preceded in death by brother, Clarence (Pudding) Carter, Jr. Jerry served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He moved to Tucson from Philadelphia in 1989. At the time of his illness he was employed at the VA Hospital in Tucson. He had been a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #2 at 3455 S. Wilmot in Tucson for many years. DOLAN, Hilda Grace, 99, went to sing with the choir in Heaven on October 10, 1998. She was born April 4, 1899 in Columbus, OH. She was a resident of Tucson for 77 years, arriving in 1921. She is survived by six children, Harry and wife, Alice Brooker; Grace and husband, Karl Hammett; Marion Gintz; Fran and husband, Ben Gosewisch; Bob and wife, Janie Dolan; Marianne Henderson; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Hilda loved music and sang in Ss. Peter and Paul Choir and was a charter member of the Mother Cabrini Parish and Choir under Helen Kennedy. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and Sewing Club of Cabrini. She was truly a rock and left this earth a better place for having been here.
