John T. 'Jack' Marks, age 69, died October 8, 1998. Lorna, his loving wife of 44 years and his sister, Betty Gaddy of Blue, AZ., survive him. Jack is also survived by his nephews, Billy Marks of Blue, AZ, Justin Marks of Cave Creek, AZ, Pete Gaddy of Stanfield, AZ, David Gaddy of Newberry Park, CA, Jim Callicotte of Camden, AK, John Callicotte of Tucson, AZ and his niece, Beverly Harris of Mineral Point, WI. Jack was a native Arizonan, raised on the Blue. He attended a one-room schoolhouse. Then he graduated from Clifton High School. He proudly served with the First Marine Division in Korea earning the Bronze Star for meritorious and heroic achievement. He attended the U of A graduating with a degree in mining engineering and metallurgical engineering. He worked at Hughes Aircraft for 26 years retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Clifton Elks Lodge 1174, the Masonic Adobe Lodge #41, and the Tucson Corral of the Westerners. He was an avid reader and a lifelong student of southwestern history. He especially liked western poetry and music. He was a cowboy poet at heart. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, October 14, 3:00 p.m. Grace St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 2331 E. Adams. Florence Dolores Engett, age 86, was born on August 20, 1912, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York. She was predeceased by her parents Dan and Annie McCann and her brother, James McCann. After her parents died when she was 11, she was raised by her beloved Aunt Mamie (Mary Alice Shaw), who died 51 years ago. She never forgot Aunt Mamie's devotion and often called for her during her last days. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, former Chief Judge Richard H. Chambers of the U.S. Court of Appeals, 9th Circuit. They had great affection for each other. Judge Chambers died in Tucson on October 21, 1994.
Florence died on Tuesday, October 13, 1998, after a long and very courageous battle with cancer and succumbed to renal failure at TMC Hospital. She was surrounded by those who loved her and died very peacefully during the recitation of her beloved Rosary.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, John J. Engett and daughter Eileen Chambers of Tucson and daughter Mary Ellen Pedro, son-in-law, John Pedro and grandchildren, Brendon and Lesleyann Pedro, of Renton, Washington.
Florence dedicated herself to her husband and family and supported and inspired them in all their endeavors. She was known for her great strength of character, her faith and devotion to the Blessed Mother. Not the least was her keen Irish sense of humor, her love of music and dancing and her adventuresome spirit. She was a great and dignified lady who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family thanks the TMC nurses and staff and the private duty nursing assistants, especially Angie and Suzy, her doctors and all who took such devoted care of her during this last month.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. with recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 5150 N. Valley View Road. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.

FURLONG, Charlotte, 86, died in Tucson, on October 9, 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas in 1987. Charlotte graduated from the Burgh School of Music. Charlotte and Nicholas were married in late 1940. She was a 43-year resident of Tucson. Charlotte was a piano teacher, worked for Tucson's public libraries and enjoyed camping and playing piano. Her nephews Bradford White and Laurence White of Michigan survive Charlotte. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Music Enrichment Fund of Trinity Presbyterian Church.
