Edwin M. Michels, 88, born in McHenry, Illinois on October 19, 1910, passed away on October 22, 1998. Ed leaves behind many good friends, especially as he volunteered at St. Mary's Hospital admitting department, the staff members and the many person's he met daily in his approximately last nine years. At the request of Ed, he did not want any services, but there will be a Memorial Mass in his honor at St. Mary's Hospital Chapel, 1601 W. St. Mary's Road. Ed attended frequently Sunday Mass here for about nine years. The Mass will be on October 30, 1998 at noon.

Martin Pain DuPont, 73, of Tucson, Ariz., passed away October 23, 1998. He is survived by his beloved wife, Evelina Siqueiros DuPont. Also surviving are three sons and their wives, Martin R.and Sandra DuPont, John Pierre and Lori DuPont, Paul B. and Christina DuPont; five granddaughters, Angela, Stefanie, Valerie, Jacqui, Rachel; brother, William Pain DuPont; sister, Virginia D. Dunham all of Tucson and sister-in-law, Yvonne M. Siqueiros of San Francisco, Calif. He is preceded in death by brother, Ralph Pain DuPont and sister, Lucy D. Davila. Martin was a loving husband and father who's main concern was the health and welfare of his family. We will miss his wit and he will be remembered by all who knew him for his skill on the dance floor. He retired from 1st Interstate Bank with over 40 years of service as Senior Bank Audit with the title of Assistant Vice President. In the 40s the DuPont brothers, Ralph, Bill and Martin (Tini) were well known for their accomplishments on the baseball and softball field. Robert Kent Samsel - Joined our Lord on the afternoon of Monday, October 26th, 1998. Kent, as he was most commonly called, resided in Kearny, Arizona where he had a dental practice at the community medical complex. He was born in Powell, Wyoming on December 14th, 1951. His family moved to Tempe where he graduated from McClintock High School. He went on to college and graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. He continued his education at the University of Washington, Dental School where he graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). Kent served in the U.S. Army Medical Corp as a captain and afterwards chose to reside and practice in Tucson. Kent was a very active member of Unity Church of Tucson and made many lasting friends. Kent moved to Kearny in April of 1998 after purchasing the dental practice there. While in Kearny he was the key figure in the re-opening of the Community Medical Complex as well as other community service programs. Kent was well loved and liked by all who knew him. Kent is survived by his parents, Bob and Jean Samsel; sister, Jerri Mathes; brother, Dennis Samsel; nephews, George Mathes III, Robert Mathes, Sean Mathes, Chris Samsel and niece, Kris Garcia; girlfriend and sweetie, Catherine Van Deusen and her two children, Mark C. and Wendy Van Deusen. PATTEN, Esther, 79, died at her home here in Tucson on October 24, 1998. Mrs. Patten was born in Huntington, IN in 1919. She came to Tucson from Indiana with her family in 1949. For years she and her husband, were very active in the Jr. Bowling Program at Golden Pins Lanes. Her husband of 36 years, Pete Patten died in 1985. Dennis Behan, 73, longtime resident of Tucson, passed away October 29, 1998 in a Phoenix hospital, following a sudden illness.Originally from Brooklyn, New York, he moved to Lamar, Colorado after being discharged from the Army-Air Corps at the conclusion of World War Two. He has been a resident of Tucson, Arizona since 1974. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, June Behan of Tucson; four children, Gayle Parker of Phoenix, Laury Browning of Tucson, Brad Behan of Castle Rock, Colorado and Jeff Behan of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nine grandchildren and one sister, Claire Stafford of Sierra Vista. Dennis spent his professional life in the broadcasting business, working his way from the sports desk at a radio station in the early 50s to owner/operator of more than 20 radio stations and one cable company. He loved what he did, and worked hard everyday, though he never considered it work. In fact, he would often tell people of his 40-plus years in the business that 'the day I got into radio was the day I stopped working.' Dennis was a man committed to his wife and family, and many friends. He gave lifelong meaning to the words 'unconditional love' and was a man his family and friends could depend on to do what was right. His legacy is a family bound together by love lived out, love demonstrated, love in the midst of all circumstances. His legacy can be measured, in part, by the many lives he touched and those he helped through his character and unwavering belief that you should share what you have with others; pass on what you have learned and give others the opportunity to benefit from your own experiences. Elsie Anna Runkle, 88, of Tucson, passed away October 12th, 1998. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly and son-in-law, Doyle Burney; two grandchildren, Lawerence W. (Debbie) of Phoenix and Susan Burney of Tucson; two great-granddaughters, Rachel and Kate. Elsie was born May 17th, 1910 in Axtell, Kansas to Christian and Sophia Knedik. On June 20th, 1929 she united in marriage to Wayne Runkle of Barnes, Kansas. This union lasted until his death in 1958. Elsie spent her life giving love and care to others. In 1981 she moved to Tucson to be near her family. She was a charter member of Capilia Del Sol Christian Church and Jacob Jesters Senior Citizen Club. Graveside Services were held in Waterville, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
