Maya Westdyke, 16, a devoted Christian, a loyal family member and lifetime resident of Tucson has gone to be with her Heavenly Father, November 7, 1998. In Maya's brief time here, she touched family, friends and fellow members of the First Southern Baptist Church with her unconditional love and zest for life. She loved her horses, her music and her large extended family. She was a dedicated caregiver to her younger sisters, Vanessa, Hannah and Mary, to her older brother, Will, and to her many special brothers and sisters, including Josh, David, Tim and Kipp. The love and laughter that Vanessa shared with Maya will last a lifetime. Maya also found someone special, C. Osborne, with whom she shared her romantic love. Maya was beloved for her back rubs and her warm hugs, but she lavished her love on all of God's creatures. She enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing and loved to ride her horses. She lived her life in a swirl of constant activity. While she occasionally rankled those who loved her, she also earned their respect. She will be remembered forever by her mother, Margaret Cain; her father, Carl Westdyke; her other father, Ed Cain; her stepmother, Helen Leve; her grandparents, Ed Cain, Sr. and Mary Cain, and Marie Williams. Maya shared a special bond with her cousin, Corrie. In addition, her memory will live forever in the hearts of her eight aunts, 13 uncles and her many other cousins, especially Natalie, Monica and T.K. Visitation will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, 1050 N. Dodge Boulevard, between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. today. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11 at First Southern Baptist Church, 445 E. Speedway, with Graveside Services immediately following in Holy Hope Cemetery. Maya's family respected her final wish by making sure that her organs, bone marrow and other vital remains were donated to people she never met. In lieu of flowers, donations for the Maya Westdyke Memorial Fund, which will be donated to battered women and children, can be made at the Wells Fargo Bank, Swan and Sunrise. And she asked that her family and other loved ones remember her in this way: 'By the way, ' Maya told her brother, 'If I ever die, just throw a party.'
