JOLLEY, Charley Thomas, 86, died December 2, 1998. He was employed by Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas 20 years and then Hughes Aircraft in Tucson for 10 years. He was an avid golfer residing in Tucson Estates with many golfing buddies. Survived by wife, Lillie; three children, R.C. Wells, Lonnie Hand and Jackie Zeagler; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one sister, Virginia Alexander. Geraldine 'Geri' J. Jones, 60, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and loving friend, Geri joined our Lord in heaven on Monday, November 23, 1998 after a long battle with cancer. Geri was a decedent of the pioneer 'Brady' family. She was born to Carmen Brady in the mining town of of Ray, Ariz. on October 27, 1938. After her mother's sudden death, Geri was raised in several communities around Ariz. by her grandparents, Lionel R. and Anita Brady, whom she loved very much. The family settled in Tucson where she attended Hollinger Ele., Wakefield and was in the first graduating class of Pueblo High School in 1957. She later pursued her career in the medical field, working at St. Mary's, Carl Hayden Hospital and VA Medical Center as a ART (Accredited Record Technician). Geri is survived by her husband, Robert A. Jones; sons, Mitchell (Diane) and Robert MacKenzie; adopted daughter, Norma; grandchildren, Jennifer and Derek MacKenzie, many family and friends. Geri left us with many memories which we will cherish and hold onto forever. Rosary will be recited Saturday, December 5 at Hudgel's Swan Funeral Home, 1335 S. Swan at 10:00 a.m.
BARBARA ROSALYN MAYES - Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Barbara R. Mayes, passed away December 3, 1998 after a long battle with cancer. Barbara was born to Maximillian Kahn and Sophia Wagner Kahn, August 23, 1931 in New York City. She married Thomas C. Mayes who died in 1972, Richard Sullivan, who is also deceased, and was engaged to Howard Bromberg at the time of his death last year.
She moved with Thomas Mayes to Tucson in 1950 and became the youngest female real estate broker in the state of Arizona with the firm of Hildreth and Mayes. Known for her warmth and wit, she will be missed by a wide circle of friends and business associates.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Clifford Mayes of Provo, Utah; brother, Dr. Sy Kahn of Port Orchard, WA; and her two beloved grandchildren, Joshua and Elizabeth Mayes of Medford, Oregon. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 8, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bonanza Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 700 N. Bonanza Avenue, Tucson, and burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery following the service.

Spiro E. Papanikolas, 71, of Tucson, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 1998. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, August 24, 1927, to Mike and Georgia Papanikolas. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; daughter, Mary (Boyd) Drachman; sons, Skip, Gus (Janice) and Nick Papanikolas; grandchildren, Stephen, Nick and Sutton Papanikolas, Jason and Derek Kimball, Jeremy, Meisha and Spiro 'Sam' Papanikolas, Phillip, Samuel, William, Genevieve Drachman, Nicole Papanikolas. He is also survived by his brother, Nick E. (Helen) Papanikolas; sisters, Bertha Cononelos, Ida Collard and Willa Dean (William) Cocorinis and his sister-in-laws, Mrs. John and Mrs. Gus Papanikolas. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive Spiro. Spiro was a 32nd degree Mason, a Navy veteran of the Second World War and a senior member of the Tucson Conquistadores. He was also a founding member of little league football in Tucson. Spiro, along with his brothers (John, Nick and Gus) developed El Con Shopping Center, 49ers Golf and Country Club and 49er Country Club Estates. Spiro was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Theresa Marie Picchioni - Passed away on December 2, 1998 in Tucson, AZ. after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Theresa was born in Roundup, MT. on October 12, 1926. She is survived by Albert Picchioni, her loving and devoted husband of 45 years; daughter, Mary Jane (Tim); sons, Joe (Kim) and Geno (Darlene); grandson, Garret; granddaughter, Whitney. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Annie; mother, Mary Scott, father, Walter Scott; sister, Molly Novasio; brothers, Bill and Jack Scott. Theresa graduated from Roundup High School and attended the Collage of Great Falls. During WW II she served as an operator-telegrapher in Montana for the Chicago, Milwaukee Railroad. In later years, she was appointed and then elected to two terms as Clerk of the District Court of Musselshell County in Montana. Theresa will be terribly missed by her family and relatives and everyone who knew and loved her. The family wishes to thank the nurses and nurses' aids at Carondelet Hospice Services and St.Joseph's Hospital for the excellent, compassionate care that was given to our beloved wife and mother. Emma Goldie Dobson, age 90, died Thursday, December 3, 1998. She was born September 10, 1908 in Stone County, MO, to David S. and Martha J.McCullough. Mrs. Dobson attended Bristow High School in Bristow, Oklahoma. She had worked for the Office of the Clerk of the Superior Court in Pima County from 1945 to 1974. Mrs. Dobson is survived by nephew, Chauncey and J.C. Dobson and children of New York; two great nieces, Chrissy Whitaker of Tucson and Sylvia Ford in Texas; one great nephew, Jimmy Scofield who is currently out of the country. MAYES, SR., Isiah, was born to James Mayes and Rebecca Bass Mayes on November 5, 1925 in Swenson, Texas. He departed this life, December 2, 1998. He married Alberta Washington on November 20, 1950 in Loving, New Mexico. To this union was born three sons, Isaiah Mayes, Jr., Robert Earl Mayes, Bobby Ray Mayes; three daughters, Hattie Mayes, Sharon Mayes and Lori Ann Mayes. SMALLHOUSE, Dorothy S. (Morrison), died of cancer at home in San Diego, CA. on November 20, 1998, on her 91st Birthday. Born in Oakland, California she joined Kappa Gamma Sorority at the University in Arizona in 1926 and graduated from San Diego State College in 1929. Her first husband of 39 years, Alvin H. Morrison, who served various executive positions in San Diego, died in 1968. Her second husband of 28 years, Kingston J. Smallhouse of Tucson, a cattleman, rancher, businessman, a founder of Skyline Country Club, and Grand Marshall of the 1981 Tucson Rodeo parade, died in 1996. Dorothy was a Past President of Thursday Club of San Diego and the KKG Alumni Association of San Diego. She served as co-chair of Easter Seal campaigns and was active in Community Chest, the Heart Association and the Assistance League of Tucson. She is survived by her son, J. D. Morrison and wife, Mary of Seattle, WA; brother, Nelson D. Salmon of Piedmont, CA; stepson, Jack Smallhouse and wife, Mary of Tucson; grandchildren, Jay Morrison, David Morrison, Marilyn Morrison Chorak, Andrew Smallhouse, Elizabeth Smallhouse and David Smallhouse; three great-grandchildren and niece, Elizabeth Salmon Sippl. SMITH, Lloyd A., 80, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, a retired pilot with Pan American Airlines with 33 years service, died at his home November 25, 1998. He flew 30 combat missions as a B-17 bomber pilot in Europe during WWII. He is survived by two children, Capt. F. Tallant Smith, U.S. Army of Tucson and Capt. Sharon Smith, U.S. Army of Baker, OR. Shirley Reed Smith
Rose up to Heaven to be with her beloved FRANK and her parents, EARL and PEARL REED, December 3, 1998. Born in Douglas, Arizona, November 14, 1927. married to her first and only love Frank on May 28, 1946. Graduated from the University of Arizona May, 1949. Shirley was a dedicated teacher and then substitute for TUSD for 25 years and Adventure School Preschool for three years before retiring. Shirley is survived by her sister, Virginia (Marion) Brown, brother George (Elsie) Reed, children Sherry (Dennis) Robinson, Teri (Doug) McDowell, Reed (Tamra) Smith, grandchildren Sean and Heather McDowell, Karlie and Kayla Smith, and their mother, Lisa Smith. She is also survived by her guardian angel kitties, Hugs and Kisses, who watched over her after Frank's death and through her recent illnesses.
Shirley was always a cheerful, generous, and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and was Frank's 'right-hand' inpursuing his insurance career. Her beautiful smile will be missed by all.
The family wishes to extend their special thanks for the loving care she received to the staff at Handmaker Nursing Home where she spent her final six months in her Purple Palace lovingly decorated by her family. The family also cherishes her devoted friends who continued to visit her there and to keep in contact with and support her family. William Charles Saints - He was born on February 27, 1940 in Pittsburgh, PA. Bill is survived by his wife, Fran; and sons, Jonathan and Christopher in Tucson, son Keith and his wife Lola of San Diego, CA; daughter Kristen of Los Angeles, CA; and his mother, Eleanor K. Saints of Tucson. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Roark of Lexington, KY; and brother, Stuart Saints of Grand Rapids, MI. Bill received a BA from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1962, a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh in 1966, and an MBA from the University of Arizona in 1986. Bill was employed by the University of Arizona College of Business and Public Administration, and he was also a co-founder of the Ventana Corporation of Tucson. Bill was formerly a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Nebraska from 1966 to 1974. He taught the 6th grade at the Bureau of Indian Affairs Boarding School in Tuba City, AZ in 1977 and 1978. Bill met his wife Fran at the Pima Community College Skill Center where they both worked from 1979 to 1984. Bill was a very active tennis player at El Conquistador Country Club. He was also a veteran of over 20 years of extended backpacking trips in the Grand Canyon with his family and friends. Beloved husband, father, and son, there is no one like you. We will miss you so much. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 8 at 1:30 p.m. at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 2800 West Ina Rd. SNYDER, John Albert, 73, died December 2, 1998. Husband of Jessica A. Snyder; father of Jody King, Theresa Snyder, Cheryl Snyder-Leader and Annette Snyder; five grandchildren; four sisters; and one brother also survive.
