ABBOTT, LeRoy D., 79, of Tucson, died December 9, 1998. Survived by wife, Velma; sons, Earl (Shirley) and Dean (Kathy); daughters, Jean (Kenny) Davis and Bertha (Bob) Johnson; sister, Alta; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.Sunday, December 13 at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Graveside Service will be held 9:00 a.m. Monday, December 14 at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. BRUNING, 'Grammy Bea' E. B., died Wednesday, December 9, 1998 after a short illness. She had 97 wonderful years as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Bea was born April 19, 1901 in Roslindale, MA. She married Raymond John Bruning on January 24, 1923 and they moved to Tucson in 1952. Bea was a member of the Arizona Chapter of Navy Mothers 'Cootiettes' and the Golden Age Club. She has been honored with a family reunion on her birthday fort he past 37 years. Preceded in death by her husband, Raymond John Bruning and son, Paul Bruning. She is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Taparauskas, Elva Borg, Gertrude Swanson, Grace Murray, Irene Eisele; sons, Raymond Bruning Jr., Francis Bruning Sr. and Carl Bruning; sisters, Marjorie Crosby and Myrtle Jenkins; 39 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. For nearly a century, this remarkable woman provided a loving, caring environment for all of her devoted descendants and friends. Visitation at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Avenue is from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 1998. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Monday, December 14 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. DAVIES, Mildred R. On December 7, 1998, Mildred R. Davies, 85, passed peacefully into the Lord's care after a lengthy decline. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas, on May 8, 1998. They had been married 63 years and were the parents of Robert (Elizabeth); grandparents of Gretchen Bailey and R. Blaze Davies; great-grandparents of Adriana and Ted Bailey, and Kyle and Rowan Davies. Mrs. Davies was a creative and talented woman whose needlework was unsurpassed, and whose gentle ways and caring heart will be missed. A Memorial Service for both Mr.and Mrs. Davies is planned for Sunday, December 27th at 2:30 p.m. at El Camino Baptist Church, 7777 E. Speedway, Tucson, with a reception to follow. The family requests that remembrances be donated in the names of Thomas and Mildred Davies, either to the El Camino Baptist Church, Music Organ Fund or to Dignita Hospice Group, Tucson.

DYTKO, Jeffrey Nicholas, 51, died December 10, 1998. Son of Mae Dytko; brother of John (Kathy) Dytko and Gerry (Karlene) Dytko; godson of Nancy and Tony Cacioppo and his friend for life, Ben. GOVAN, Lee Pearl, age 60, former resident of Tucson, died Monday, December 7, 1998 in California. HUMPHRYS, Rose B., age 95, passed away December 8, 1998 in San Diego, CA. She was born in Birdville, TX and was a Tucson resident for 75 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Archie V. Humphrys, a business agent for the Local Painters' Union and is survived by son, A. V. Humphrys of San Diego; daughter, Helen of Roseville, CA; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. VIVIENNE MERYL LaFRAMENTA, 87, of Tucson, died December 10, 1998. She is survived by sons, Scott LaFramenta of Sonoma, CA, Robert LaFramenta of Tucson; grandchildren, Charmien LaFramenta of Santa Monica, CA, Shreve LaFramenta of Sonoma, CA; and sister, Elaine Warner of West Palm Beach, FL. BUSTAMANTE, Fred M., 56, native of Tucson died December 10, 1998. He is survived by his loving family including son, Louis; daughter, Elizabeth; mother, Carole; sister, Carole (Jim) Vieregg; brother, John; former wife Paulette; extended family members, Virginia Foster of Whittier, CA and Irene Diamos of Tucson; and many wonderful friends, who he treasured. The Bustamantes are a pioneer Tucson family and Fred always worked to support this community. He graduated from Amphi High School and the University of Arizona and later taught Spanish at both these institutions. He spent the majority of his teaching career at Pima Community College in the areas of Humanities, Art History, and Philosophy. He dearly loved teaching these subjects and inspired the love and admiration of many students over the years. His hobby of gourmet cooking was his biggest love and everyone who knew him will dearly miss the wonderful meals he shared with us. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, December 16, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY (NORTH CHAPEL), 204 S. Stone Ave. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

COCHRAN, Dwain M., 38 of Tucson. Died December 11, 1998. Dwain was the owner of Dwain's Safe Lock and Key. He is survived by his father & step mother Mr. & Mrs. James J. Cochran; mother, Natalie Cochran; sister, Darlene Cochran Bowie; step-sister, Sally Logan; nieces, Claudine Moyer and husband James Moyer, Candace Bowie and Crystal Bowie. GLASSEY, William J. 'Corner Bill', passed away December 11, 1998. Born May 29, 1934, in Oil City, Pennsylvania. Bill served his country as a Specialist 4 in the US Army while stationed in Germany. He became a 32nd degree mason and a Shriner at the Masonic Temple in Dayton, Ohio. He was also a 25-year member of the BPO Elks. Bill is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lottie; daughters, Christine Colasanti of Dallas, TX and Leise Webb of Tucson, AZ; son, William (Jane) Glassey of Lima, Ohio; five grandchildren, Will, Jessica, Nikki, Casie and Haley. He is also survived by brother, Fred Glassey of North Carolina; and sister Cretie Esh of Lancaster, PA. He will be remembered fondly by many brothers & sisters-in-law; several nieces & nephews; and a multitude of very close, dear friends. Friends may call at the memorial service to be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, AVALON CHAPEL, 8090 N. Northern Ave. (@ Magee), at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 15, 1998.

HUFFMAN, Harriet G., 87 of Tucson, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 1998. Ms. Huffman is survived by her brother, Walton Huffman; sister, Ethel Sincich; nephew, Eugene Sincich; niece, Donna Butterworth; two great nephews; four great nieces; and one great-great niece; and a host of family and friends. KRAFT, Roland Luchesi, Born 11-21-1909 – Died December 11, 1998. Survived by his wife Florence Kraft; his son, Jim (Jan) Izlar; and daughter Mitzi (Carl) Goss both of Tucson. Five grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren also survive. He served in the Navy in the Pacific during WWII and was decorated for serving in four different battles. His service was mainly on the USS WASP. The family is grateful for the loving care he received at Casa Blanca Adult Care Home. Graveside Service 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 16, 1998 at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

RICKER, E. William, 76, of Tucson, passed away at home on December 8, 1998. He is survived by his loving wife, Lois; son, David; daughter-in-law, Brenda; four grandsons, Joshua, Benjamin, Michael and Zachary, of Tacoma, Washington. He is also survived by his sister, Madeline Swain of Sudbury, Massachusetts, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia in 1992. Bill graduated from Bowdoin College in 1946 after serving 2 1/2 years in the United States Army. Bill and his family moved to Tucson in 1956 where he was employed at the R.C.A. Engineering firm for 10 years. He worked for two years at Bell Aerosystems, then joined University Hospital prior to its opening in 1968. He transferred to the University of Arizona as employment manager in 1970 and retired in 1988. he is remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was active in his community and his church. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 750 W. Chapala, on Tuesday, December 15 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Bill's name to the Arizona Cancer Research Center, 1515 N. Campbell, Tucson, 85724.

SCHECHTER, Ileane, 66, died December 13, 1998. Devoted wife of Alvin Schechter; beloved mother to Sheryl Marcus (Richard) and Randy Schechter; adoring grandmother to Adam and Brandon Marcus. Also survived by sister Anne Lewis. Mrs. Schechter was employed for 16 years in retail beginning with Levy's through to Robinson's May. She received numerous awards and accolades by employers, customers and close friends alike. Service Tuesday December 15th at 1:30 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile, with Rabbi Arthur R. Oleisky officiating. Donations may be made on behalf of Anshei Israel, Arizona Cancer Center or the Charity of your choice.

TAYLOR, Ron, 67 of Tucson, AZ formerly of England. Died December 11, 1998 after a heroic battle with his long illness. He is survived by his wife, Norma; sons, Mark and Adam; brother, Nathan; and his wife Doreen, along with other family members in the U.K. and U.S.A. Memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 16 at East Lawn Palms Chapel, 5801 E. Grant Rd.

Sandra A. Winburn, 35, passed peacefully into the Lord's care Sunday December 13, 1998. A native Tucsonan, she is survived by her loving husband Joel, general manager of Costco's Northwest Store, two beautiful daughters, Jessica Rene Winburn and Allyson Lee Winburn, mother Alice P. Moskau, sister Jessica Moskau; and brother Paul R. Moskau; her nieces and nephews, Rachel and Ryan Moskau, Krista and Kim Lillyblad; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna Moskau, Mark Mittelstaedt, Susan and Jill Winburn, and Pat Lillyblad; and her in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Winburn. She was preceded in death by grandmother, Jesse Bryson; and her father, Paul T. Moskau. To the best wife, mother, sister and friend to enter Heaven, we love you, watch over us, we miss you. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Sandy's memory be made to the University of Arizona Cancer Center. Memorial Service will be held at: Tanque Verde Lutheran Church – 8625 E. Tanque Verde Road at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16.

Doris M. Abbott, USAF Ret., Lt. Col., Age 59, of Tucson, sailed to heaven on 13 December 1998. Survived by her best friend and life partner, Rosalie Gold; her mother Frances, age 80; nine sisters, Barbara, Jeanne, Susan, Mary, Therese, Bernadette, Margaret, Elizabeth and Frances; two brothers, Joseph and John; and many nieces and nephews. Doris was born in 1939 in Philadelphia but was reared in Wenonah, New Jersey. She graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School in 1957 and St. Agnes Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia in 1960. In 1961, Doris was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force which she made her career for the next 20 years. While in the Air Force she obtained a Bachelors Degree in Nursing in 1970 at Incarnate Word College, San Antonio, Texas and in 1975 a Masters Degree in Public Health Nursing at John Hopkin's University, School of Public Health and Hygiene. Doris loved being a nurse in the Air Force and enjoyed traveling overseas. In 1967-68, she took care of many Vietnam casualties while stationed at Clark Field Hospital, Philippines. After graduating from John Hopkin's in 1975, she practiced as a nurse mid-wife, delivering over 1000 babies. In 1981, she retired from the Air Force and then taught at the University of Arizona for the next five years in the College of Nursing, Nurse Midwifery Program. Since then she enjoyed working at St. Joseph's Hospital, Tucson in the birthing suites. Doris loved being a nurse and met many wonderful people during her lifetime. She was very courageous in her battle with malignant melanoma cancer. Doris thanks all her friends and family for their support. She will be buried in New Jersey. Visitation/Vigil will be on Tuesday December 15, 1998 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at WOLFREY'S PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway Blvd. and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St.Pius X, 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo on Wednesday, December 16, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross at 4601 E. Broadway Blvd., Tucson 85711.

Margaret S. Abt, 97, died December 12, 1998. Mother of Karl (Donna) Abt of Rolling Meadows, Illinois and Helmut Abt, Tucson, AZ; grandmother of Christine Haack, David Abt, Karen Clarbour and Daniel Abt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl M. Abt in 1940.Margaret and her husband, Karl and two sons, emigrated to the United States in 1927. Margaret spent the last two years at Casa Betania and she will be sorely missed. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 17th at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, with Rev. Edwin Parsil, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 1998 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Survived by wife, Margaret; sons, Roger (Carrie) of Reston, VA, Richard of Tucson; grandchildren, Margaret Bruns of NY, Sharon Bruns of Cleveland, OH, Johannah Back of Las Vegas, NV, Leah Bolen and Lisa Espich, both of Tucson; great-grandsons, Jesse Espich and Jeffrey Back; brother, Robert of San Diego, CA. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 16 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd.with Pastor Larry Swartz of Unity of Tucson officiating. Interment East Lawn Palms Cemetery. CATHEY, Carl D., 88, a 80 year resident of Arizona, died Sunday, December 13, 1998. Survived by daughters, Barbara Appleton, Sharon (John) Sanders, Betty (Mike) VanDahm, Myckie Liles; son, Darrell (Pat) Cathey, all of Tucson; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Carol) Cathey, Las Vegas, NV. Carl worked in construction in the Tucson area until his retirement in 1962. Private services were held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Assoc. HALSTEAD, Charles B., Sr., age 85 of Tucson. Passed away on December 12, 1998. Preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Mary and a second wife, Donna, who died in 1995. He was born in Port Jervis, NY on April 20, 1913. He moved to Hastings-on-Hudson, NY as a young man and later went to work for the Anaconda Wire & Cable Co., where he stayed for over 30 years, interrupted only by service in the Navy during WWII. In addition to his family, the joys in his life were playing golf, watching U of A Basketball, and the 'Say Hey Kid' Willie Mays. He is survived by his daughter, Marilynn Halstead-Stanard of Dobbs Ferry, NJ, son Charles B. Halstead, Jr. of Tucson, and grandson Matthew Walker-Halstead of Tucson. Private burial was in East Lawn Palms Cemetery, Tucson, AZ. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, an aftercare provider.
