SIMMONS, Fairy June, 80, of Osceola, IN, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, December 15, 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert in 1988 and brother, Farrel Rumsey in 1994. Fairy June has lived in Osceola, IN since 1989. Before that, she lived in Tucson for 29 years. She is survived by her brother, Robert (Katie) Rumsey of Vail, AZ; son, Danny L. (Roxie) Simmons of Tucson; daughter, Sharon (James) Justice of Osceola, IN; sister-in-law, Alma Rumsey of FL; six grandchildren, Jordan Daniel and Tara Ann Simmons of Tucson; Lori Lynn (Mike) Moser of Cheney, WA, Laura Lee (Harvey) VanVleet of Battlecreek, MI, Chris and Karen Justice of Osceola, IN; two great-grandchildren, Kayla Ann LeBrun of Tucson, Wesley Daniel VanVleet of Battlecreek, MI; Annissia Nicole Justice of Osceola, IN; and many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was a medical secretary for over 30 years before retiring. She had a great love for sports, especially baseball, her favorite team was the Los Angeles Dodgers. She loved to bowl, go camping, play cards and yard sales! June and her family have always loved sports, Tucson sunshine and Mexican food! June had so many friends and was always wanting to help anybody in need. She will be missed by her family so much more than words can express. DAVIS, Charles C., born November 4, 1925; Charlie lived the majority of his life in Tucson, Arizona. After service in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II, Charlie began a fifteen-year career as a professional rodeo cowboy, clown, and bull rider. In 1961, he married Delores, and in December in December of that year their daughter, Charlynne was born. It was then that Charlie left the rodeo circuit, and after a three-year stint at ASARCO mine, he went into the construction business. He retired as building superintendent and part owner of Cienega corporation in 1986. After his retirement, he and Delores enjoyed traveling and exploring the U.S. in their motor home. Throughout his life, Charlie stayed true to his roots as a working cowboy. He loved his dear friends, the John King family of the Anvil Ranch near Sasabe, and he loved to be on the ranch cowboying and hunting. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was four times an Arizona State champion in the sport of archery. As his daughter and her friends grew up, he was their 4-H leader and passed along to them his love of horses and mules and the outdoors. He is survived by his daughter, Charlynne Finch; granddaughter, Amy Finch and grandson, Garret Finch of Sterling, AK; stepdaughter, Karen Starkey; son-in-law, Dan Starkey; and granddaughters, Jennifer and Rebecca Starkey of Catalina, AZ; brothers, Jim (Fran) Davis of Benson, Robert (Doris) Davis of Phoenix, and Gene (Ann) Davis of Tucson; sisters, Alice (John) Meyers of Benson, LaVerne (David) Lawrence of Tucson. Many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by his wife, Delores; his parents, brothers, Joel and Earl and stepson, Jerry Fisher. LIBYNSKI, John William, February 20, 1920 – December 21, 1998. John enters into the gates of heaven to join his beloved wife Anne and son-in-law, James Tarwater. John moved to Tucson in 1986 after retiring from the Head of Maintenance at St. Francis de Sales Parish and School in Patchogue, New York. John was raised in the Bronx, New York, where he met his wife, Anne, and they celebrated 47 wonderful years of marriage. After serving in WWII in the Asiatic Pacific, they moved to Long Island where together they raised four children, Stephanie Rae, Edward Libynski, John Libynski, and Lorraine Tarwater. WHIPPLE, Dorothy L., a resident of Green Valley for 20 years, died December 17, 1998 in Green Valley.
Dorothy Louise Wieland Whipple was born in Sandusky, Ohio, August 31, 1906. She was a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art with a B.F.A. degree (Bachelor of Fine Arts) and a Masters in Art Education from Wayne State University, Detroit, Mich. She also attended Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
Mrs. Whipple's career in art education included public and private schools and the Toledo Museum of Art where she taught children and adults in association with the University of Toledo and Ursuline College. She was also a freelance writer for 'Design' magazine and Ohio newspapers, and co-publisher of a pictorial monthly. 'Lens, 'in Michigan.
While living in Philadelphia and New York, Mrs. Whipple introduced innovative art programs for children there as well as the Detroit Metropolitan area where she supervised art-intern programs for art students from the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. After her retirement in 1971, she became a volunteer for the Detroit Institute of Art, serving on the 'Activities Committee' and as a juror and chairman of one of the rental galleries.
Following her move to Arizona in 1978, she joined the Docent Council staff of the Tucson Museum of Art as well as became a docent and publicity writer for the Tubac Gallery of Art.
Mrs. Whipple has been cited in 'Who's Who in American Art' and 'Who's Who in American Women.' She was a member of the Ohio Water Color Society; Society of Toledo Women Artists; Southern Arizona Water Color Guild; American Association of University Women; the Tucson Museum of Art; the Santa Cruz Valley Art Association; the Country Club of Green Valley; and St. Frances In-The-Valley Episcopal Church, Green Valley.
Dorothy Whipple is survived by her husband of 69 years, Frank Plummer Whipple and daughter, Lynn of Bainbridge Island, Washington, and Judith of Green Valley.

BANKS, Harvey J. (Pete), of Tucson, Arizona and Marysville, Washington, passed away peacefully December 18, 1998 in Tucson after a courageous battle with cancer. BRADFORD, Barbara (Ross), Dr. of the late Levelle and Lena Bradford lost her battle with cancer on her 58th birthday, December 22, 1998. STANLEY RICK IVIE, 40, of Tucson, was a passionate and adventurous soul who passed away December 21, 1998. Survived by mother, Patricia Marie; father, Stan Ivie; sister, Marcie (Gregory) Dwight. Although Rick followed his traveling heart many places, Rick's family and friends were always important to him, and his roots remained in Tucson. Rick grew up here from his CDO days through U of A to the professional ranks. He was a superior athlete in track at both schools and placed respectably in numerous marathons, including the big ones – New York and Boston. Rick served Arizona through his work in the legislative and criminal justice arenas and was proud of subsequent business and sales achievements in the private sector. Rick loved to put zest in peoples' lives. Rick's writings indicate that he would want everyone to try and do something important with an old friend, in his memory. COURTNEY, Isabelle, 72, died on December 21, 1998 in Tucson, Arizona. She was born in Mills County, Iowa to Floyd and Leona Stephens on May 19, 1926 and married to John Courtney on January 20, 1946. She is survived by husband, John; daughters, Ann Courtney (Chris Gall), Tucson, AZ, Carol Lundberg (Al), Tucson, AZ, Steve Courtney (Laura), Des Moines, IA; six grandchildren; sister, Della Hunter (Kenneth), Lorimor, IA; brother, Larry Stephens (Pat), Lorimor, IA and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents and nephew, Randy Stephens precede her in death. She retired from Northwestern Bell Telephone in Des Moines, IA and moved with husband John to Bella Vista, Ark in 1986. She was a member of the Bella Vista Telephone Pioneers, The First United Methodist Church, Ruth Circle and Shepherd Group #2. She also served for many years as a volunteer and trainer for the American Cancer Society's Reach to Recovery program. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, Ark on December 30, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. with burial services in Lorimor, Iowa at the Lorimor Cemetery on December 31, 1998 at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be sent to either the First United Methodist Church or Village House Adult Care Center, both in Bella Vista, Ark.
