VILLA, Ernest H. Sr., age 72, went home to be with our Lord on Christmas Day. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Frances; sons, Ernie Jr. (Pat), Mike, David (Frances), Henry (Liz) Villa; daughters, Cindy (Tom) Federico, Emily Villa (Gabriel); sisters, Maria J. Casillas, Angelita Figueroa; brother, Edward Villa. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and many great friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 1998 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. with rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cathedral Maintenance Fund. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY INC.

John Frederick Angell, 103, a resident of Tucson, died December 27, 1998. Survived by wife, Helen; stepdaughter, Lorraine Morales; stepson, Luis Rene Morales; local grandchildren, Stephanie (Mario) Teran and Larry (Hanna) Hoffmeister and six out-of state grandchildren; brother, Carroll Angell of St. Paul, MN; nephews, John F. Angell, III and Carroll Angell, Jr.; nieces, Connie Matt and Mary Hilling; numerous great nieces and nephews also survive. John Frederick was born in St.Paul, MN. During his lifetime he was one of the founders of the FDIC where he held a supervisory position in Washington, DC. He served his country during WWI. Upon his return he lived in Chicago, Oklahoma City and Colorado Springs among other cities where he was president of various banks. He was a a philanthropist and member of Skyline Country Club, Mountain Oyster Club and originated the Over the Hill Gang for retired officers of the Armed Forces in Colorado Springs. He attributed his long years to his ability to relax and overcome vexing problems with a sense of humor. Memorial Mass 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, an Aftercare Provider.

BALCERZAK, Henryk S. - Beloved husband, brother and father, Henryk S. Balcerzak, passed away on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1998. He was educated in Film and Photographic Arts, and worked for the Department of Defense Audio Visual Service for 35 years. He is a life SMPTE member. He was an army veteran, and will be interred at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Hope Balcerzak of OroValley; his younger brother, Stanley Balcerzak of Roanoke, VA and Carol Ann Honaker, stepdaughter, of Fontana, CA. He will be greatly missed. Memorial Services will be held on December 30, 1998 at 4:00 p.m. at Arrowhead Aftercare, Highland, California. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

BEAL, C. Gordon, 80, died December 7, 1998 at Mimbres Memorial Hospital in Deming, N.M. He was born December 3, 1918 in Lawrence, Massachusetts and attended school in Lawrence and Methuen, Massachusetts. He joined the Navy in 1934 andlater retired as Commissioned Warrant Officer in 1959. He was a longtime resident of Tucson from 1961 to 1998 where he owned and managed Tucson Beauty Supply until his retirement in 1994. He was a charter member of Sabbar Shrine and had been an active member of the Old Pueblo Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife, Jane; a son, Don and his wife, Rayma; a granddaughter, Kristin Beal all of Lexington, Kentucky; a daughter, Sherry and her husband, Frank Knoop of Deming, N.M.; grandchildren, Anne and her husband, Cass Keeler and four great-grandchildren all of Deming, K. C. Knoop of Coast Guard, Fort Hood, CA, Buffie Meeker of Phoenix, AZ, Travis Knoop of LDS Mission Santiago, Chile; a brother, Robert E. Beal of Salem, N.H.
A Memorial Service will be Tuesday, December 29, 1998 at 2:30 p.m. at Davis-Monthan Air force Base Chapel #1. A reception will follow at the Officers Club.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, Humane Society or to the charity of your choice. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapel.

BRECKON, Herbert C. (M/Sgt USAF Ret.), 71, a resident of Tucson, died December 27, 1998. Preceded in death by wife, Vera; daughter, Christine; and son, Herbert Lee. Survived by sons, Michael (Christine) and Jeffrey (Deidra); grandchildren, Courtney, Caitlin, Jordan and Christopher; sister, Jane; brothers, Eugene and Bill. Herb served in the US Air Force as a Communications Operator and Radar Technician for 21 years, serving in both the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict, before retiring and taking up a career as a service technician with Sears. A second career that spanned more than two decades and earned him the respect and friendship of his colleagues and many of the customers he served. He touched everyone he knew with his sincerity, honesty and his sense of humor. He was a great teaser and could lift a person's spirit even during the darkest of times. He showed a rare devotion and love for his family and was a true inspiration for his friends. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, an Aftercare Provider, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Interment will be in Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, El Paso, TX. Rest easy Herbie, your legacy is written in the character of your sons and will continue to be written in their sons and daughters. Your spirit lives on in them. You will not be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Society or Diabetes Foundation.

CARLSON, Helen Grace, age 72 years of Tucson, died Friday, December 25, 1998. A native of Tucson she was a State Legislator for District 13 in Tucson from 1970 until 1974. She is survived by her husband, Robert G. Carlson of Tucson; son, Robert G. Carlson, Jr. of Phoenix; daughter, Melane Carlson of Los Angeles, CA; three sisters, Jessie Cummins, Serafina Grace, Mary Herreras and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen G. Lawrence. Private memorial services were held. Arrangements by family owned ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.

DE NOLF, Mildred Clara Maria, 85, died Saturday, December 26, 1998 in Tucson. Survived by her husband of 65 years, Adolph DeNolf; two daughters, Wendy (Neil) Heffernan, Shirley Golden; one son, Dennis DeNolf; one brother, Albert Lagaisse; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mass for Mrs. DeNolf will be Wednesday, December 30, 1998 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X, 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo. Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Desert. DULL, Joseph Delbert, 78, died September 28, 1998. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Janet. He is survived by his son, Paul (Colleen) Dull of Tucson, Arizona; daughter, Janet Jo (Steve) Brammer of Yuba City, CA; his sister, Dorothy (John) Collum of Lee Summitt, MO and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Dull was an army veteran of World War II. Joe was a former teacher and principal of the Sunnyside School District in Tucson. At his request, there will be no services. John J. Gerardi, born October 12, 1931 in Bokoshe, OK, passed away December 26, 1998. Preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Vida Gerardi; his uncle, John 'Streets' Bolcic and brother, Arthur. John is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Barbara (Tim) Sumner and sons, Mark and Richard; grandchildren, Michael and Sheena Sumner and Jessica Campbell; and sister, Vida Angela (David) Spellman, as well as many other relatives and friends. He has been a member of IBEW Local 570 for 40 years. He retired from the University of Arizona electrical department in 1992. He painstakingly restored a 1936 Pontiac and was a member of the local Pontiac club. Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, an Aftercare Provider, 5801 E. Grant Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in John's name to Carondelet Hospice, 1802 W. St. Mary's Rd., Tucson, AZ 85745. The family would like to extend a heart felt thanks to John's doctors and the entire Carondelet Hospice staff for John's care and the support to his family.

A.B. 'Clee' KAZANTZIS, born October 15, 1938, in Akron, Ohio, died quickly and unexpectedly on December 26, 1998. He was a resident of Tucson for35 years. He is survived by his loving wife Dolores and children, Kyra and William, as well as his mother Helen and his brothers, George (Vonnie) and Angelo (Sherrie). Clee was hard-working, generous and good and his passing has broken the hearts of his friends and family. He will be missed terribly by many. Clee served in the United States Navy for three years in his youth. After his service, he attended the University of Akron and was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Clee was an electrical engineer and an assistant director of operations at Hughes Missile Systems Company for 30 years and retired in 1996. During the 1970's, he was active in the Tucson Youth Football League, with his son. From 1987 to 1993, he was the Vice President and a member of the El Rio Health Center Board of Directors. Since his retirement, Clee had devoted himself to perfecting his culinary talents, traveling the world with his beloved wife, and working on the betterment of Tucson, the city he loved, through his service as the Vice President of the Board of Directors of Tucson Clean and Beautiful. A memorial service at the Santa Cruz River Park at 'El Paseo de los Arboles' will be held in January at a date to be specified later. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations in his name to El Rio Health Center, 839 West Congress, Tucson 85745 and Tucson Clean and Beautiful, 4004 South Park Avenue, Tucson 85714. Danielle Nostrand, 16, went to be with Jesus at her home in Kansas City, KS, December 26, 1998. Born in Tucson October 27, 1982 and moved to Kansas City, KS at age six. Danielle attended Deaf & Blind school in Tucson, and Turner School and The Blind School in Kansas City, and was a member of Bristol Hill United Methodist Church. Danielle was stricken at age 4 1/2 with Neurofibromatosis and under went eye surgery Radiation and did great for approximately 10 years, in the last few months the NF returned and took her life. Danielle was a most happy child always friendly with everyone, always giving everybody something especially things she had made. Loved school and church. Gave her life to Jesus at camp. Thanks to all who had her in their prayers. She is survived by her father and mother, Rick and Judy (Sevits) Nostrand; sister, Nicole; grandparents, Wally and Mary Sevits, Larry and Dee Nostrand and Cy and Lou Stevens; uncle, Joe Sevits; aunt Kathy; Melonie, Melissa, Matthew, Anthony; aunt Bonnie; uncle Doug; cousin Tena, Kenny; uncle John. Funeral service was held Tuesday at her church in Kansas City. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Private family burial will follow in East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

OSWEILER, Carole A., 56, died December 26, 1998. Wife of Jerry Osweiler; mother of Beck Osweiler, Larry Osweiler and Jimmy Osweiler; sister of Jeanne Sylvester. Mrs. Osweiler was a Unit Clerk at Tucson Medical Center. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29th at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Mass will be offered 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 30th at St. Frances De Sales Catholic Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco. Interment will be in Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. Parra; cousin, Miguel Celis of Tucson; sister-in-law, Gloria Parra. Survived by wife, Refugio (Cuca); daughter, Gina Rodriguez; sons, Rey and Rick Leon; sister, Adelina Willhite; brother, Ramon Rodriguez. Also survived by four grandchildren. Mexico); brother-in-law, Francisco Sanchez (November 1998 of Tucson). She is survived by her children, Ralph Tovarez, Gabriel (Amelia) Tovarez, Miguel (Guadalupe) Tovarez, Jose Luis Romero, Enrique Romero, all of Tucson, AZ, Carmen (Rachel) Romero, San Jose, Calif., Rosa Delia (Angel) Rojas and Hermelinda (Arturo) Rojas of Douglas, Ariz.; sisters and brother, Maria Marcos Sanchez, Tucson, Anan (Carlos) Rodriguez, Deming, NM, Ricardo Arvizu, Agua Prieta, Son. Carolina Sermeno, born November 20, 1947, died December 20, 1998. Preceded in death by her grandfather, Rogelio Varelas. She leaves her mother, Delfina Sermeno; four sisters, Linda (Bill) Doitch of San Manuel, Mona (Johnny) Linares, Gloria (Dale) West, Angela (David) Adams; seven nephews and nieces and seven grandnephews and nieces.Private services were held at Evergreen Cemetery, on Saturday, December 26, 1998.

BARRETTE, Lillian Mary Halstead, born June 25, 1919 in New Jersey, died December 27, 1998 in Tucson, Arizona. She was 79 years old. Preceded in death by son, Earl Wayne Halstead, Jr. Surviving are four children, Madeline Bland, Irene Rankhorn, Lillian Lincoln and son, Ronald Halstead. Also survived by many grandchildren, Cynthia Maxam, Bobby Maxam, Melanie Rankhorn, Misty Rankhorn, Tonya, Brandy and Gary Halstead, Christine, Shane, Robbie and Mark Lincoln. Cremation will be private.

GILBERT, Dan W., 76, of Tucson, died December 28, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Jeannette; son, Billy Joe Gilbert; daughter, Donna Radza; two grandchildren and two sisters, Pat Chapman and Dean DeGregorio. At his request, no services will be held. HEATHFIELD, Dorothy M., 82, of Tucson, died December 28, 1998 after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Loran; three sons, one daughter, and nine grandchildren. She was a proud member of the OES. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus Blvd.

LOPEZ, Josephine Bautista, age 77, died December 27, 1998 at her home in Alta Loma, California. A homemaker, she was born in Tucson, Arizona and was an Alta Loma resident for the past four years. She was a former lifelong resident of Tucson. She was a member of the Catholic Faith. She is survived by her husband, Oscar Lopez of Alta Loma; six children, Olga Lopez of Alta Loma, Oscar Lopez of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Elena Lopez of Alta Loma, Ronald Lopez of Rancho Cucamonga, Estella Lopez of Ontario, CA and Andy Lopez of Upland, CA; 12 grandchildren and seven brothers and sisters in Tucson also survive. Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 1998 at BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 1998 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 338 W. SEAGLE, Robert I., 79, of Tucson, died December 28, 1998. Survived by wife, Ruth Dee Seagle; sons, John (Mary) Seagle, Richard (Kathy) Seagle, Bruce (Terri) Seagle all of Tucson; two brothers and three sisters; grandsons, Sean, Joshua and Daniel; granddaughters, Sharon (Ed), Kristin, Wendi (Rob); great-grandchildren, Courtni and Breanna. He served four years in the Army Air Corps as a Master Sgt. during WWII in the 389th bomb group, 564th bomb squadron in The European Theatre out of Norwich, England. Retired from Mountain Bell after 36 years in 1982. A volunteer at Kino Hospital for 12 years. Funeral Service Thursday, December 31, 1:00 p.m. at Victory Assembly of God Church with Pastor Zane Anderson and Rev. Virgil Jones officiating. Interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. SLOCUM, Cecil W., 87, of Tucson, passed away December 27, 1998. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mildred; one son, Richard Cecil and wife, Juanita of Forest, VA; two grandsons, Travis Richard Slocum and Jeffrey Brugger; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Kersey of Omaha and one half-brother, Douglas Seymour. SOELLE, Cynthia Carol - In loving memory of Cynthia Carol Soelle. Went to be with the Heavenly Father on December 27, 1998 at the age of 48. She was born on August 20th 1950. She is survived by her loving friend and husband of 26 years, John; children, Jason, Jody (Keith); granddaughter, Brianna; father, Jerry (Shirley); sister, Lesli (Gordon); brother, Robin and many half/step brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and grandmother, Vivian. She will be greatly missed but can now fly with the angels. There will be a celebration of her life at a later date.
