Raymond Richard Arroyo - Born March 8, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York, passed away on January 7, 1999 in Tucson, Arizona. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Edna (nee Sanchez); his children, Raymond A. (Joann) Arroyo of Westwood, NJ, Elaine (Stephen) Paul of Tucson, Arizona; his grandchildren, Christian Thomas Arroyo and Amanda Catherine Paul; his brother, Raphael (Gloria) Arroyo of Oviedo, FL; sister, Martha (Lewis) Spano of Chappaqua, NY; nieces, Gail Vitucci, Wendy Spano and nephew, Glen Arroyo. Mr. Arroyo is a decorated veteran of World War II and a former P.O.W. He received the Purple Heart with Oakleaf Cluster and Bronze Star for his service. He worked at David McKay Publishing in New York City and retired to Tucson 10 years ago. He studied photography in New York after the war and was an accomplished portrait photographer. In retirement he was able to pursue his interest in woodworking. Arroyo Design, his daughter and son-in-law's company was named for Mr. Arroyo. He was the kindest and gentlest of men and those who were loved by him were truly blessed. Services and burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery. HANSEN, Eric James, born in Douglas on September 7, 1966, died suddenly Saturday, January 9, 1999, at his home in Mesa, Arizona. He had been sporadically ill since July 1998 and returned to the Lord peacefully in his sleep from complications due to pneumonia on January 9, 1999.
Eric graduated from Douglas High School in 1984, Chabot College, Hayward, California in 1986, and Northern Arizona University in 1988 with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing. He was employed in a supervisory position with DHL Airways, Inc. in Tempe.
While in high school, he was active in American Field Service and was a foreign exchange student to Finland in 1983. He also was a member of his high school tennis team and several other clubs and organizations.
Eric was preceded in death by his father, Harold C. Hansen. He is survived by his mother, Lourdes (Lou); brothers, Robert (Rose) of San Lorenzo, California, Richard (Liz) and Dennis (Tracey) of Tucson; sister, Christine (Nicholas) Rowton of Crowborough, East Sussex, England; six nephews and three nieces.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 16th, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Odelia's Catholic Church, 7570 N. Paseo del Norte, Tucson, with interment scheduled for a later date.

Casimir R. 'Rusty' Jurkowski, 76, went to be with the Lord peacefully at his home on January 10, 1999. Rusty was born in Ambridge, PA to Stanley and Valeria Jurkowski on July 31, 1922. Preceded in death by his father and mother, sister, Valeria and brother, Stanley, Jr.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen of 51 years; children, Raymond, Christine Griebel and Robert; their loving spouses, Elizabeth, Richard Griebel and Liza; four grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Mark Griebel and Bradley Jurkowski; sisters, Zenobia, Stella and Euphemia and brother, Cyril.
Rusty was a businessman in Ambridge for over 40 years in the beverage drive-thru business before retiring to Tucson. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII, attended Indiana State Teachers College, Indiana, PA and received great joy from his participation in the FaGaWee Golf Tribe, and memberships in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Polish Falcons, Polish National Alliance, Ukrainian National Association, American Legions, Elks, Eagles and Knights of Columbus.

Marshall Lee Moore, 84, passed away January 10, 1999 in Tucson, Arizona. He was born April 7, 1914 in Mackville, Kentucky to Robert and Gertrude Moore. He is survived by his daughters, Colleen (Jim) Lund, Anita Jean (Fred) Bodenstedt and Lyn (Arthur) Elrey and his sister, Vera (Howard) Williams and brother Bland (Louise) Moore. 10 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; four brothers; two sisters; and a grandson Steven Lund. Marshall spent many years in the wholesale car business in Los Angeles, California, retiring in 1978 and moving to Tucson that same year. He re-established his career in the car business as he formed a partnership with John Denbo in J & L Auto Sales in South Tucson. All of us who knew him will miss his humor, storytelling, and the recounting of his many life experiences. PEREZ, Lotus C. (Schaffer), passed away on January 7, 1999 in Tucson, Arizona at age 52. She was the precious fiancee and dedicated partner of Dr. Steven Gurgevich; cherished mother of Kristina and Joseph Krow, Michael and Christine Perez and Gioia and John Stenson; much loved sister-in-law of James Perez; proud grandmother of Gabriel Perez, Jordan Steele, Jamie and Marlee Perez, Noah Krow and Emily Stenson; dear sister of Lee Schaffer; loving daughter of Jeanette Schaffer and Irene Perez; loving aunt of Matthew Morbello; devoted daughter of the late Ed and Marjorie Schaffer. Preceded in death in 1996 by her beloved husband of 32 years, Tom Perez. Also survived by many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A longtime Pacifica, CA resident, Ms. Perez graduated Summa Cum Laude from San Francisco State University in 1994. She was greatly respected as an accomplished copy editor and journalist for several Bay Area publications.
For the past two years, Ms. Perez has split her time between her home in Pacifica and her home in Tucson, which she shared with her devoted partner, Dr. Steven Gurgevich. Together they co-founded Tranceformation Works, an internet-based business that provides healing resources and support for individuals and families experiencing chronic illness. This venture came out of their mutual experience of caring for spouses who had been terminally ill and their desire to help others. Ms. Perez and Dr. Gurgevich became engaged this New Year's Day at 12:01 a.m., as their first act of 1999. They had hoped to be married soon.
