MABEL IRENE VOTAW CONDIT, 92, passed away peacefully on January 13, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Edwin C. Condit. She is survived by her son, William E. (Helen) Condit and daughter, Shirley (James) Starkey of Tucson and daughters, Alice (William) Loveless of Houston, Texas, and Olive 'Toddy' Caid of Atlanta, Georgia. Surviving grandchildren are Marilyn Condit (Richard) Montgomery, William W. (Joni) Condit, Pamela Condit (Robert) Selby, Brian E. (Ruth) Condit, M.D., Susan Loveless (Jerry) Massey, Donald E. (Itah) Loveless, Virginia Loveless (James) Siegfried, Kathleen J. Caid, Thomas J. (Judy) Caid, James D. Caid, Karen A. Caid, James D. (Richard) Musselmann, and Richard C. (Jennifer) Starkey. She also leaves 32 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and cousin Allegra (Stan) Gilson and nephew William Stanmore, California. Mabel was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on August 5, 1906. She attended the University of Colorado in Boulder where she met and married Ed Condit. They moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1932. She was active in many organizations including Girl Scouts, Parent Teacher's Association, and Business and Professional Women's Club. During World War Two she spent countless hours at the Red Cross cutting and sewing uniforms for the troops. She received several commendations for her dedication. She was a member of the Social Order of the Beauceant #115 and Chapter AU, P.E.O. She was a manager of the University of Arizona Park Avenue Bookstore for many years and was an avid Wildcat supporter. Memorial services will be held Monday, January 18, 1999, at Christ Community Church, 7801 E. Christopher Lee Duran, age 29, born in Anaheim, CA, passed away in Tucson, AZ to be with our Lord in Heaven on Wednesday, January 14, 1999. Survived by his loving wife, Anita; devoted daughters, Diana and Stephanie; father and mother, August and Vivian Duran; mother, Melody; brothers and sisters, Alex, Mike, Nick, Amanda and Stephanie; loving in-laws; Simon and Bernice Arnone, Kelly and Alex and family, John and Michelle and family and many, many loving and faithful friends. Chris was a most beloved and adored husband and father and a very loving Christian man who was gifted with many talents from our Lord which he shared with many. HUDSPETH, Harry Ward, of Tucson, passed away December 17, 1998, just shy of his 93rd birthday, joining his beloved wife, Geneva, who predeceased him in October 1994. He was born January 18, 1906 in Herrin, Illinois. He is survived by his loving son, Charles of Las Vegas, Nevada; his brother, U.L. Hudspeth of Tucson and his niece, Shirley Price of Riverside, California. They remember Harry as a thoughtful, caring and generous father, brother and uncle.
Harry had resided in Tucson for over 75 years. He partnered and managed Speedway Pharmacy for many years. He was a well respected and liked member of the business community.
Harry overcame many health adversities to live a full and interesting life.
Harry was one of those rare individuals who always had time for people. He gave of himself generously and unselfishly.
He was a member of the Broadway Christian Church and requested in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Broadway Christian Church Memorial Fund, 4741 E. Broadway, Tucson, Arizona 85711.
A service will be held at Broadway Christian Church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 1999.
CHALK, Glen D., died on January 14, 1999. Survived by his wife, Evelyn Florence (nee Cagnon); his son, John (Anna Marie) and stepson, Ronald LeFebvre. Glen was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianne Mitchell (Jimmy). McKIBBIN, Clarence Perkins 'Pap', 95, passed away January 13, 1999 of natural causes. He is survived by his wife, Rose; son, Wib (Roma) McKibbin; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Perk moved to Tucson in 1977 after retiring as a Chevrolet parts dept. manager in Mars, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed playing golf twice a week at El Rio Golf Course until he was 92 years old. Perk will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Roy F. 'Royito' Ortiz, age 34, beloved husband, father, son and brother went HOME to our LORD peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, January 13, 1999. He gave his LOVE through his smile, his laughter, his humor, his music, his writings, his encouragement, his loving nursing care and his overall genius. BULLINGTON, Susie Mae, 75, died ather home on January 13, 1999. On April 1, 1923 she was born in and lived her entire life in Tucson, AZ, where she raised seven children. CORBETT, Jane Lynne Patrick, 56, passed away on January 16, 1999. Lynn graduated from Rincon High School in 1960, attended the University of Arizona and graduated from Las Vegas Community College. She lived in Las Vegas, Nevada and returned to Tucson in 1986. She lovingly survives in the memories of her mother, Dolores Patrick; son, Curtis Stahl, brother Robert (Judy) Patrick; step sister, Julie Larkin; and her many friends. DEFILIPPIS, Rose (De Masi), devoted mother and wife, died on January 16, 1999 after a valiant and long struggle of 12 years against breast cancer. She is survived by devoted husband of 25 years, Attilio; heart broken children, Tina, Paolo, and Carlo; her loving parents Giuseppe and Antonietta De Masi; sister, Assunta Ali; brother, Cosimo (Flaminia) De Masi; brother-in-law, Alfonso (Janet) DeFilippis of Lehighton, PA; brother-in-law, Peter DeFilippis of Mahanoy City, PA. She is also survived by the following nephews and nieces, Vincenzo (Maria Stella) Ali and children; Francesco (DeAnna) Ali and son; Giuseppe (Arlene) Ali; Giuseppe De Masi; P.J. and David DeFilippis and extended family Thomas (Dee) Porlidis; Vito (Bernadette) Telesca and family; Cosmo (Anna) Ali; Pina (Fedele) Colosimo and daughter; Loreta (Charles) Foley; Gabriele (Pompea) Barillari and daughters; Antonio (Assunta) Fazio; Martha Jordan and family and scores of other close friends and family in Tucson, Italy, Canada, Connecticut, Australia, Florida and elsewhere. Rose was born on April 9, 1946 in Nardodipace, Italy. She came to the U.S. in 1966 and after a brief stay in Connecticut she and her family moved to Tucson to be together with her sister Assunta (Damiano) Ali and family. She graduated from the U of A in 1972 with a degree in French Language and Literature. She met her future husband, Attilio, in 1972 and they got married in December 1973. They moved to Connecticut where her husband worked, and lived there for twenty years before they returned to live in Tucson in 1993. Rose was a very strong, warm and affectionate person. She loved to entertain family and friends. Her hospitality and generosity were legendary. She had many talents, among them cooking, sewing, flower arranging, arts and crafts. For two years she displayed her creations at the Ocotillo Artisans Christmas Fair. However, being an outstanding mother to her children was her proudest accomplishment. Rose put up a strong and valiant fight against breast cancer. She was an inspiration to those who saw her and suffered with her in her battle against this dreaded disease. Rose was truly a beautiful person who left an indelible print on the lives of those she touched. She was respected, admired and loved by everyone who knew her. HILLARY, Frank M. 'Pancho', 75 of Tucson, passed away Friday, January 15, 1999. Survived by two former wives, Mary G.Hillary and Debra L. Hillary; daughters, Frances C. Moisa, Trini I. KESSLER, Rose, 97, passed away January 16, 1999 in Boca Raton, Florida. Beloved wife of the late Frank Kessler and dearest mother of Helen (Elliot) Mesirow and the late Maurice 'Reedie' Kessler. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Rosie was a sweet and friendly little woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Dick McClure - Departed this world on January 14, 1999 to be united with his Saviour, Jesus Christ, and reunited with his wife of 61 years (Elma), in the heavenly mansions of the Lord. Dick was born in Stratford, OK, on January 21, 1914 to Pat and Pearl (Cavender) McClure. He was a farmer in OK, worked in the shipyards in CA during WWII, and worked in the copper mines of Morenci (1950-62) and Tucson (1962-75).
Dick was an avid outdoorsman who always regaled us with his hunting, fishing and trapping exploits as a young man in OK during the 1930's and in CO and AZ through the late 80's. Dick is survived by his two sons, Bob (Frances) of Indio, CA, and Jimmy (Donna) of Tucson; his daughter, Betty (Larry) Shelman of Tucson; his half-sister, Patsy McClure, of Ada, OK; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph and Bill; and his half-brother, Albert Stevenson. While his death will leave an empty place in our hearts, the memories and experiences of a wise and honorable man will be our everlasting reward.

MCCOWN, James Dess, age 84, went to be with the Lord on January 15, 1999. He was born in Cicero, Illinois. Since early retirement from the Railroad he has spent much of this time in Arizona, most of his life he lived in Malden, WA. Survived by his second wife of 6 years, Blanche; and daughters, Margeret (Paul) Sarchet of Tucson, Lottie (Dan) Crider of St. John, WA.; Dorothy Clarkson of Airway Heights, WA; and son, James E. McCown of Lacey, WA.; 15 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 58 years, Mary and daughter Violet. He loved his family and friends and was always interested in their lives. He will have his services in Spokane. Interment at Graveside Service next week at Spokane Memorial Gardens. MONTGOMERY, John R., born January 4, 1930, passed away on January 15, 1999. Survived by son, Zachary P. Montgomery of Tucson; and daughter, Heidi Hendrix of Mississippi; and five grandchildren. He spent four years in the Army and is a U of A Alumni. John retired after over 30 years with Bureau of Indian Affairs in Colorado, New Mexico, Montana and Arizona.
