MOLNAR, Charles 'Chuck', age 62, died Friday January 29, 1999 of cancer. He is survived by his wife, Liz Molnar of Tucson; one daughter, Susan Carlson of Tucson; three brothers, Joseph and Sandor Molnar both of Tucson, and Ferenc Molnar living in Hungary; three sisters, Erzsebet Torok of Hungary, Katalin Csaky of Hungary, Zsofia Papp of Hungary; step-mother, Zsofia Molnar of Hungary; and by two grandchildren, Jesse and Jacquelyn Carlson both of Tucson. Mr. Molnar moved from Chicago in 1980, and worked as a machinist. He was the best husband, father and grandfather anyone could hope to have. We were lucky to have him. He will be missed greatly by us all. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 1999. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 1999, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 5150 N. Valley View Road. The family has requested, that those who desire, may make contributions to the Carondelet Hospice, 1802 W. St. Mary's Rd., 85745, in memory of Mr. Molnar.

WILLIAM C. SHEPHERD, 77, a devoted father and brother, died January 27, 1999. He is survived by his daughters, Linda (David) Conn, Catherine (Jon) Robson and Patricia (Robert) Buchanan; grandchildren, Brett, Bart, Brian, Brad, and Sarah Conn and Joshua Buchanan; brothers/sister, Bob (Ann), Pete (Mary), Jack, John (Helen), Harry (Jan) and Daisy Shepherd. Born in New York, New York on March 11, 1921, Bill was an exceptional student and athlete receiving his Masters of Science Degree in Human Engineering from Purdue University, Indiana; Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration and Psychology from Sacramento State University, California; and three Associate Degrees in General Studies, Accounting, and Business Management from Northern Virginia Community College, Virginia. Captain of the basketball team at Tuft's University, he was able to lead his team to numerous championships. Commissioned in the United States Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant, Bill served his country in peacetime and war (Veteran of WWII and Vietnam) for over 29 years rising to the grade of Lieutenant Colonel. His numerous accomplishments include Master Navigator Wings and Guided Missile Insignia, decorations of the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Joint Services Commendations Medal, and President Unit Citation in addition to various campaign and service medals. Following his service in the Air Force he served as an internal auditor for a senior defense organization until his second retirement in 1978. Bill loved Sacramento, California for it was there he retained the fondest memories of his family and career. He will be sorely missed as a father, friend and counselor. He will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia with full military honors and will join his wife, Eileen for their ultimate journey together. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

Herbert Leonard Silverberg - Finished his fight with lung cancer on Saturday, January 30, 1999. Herb was born on May 24, 1929 in Bronx, New York. At ten years of age, his family moved to California and at 13 years old they moved to Tucson where he worked for his father after school in the family jewelry business, now known as S. Silverberg & Sons. Herb learned the trade well, continued to go to school and graduated from Tucson High School in 1947. He then became a partner with his father in 1953 and then his brother joined them in 1959. He worked all his life doing what he loved and knew so well. Herb is best remembered by his family, friends and customers for his generosity and fun-loving spirit.
Herb is survived and loved by his wife of 20 years, Jeanne; his sons, Stanley of Tucson and Daniel of Encino, California; brother, Bernie (Cynthia) Silverberg; sister, Rosyln (John) Silverberg-Pilkington all of Tucson; nephews, nieces, many additional loving family members and friends.
Services will be held Wednesday, February 3, 1999, 10:00 a.m. at Congregation Anshei Israel, 5550 E. 5th St., with Rabbi Arthur R. Oleisky, Rabbi Joseph S. Weizenbaum and Cantor Ivor Lichterman officiating. Interment to follow in Congregation Anshei Israel Section of Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile.
In keeping with Jewish tradition, the family respectfully requests no flowers. Contributions and remembrances celebrating Herb's love for his community and charitable organizations may be made in his name to Angel Charity for Children, in care of Gail Larocca, 5373 E. Calle Bosque, Tucson, AZ 85718.
Friends are invited to join his family for a celebration of his life and a kosher meal of condolence in Breger Hall at Congregation Anshei Israel following the interment. The immediate family will be sitting Shiva privately.

WOOTTON, Edna Andruss, 82 of Tucson, Arizona gently passed away on January 28, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Edgar Arden Wootton and a son, Walter A. Wootton of Harlingen, TX. She is survived by her sons, Dr. Lawrence A. Wootton of Clearfield, PA. and William A. Wootton of Tucson, AZ.; a sister, Leila Williams of San Jose, CA.; a step-brother, John; grandchildren, Janeice, Charles, Steven, Jennifer, Amy, Lisa, David and Rebecca; and two great-grandchildren. Edna was born in New Jersey and was a teacher all her life. She spent the last several years teaching for the Tucson Adult Literacy Volunteers. At Mrs. Wootton's request there will be no services. BERMINGHAM, Peter, age 61, died Saturday, January 30, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor of Tucson; four sons, Christopher, Jason, Alexander and Nicholas Bermingham all of Tucson; one daughter, Noelle Bermingham of San Francisco; three brothers, John of Anacortes, WA, Dennis of Buffalo, NY and Richard of Port Washington, NY; one sister, Mary Bermingham of Reading, PA. Dr. Bermingham had served as Director of the University of Art Museum for the past 20 years, and was formerly associated with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC. Prior to his work with the Smithsonian he served as a Professor of Art History with the University of Cincinnati. He had received his BA and MA from the University of Maryland, and his Doctorate from the University of Michigan. Dr. Bermingham was a military veteran having served in the Air Force from 1958 to 1962. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 1999 in the Chapel of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 5150 N. Valley View Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 Wednesday, February 3, 1999 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Burial will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Arizona Art Museum.

BROOKSHIER, Clara B., 84, died January 30, 1999. She was born to Jobie and Millie McPherson August 7, 1914 in Roswell, N.M. She married her high school sweetheart and in 1937 moved to Tucson. During their marriage of 64 years, they worked in several businesses together and were well known in bowling circles in Tucson, Safford and Phoenix. Preceded in death by her husband, she is survived by sons, Kirk Jr. (Suzette), Monty G. (Sandra); and daughter, Jeanette Hastings (Roy). She will also be lovingly remembered as 'Gamie' by 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Per her request, there will be no service. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. (@ Magee).

Lt. Col. John Henry Buzard, (US Army Ret.), 83, passed peacefully on January 29, 1999 in Tucson, Arizona. He was born March 10, 1915 in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania. Col. Buzard served his country in the US Army for 26 years. Part of that time of service was in the Corps of Engineers. He received many commendations, awards and citations. One that he treasured most was the respect of the men and women who served with him. His service took him all over the world, including tours in Europe, Africa and Korea. He was also a veteran of World War II. Col. Buzard, affectionately called 'Hank' by those who knew him, is survived by his wife of 37 years, Elinor; and two children, Mary Jean McIntyre and John William Buzard. Also five grandchildren, Sheri, Teresa, Kary, David and Lisa; six great-grandchildren, Nathan, Sarah, Cody, Kyle and Ashleigh. Jourdan preceded his great-grandpa and was waiting for him to join him. Also, he is survived by his brother, Victor Buzard and was predeceased by his siblings, George, TK, Joe, Eugene and 'Sis' Mary Ellen Whitcomb also predeceased him. There are many nephews, nieces and friends also. A memorial service will be held at HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3.

EVANS, Thomas W., 79, of Tucson, died January 31, 1999. Member of American Legion. Husband of Theresa D. of Tucson; father of Thomas A. (Diane) Evans, Michael W. (Helen) Evans; grandfather of Christopher T. Evans; brother of Timothy, William and Robert Evans. Predeceased by sister, Mary Ellen Powers. Vigil Service at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, Wednesday February 3 at 7:00 p.m. Mass at St. Odilia Church Thursday, February 4, 1999 at 9:00 a.m. Burial at Holy Hope Cemetery. FOULKES, Margaret M., 89, of Tucson, AZ, died January 31, 1999. Survived by her three children and their spouses; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and her friends from Desert Garden Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Margaret was born in NY City and lived in Little Falls, NJ for 29 years before moving to Tucson 13 years ago. GONGORA, Maria B., age 82, a resident of Tucson for the past five years, passed away February 1st, 1999. Born December 1st, 1916 in Cumpas, Sonora, Mexico. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ramon; daughters, Hilda Montoya and Norma Gonzalez; son, Ramon Gongora, Jr.; daughter, Enedina Granados; son, Jose Pedro Gongora; daughters, Maria Rozek, Ana Celia Gongora and Elda Lorena Cazares; 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 1999 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Evening service at 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, Rev. Angel Tejeda of Iglesia De Dios officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by South Lawn Mortuary, an Aftercare Provider.

HUNT, Darlene P., age 65 of Tucson, passed away January 30, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Arvel B. Hunt; sons, Lynn and Roger; daughters, Elaine, Marlene, Kay, Linda, and Deanne; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Albert; sisters, Afton and Lonnie; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held in The Mortuary Chapel, 5401 S. Park, 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 1999. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, an aftercare provider.

OLIVAS, Ramon Borboa, 74, passed away January 31, 1999. Mr. Olivas was born in Amado, Arizona and is a longtime Tucson resident and WWII veteran. Survived by his wife of 43 years, Socorro; son, Victor (Barbara) Olivas; daughters, Benita and Elvia Olivas; granddaughters, Brittney and Yolanda Smith and their father, Mark. He is also survived by brother, Filiberto (Lupe) Olivas; sisters, Josefina (Raul) Montano, Herlinda Stell, Elisa Olivas and Mary (Henry) Larrivas as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close family friends. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, at BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Mass will be offered 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 1999 at St. John's Catholic Church, 602 W. Ajo. Burial in TMP South Lawn. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 1999 at Bring's Memorial Chapel, 236 S. Scott.

STUMP, Richard Leroy, 55, of Tucson, died January 31, 1999. Rich is survived by wife, Rhonda and son, Chad Stump both of Tucson; four brothers and six sisters. Visitation will be Wednesday, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME with Graveside Service, Friday in Greenville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cancer Research. TALAVERA, Ray V., 88, longtime resident of Tucson was born on December 5, 1910 in Valedon, New Mexico and died on Friday, January 29, 1999 in Silver City, NM. He is survived by his daughters, Cathy T. Fuentes, Betty Johnston, Melle Hernandez; sisters, Rosa Salinas, Cuca Tovar; brothers, Juan Talavera, Arturo Talavera, Benny Talavera, Lalito Talavera; grandchildren, Monica C.Fuentes, Tommy Ray Fuentes, Sherri Savonen, Dodie McVeety, David Johnston, Neteri Reynolds, Rocky Hernandez, Melanie Hernandez, Marissa Hernandez; 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Talavera was a retired Drift Minter with Magma Copper Mines. He was also a professional musician who played with 'Los Talaveras', an all brother orchestra, and he was an undefeated boxer, who was once dubbed 'The Pride of Hildalgo County.' A visitation will beheld from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 1999 at St. Augustine's Cathedral, 192 S. Stone, with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine's on Thursday, February 4, 1999 at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY, an Aftercare Provider.

VALENZUELA, Albina A., 70, of Tucson, died January 31, 1999. Survived by sons, Manuel Aguilar of Chanute, KS, Ray Valenzuela of Tucson; daughters, Corina Lira, Yolanda Burrel and Lucy Kane all of Phoenix, AZ, Irene Valenzuela and Victoria Valenzuela both of Tucson; brother, Vidal Aguilar of Eloy, AZ; sister, Isabell Barron of Silver City, NM; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. WEIMER, Mable M., age 91, was born May 17, 1907 in Abdul, Nebraska and died Sunday, January 31, 1999 in Tucson. She is survived by one son, Larry Weimer (Shirley) of Tucson; one daughter, Judy McKee (Ronald) of Goleta, CA; three sisters, Millie Houtz of Wray, CO, Mary Ann Robinson and Honey Schaaf both of Superior, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Danna Celaya of Tucson, Brad Weimer of LaQuinta, CA, Jeff McKee of Centertown, MO and Barbara Kimball of San Clemente, CA. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway) from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 1999 and Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery.

DEAN, Deward A., 85, of Tucson, died at the VA Hospital on January 30, 1999. Mr. Dean was born in Chase County, NE in 1913. He served in the Air Force and after 20 years of faithful service he retired and settled in Tucson. He then worked and eventually retired from many years of civil service. Mr. Dean was also an active member of Pima St. Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of50 years, Dorothy. He is survived by his children, John (Alberta), Richard (Ann), Larry, and several loving nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, (Dodge Chapel), 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway) on Thursday, February 4 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. where services will be held on Friday, February 5 at 10:00 a.m., Pastor Randy Dick will officiate. GRAY, Vernon E. - Graveside Services for Vern Gray who died January 8, 1999, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, at the Garden of the Apostles, East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Relatives and friends are welcome to come and celebrate his life.

HODGES, Sanford Lester 'Les' age 59, of West Plains, MO, formerly of the Tucson, AZ area died at 11:05 a.m. Sunday, January 31, 1999 in Ozarks Medical Center, West Plains. Mr. Hodges was born October 21, 1939 at Sweetwater, OK the son of Sanford Sam and Anna Belle Lewis Hodges. He graduated from high school at San Diego, CA and on June 27, 1962 was married at Hastings, Nebraska to Sally Contratto. Mr. Hodges retired from the United States Air Force with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant and had been stationed at the Davis-Monthan Air force Base. He is survived by his wife, Sally Hodges, of the family home; three children, Anne Adele McGrail and husband, Bryan, Hollister, CA, Sanford Lester Hodges, Mars Hill, NC and Elisabeth Lynn Hodges, Salk Lake City, UT; three grandchildren, his parents, Sanford and Anna Belle Hodges, Alton, MO; four brothers, Hubert Hodges and wife, JoAnne, Shidler, OK, Neal Hodges and wife, Sharon, Lakeside, CA, Roy Hodges and wife, Marrie, Riddle, OR and James Hodges and wife, Angie, Alton, MO: two sisters, Donna Hamlett, Seattle, WA and Patricia Burton and husband, Nat, Birch Tree, MO; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hodges is preceded in death by his brother, Randell. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of West Plains for 17 years. Funeral services for Sanford Lester 'Les' Hodges will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 1999 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with interment in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in memory of Sandford Lester 'Les' Hodges may be made to any charity of choice and may be mailed to Robertson Drago Funeral Home.

Robert Y. 'Beto' Garcia, of Tucson, was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 27, 1999. Preceded in death by parents, Juan and Maria; sisters, Benita Yslava and Juanita Garcia; brothers, Ernesto and Mariano Garcia. Survived by son, Michael Rene; sisters, Maria Granillo and Adela Kelley; brothers, Alberto and Fred Garcia. Beto was born in Tucson, AZ on August 5, 1938. He was a barber for over 30 years. Beto was also a very talented and well known artist. He loved being with and helping people. He was very devoted to the Virgin of Guadalupe. At the time of his passing, he was involved with the Cursillistas from Los Algodones, Mexicali. Beto leaves many beloved nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 4, 1999 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave. with Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be offered on Friday, February 5, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY. Family suggests donations be made to the Cathedral Maintenance Fund.
