BENSON, John Richard, died Wednesday, February 9, 1999. Born March 16, 1948, moved to Tucson in 1983. He was Hospital Administrator for Federal Bureau of Prisons, MCC Tucson, later employed by Coming Home in Tucson. Survived by his long term companion, James Weingart of Tucson. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 18 at Adair Funeral Home, Dodge Chapel (time to be announced in Thursday's paper). Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 19, 3:00 p.m. at St Margaret's Church, 801 N. Grande Ave. Private burial will be held in Cave Creek National Cemetery.

BRUBAKER, Grace Mildred Wallingford, passed away February 15, 1999 at the Life Care Center, Sierra Vista. Born August 22, 1903 to parents George Washington and Sarah Ann Dawson Wallingford in Garrison, KY and lived in Maysville, KY until moving to Tucson in 1992. She married Cecil Norwood Brubaker on December 16, 1922. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Carroll) Fyffe of Sierra Vista; grandchildren Joe Fyffe of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jane (Mike) Wehner of Tucson; three great-grandchildren, James, Nicole and Meghan Wehner, all of Tucson; five nieces and one nephew. Grace was predeceased by her husband Cecil; daughter, Harriet; parents, three sisters and two brothers, and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, in Maysville, KY, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Visitation and Prayer Service will be held at Hatfield Funeral Home in Sierra Vista on Sunday February 21, from 4:00-5:00 PM. Private burial. Memorials may be sent to Trinity United Methodist Church in Maysville, KY 41056; The Methodist Children's Home in Versailles, KY or your charity of choice. Condolences may be sent to her family at 1014 Essex Drive, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635-4927.

William J. (Bill) DeLong - Beloved and devoted husband of L. 'Sam'; dearly loved father of Robin, Lee, Jim, Bill, Linda and Peter; affectionate grandfather of Jennifer, Katharine, Jordan, Kyle, John and Meredith; adored nephew of Betty Tinkle; respected and caring uncle of Arlene Boyle and Ardith; and wise and loving friend of many hundreds, passed away on Monday, February 15th, after a valiant fight with cancer at the age of 68. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Betty Farinacci; and his first wife, Kay Riche.
Bill had a remarkable life, touching thousands of people with his warmth, kindness, humor and honesty. Born in Albany, N.Y., he joined the Army and served his country with great honor and distinction for 21 years, retiring at the rank of major. His distinguished career included tours of duty in both Korea and Viet Nam, for which he received the Legion of Merit, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Viet Nam Service Medal. Bill retired as a major in Tucson, where he started a successful career as a small business owner, and held different posts in both the Tucson and Pima County governments. In 1981, he was elected to the Arizona House of Representatives, and went on to serve eight years in the Senate. He was directly responsible for the formulation and passage of several important bills, including the Grandparents Bill of Right and the K-3 Enhancement Funding. He left politics in 1991 to work in the medical professional staffing field.
Bill was a tireless volunteer, giving freely of his time and experience to both civic and professional organizations, including the Optimist Club, the Boys Clubs of Tucson, Little League Baseball, the Sahuaro Girl Scout Council, and the Southern Arizona Mental Health Center.
Bill will be lovingly remembered, and terribly missed. His care and concern for others, his sense of duty and respect for discipline, his strength, wisdom and humor, his humility and his courage, in death as in life, will remain in inspiration for us all.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 19 at Davis-Monthan AFB Chapel #1; the burial follows at Ft. Huachuca Post Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Donations can be made to the Department of History at The University of Arizona in the name of the William J. DeLong Undergraduate Scholarship Fund, an endowment established to assist undergraduates in any discipline. The address is the Department of History, Attn: Kathy Westerhaus, Social Sciences Bldg. Room 215, University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ 85721. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday February 18th at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910E. Broadway.

DUARTE, Maria Magdalena, 58, of Tucson, died Tuesday, February 16, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Frank; son, Juan Carlos Duarte; sisters, Matilda Tapia, Petra Valenzuela; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at HEATHER MORTUARY, an Aftercare Provider, 1040 N. Columbus Blvd. on Sunday, February 21, 1999 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at Tucson Spanish Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1101 S. 5th Ave. Burial will follow at Monte Calvario Cemetery.

GOUDIN, Richard J., passed away peacefully February 24, 1999. He was born October 20, 1952 to Art and Betty Goudin. He is survived by his father, Artur Goudin; stepmother, Janet; brother, Mark Goudin (Amy Blake); stepsister, Carie Goudin; aunt, Mary Davis and many cousins. Graveside service will be held Saturday, February 20, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Desert. Services by DESERT ROSE CREMATION & BURIAL.

HENTHORN, Paul R., 83, of Tucson, died February 15, 1999. Survived by wife, Juanita L. Henthorn; son, Ronald A. Tyler Henthorn; daughter, Paula Denise Henthorn; and two grandchildren. Paul is preceded in death by two grandchildren. Private funeral and burial will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, an aftercare provider.

KATZ, Bernie, 89, resident of Tempe for three years, passed away February 16, 1999. Survived by wife, Frona; son, Barry Katz of Hillsboro, OR; stepson, Robert Lindsay of Chicago; sister, Esther Goldman of Chicago; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Bernie was owner of B & K Jobbers of Dry Goods in Tucson for 42 years prior to moving to Tempe. Service Friday, February 19, 11:00 a.m. Evergreen Mortuary. Consuelo A. Molina, 85, of Tucson, passed away February 15, 1999. Preceded in death by husband, Jose Molina and brother, Miguel Aguilera; daughter, Josie Zarate. Survived by daughters, Mary (George) Camacho, Leonor (Ramon) Quintero, Angie (Frank) Quintero, Belen Ramirez and Dorothy (Bob) Fink; son, Jose (Elizabeth) Molina; sister, Teresa Huerta; brother, Jose Jesus (Jimmy) Aguilera. Also survived by 21 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 18, 1999 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Santa Cruz Church, with Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be offered on Friday, February 19, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church. WELCH, Shirley E., age 83, a resident of Tucson for the past 78 years, passed away February 17, 1999. Born July 18, 1915 in Pratt, Kansas. She is survived by her son, Carl L. (Sherryll) Welch; grandchildren, Leo, Mike and Cindy; great-grandchildren, DW, Candie, Nicole and Brian; brothers, Melvin, Kenneth, Sy and Bob Norvelle; sister, Vivian Askew. Predeceased by her husband, Obie and her brothers, Lawrence and Bill Norvelle. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 1999 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 1999 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, Rev. Tom Harris of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. BRAY, Esther O., 89, died February 10, 1999. Mother of Mildred (Donald) Sincavage, Beatrice (Gary) Graham all of Phoenix and Edith (O.J.) Clayton of Tucson; sister of George Owen, Alice Tokatch and Martha Butcher all of Pennsylvania. Seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive. Memorial service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 1999 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Oracle, Arizona conducted by Raul Yubeta, Sr. Inurnment of cremains March 6, 1999 in Resthaven Cemetery, Phoenix, Arizona. ENLOW, Margaret Leta, 87, of Mesa, Arizona, died February 16, 1999. She was born in Waterloo, Iowa and lived in Arizona for 41 years. Survivors include sons, Norman K. Enlow and Albert N. Enlow, Jr; daughter, Leta Joy Betts; sisters, Romaine L. Swope, Sada H. Swope, Naomi L. Swope; brothers, Charles F. Swope, George E. Swope, Roland N. Swope; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Bunker's Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ (602) 964-8686.

Helen Ida Lutz - Passed away in the arms of her son on Tuesday, February 14th, 1999. Born on July 6, 1912. She is survived by her son, Charles Lutz and her two grandchildren, Brian and Andrew. Helen had a wonderful 42 year marriage with Reinhard Lutz who passed away in 1985. From Chicago, they moved out to Tucson in 1976 and enjoyed the best of retirement. Together they traveled the highways of the U.S. pulling their Airstream trailer stopping only long enough for food, fuel and a game of golf. They always sang 'oh may we go a-wandering until the day we die, and may we always laugh and sing, beneath God's clear blue sky'. They are loved and missed so much by friends and family. A memorial service will be held in Tucson, Sunday, February 21st, 1:00 p.m. at 4860 N. Paseo del Tupo. All who knew them are welcome.

McLAUGHLIN, John E., age 70, died Wednesday, February 17, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Betty McLaughlin of Tucson; one son, John P. McLaughlin (Robin) of Tucson; three daughters, Kennalee Nemudrov (Victor) of Albuquerque, NM, Tammy Skinner (Robert), and Robin McLaughlin both of Tucson; two sisters, Helen Greil of California, Mary Creasy of Tennessee, and by grandchildren, Jermy, Dominic, Travis, Mark, Jared, Dawn, Melody, and Elizabeth. Mr. McLaughlin was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kayla who died in 1999. John was a veteran of military service, having served with the Navy. He had owned and operated the McLaughlin Paint and Body Shop in Tucson for 48 years, retiring in 1995. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, (Dodge Chapel), 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway) from 1:00 p.m. 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 1999. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. The family has requested that those who desire may make contributions to the Pima Heart Care, 445 Silverbell 85745, in memory of Mr. McLaughlin.

MITZEN, Frances C., 83, died February 17, 1999. Great aunt of Mary Lou Devido and Fred Grajewski. Her special friend, Steve Bozki also survives. Daughter of Paul and Rose Zolowski Mitzen (deceased). She was a member of Young at Heart Group and St. Frances De Sales Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Mass will be offered 8:00 a.m. Saturday, February 20 at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco with interment to follow at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. NOKLEBY, Melvin, 89, retired contractor, died February 17, 1999 at the home of his son in Palm Springs, CA. Survivors include his son, Lee of Palm Springs, CA; daughter, Gloria Barker of Scottsdale, AZ; sisters, Mina Triebwasser, Minot, ND, Margaret Stromswald, Spokane, WA; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Graveside Services Monday, February 22, 1999, 3:00 p.m. at East Lawn Cemetery, Tucson, AZ. Arranged by Wiefels & Son Funeral Home, Palm Springs, CA.
In Loving Memory of My Brother

Leonard C. Sanchez, 77, (Bush Master) of Tucson, AZ. Died February 7, 1999 in Chula Vista, California. Born in Nogales, Arizona, 1921. Mr. Sanchez attended schools in Tucson and joined the Army National Guard in 1940. He was sent to Panama and then was sent to Germany, where he joined the 2nd Armored Division. He was captured while crossing the Rhine River in Germany and became a POW for a month. He returned home to Tucson in 1945, married Julia Munguia in July, 1945 and started a family. In the late 1950s he moved to California. Mr. Sanchez was retired after working as a cement finisher.
Preceded in death by his father, Leonard Sanchez; his mother, Josephine Sanchez; sister, Mary Calderon; and son, Leonard Sanchez III. Survivors include his wife, Julia M. Sanchez; daughters, Mary Jane Castro and Dina Sanchez, all of Chula Vista; sister, Frances (Ralph) Barlow of Tucson; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; many nephews, nieces and friends.
Services were held at Greenwood Mortuary in San Diego, California, and mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Chula Vista, California.
Always in may prayers and in may heart.

UMBAUGH, Russell Eugene, 90, died February 15, 1999. Husband of Vera Umbaugh; father of Sandra (Tom) Bowman, Barbara (Jim) Hoelscher and Elizabeth Umbaugh; grandfather of 14 grandchildren; brother of Win Wilkinson and Marge Dotson. Funeral service 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 20th at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, with Rev. Howard Higgins officiating. Burial in TMP South Lawn. A.C. 'BUD' DAVIS, 71, of Tucson, died February 18, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Carmen C. Davis; daughter, Calista A. Davis of San Diego, CA; son, Jerry R. (Nancy) Davis of Edmond, OK: grandchildren, Kristen Davis and Ashley Davis of Princeton, NJ, Katelyn C. Davis-Frank and Patrick W. Davis-Frank of San Diego, Rachel Davis and Shauna Davis of Edmond, OK: daughter-in-law, Jean W. Davis of Princeton, NJ; sister, Nadine (Frank) Arlang of Rio Rancho, NM; several nieces and nephews and his companion, Tuzzi. He was predeceased by a son, Craig H. Davis on January 29, 1997. Mr. Davis graduated from high school in Medford, OR and attended college in Berkeley, CA. He served in the US Coast Guard during WWII. He was a member of Eel River Lodge #147 F&AM in CA and was an active member and past president of Ballut Abyad Shrine, Raton, NM. He was a lumberman and for many years owned lumber companies in Fields Landing, Fortuna, CA, Forestville, CA, Jefferson, TX and Cimarron, NM. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Tucson National Country Club. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, 2:00 p.m. Evergreen Mortuary, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of A.C. 'Bud' Davis to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95817. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY.
