HEGLUND, Marlene Joyce, 67, of Tucson, died February 19, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Vernon; children, Kathleen Benson, Stephen Heglund and Debra Manzutto; eight grandchildren and sisters, Carol Hughes and Linda Cusamano; brother, Kenny Peterson. She was preceded in death by a son, Peter and sister, Diane Weatherup. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 1999 at the New Apostolic Church, 8282 E. Pima at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus Blvd. an aftercare provider.

HENDRICKS, Kenneth J. 'Ken', 73, of Tucson, AZ went to be with the Lord February 18, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty; children, Jim (Sonja), Tacoma, WA and Sue (Steve) Mason, Tucson, AZ; four grandsons; one great-grandson; sisters, Irene Lange and June Von Veghel and brother, Jerry. Ken served with the Navy in WWII and the Korean War. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8650 N. Shannon Rd. at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 1999. 'He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed.' Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.

HEUSTIS, Marjorie M., 75, widow of Harry L. Heustis, died February 19, 1999. She had been a resident of Tucson for 30 years, previously from K.C., MO. She is survived by her sons, Robert of St. Petersburg, FL and Gene of Abbeville, N.C.; daughters, Michele Kelly of Pikeville, N.C. and Stephanie Kyleof Vail, AZ; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren also survive. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to Hospice Family Care. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY, an aftercare provider.

KERST, DeVonna Belle, 78, of Tucson, died February 21, 1999. Services and burial will be in Wray, Colorado. Local arrangements by Heather Mortuary, an aftercare provider.

LAURA ORTIZ LOPEZ, 90, of Tucson, passed away February 21, 1999. Survived by sons, Arnold O. (Graciela) and Rene O. (Gloria) Lopez. Also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 1999 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at St. Margaret's Church, 801 N. Grande Ave. with Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be offered on Thursday, February 25, 1999, 9:00 a.m. also at St.Margaret's Church. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery. Mrs. Lopez was a member of the Guadalupanas. Arrangements by Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary, Inc.

LUNSFORD, Jay N., 64, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 20, 1999. Jay is lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara Ann; daughter, Tina Dawn (Erwin) Klingenberg; son, Brian Curt (Heather) Lunsford; grandchildren, Micah Curt, Isaac Shane, Rachel Linnae, Daniel Erwin, Hannah Noelle and Katherine Dawn; mother-in-law, Laura Belle Lash; sister-in-law, Sue (John) Journey; brother-in-law, Arval (Marilynn) Lash; nieces and nephews and many loving friends. Predeceased by his father, Norman; his mother, Betty; and sister, Jeannie Wyke. Jay was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from Co-Sales, food brokerage after 20+ years, was a charter member of El Camino Baptist Church, 7777 E. Speedway, where memorial services will be held3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 28, 1999. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd., an aftercare provider. Contributions may be made tothe El Camino Baptist Church Maintenance Ministry in the memory of Jay.

MASILKO, Melvin A., was born October 9, 1921 and passed away February 20, 1999. He attended Willcox grade and high schools and University of Arizona. He worked for Motor Supply Co. and H.L.S. Distributing Company for 45 years before retiring. Mel was stricken with polio when he was six years old but overcame that and had a full life. He will be missed by many. He is survived by his sister Esther and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held 9:00 a.m. Friday, February 26, 1999 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, an after care provider, 5801 E. Grant Rd.

McLAY, Bernice, 82 of Tucson, died February 20, 1999. Survived by husband, Theo 'Joe' Crain; brother, Richard Wiskow. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, an aftercare provider, 5801 E. Grant Rd. where Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 1999. Burial will follow in East Lawn Palms cemetery.

RUSSELL, Frank Egan, 85, of Taylorsville, Utah, died February 15, 1999 in Salt Lake City, UT. Frank was born in Pennsylvania on June 21, 1913. He married Ella Mae Offerele who precedes him in death. He is survived by sons, Bob Russell of Taylorsville, UT, Roy Russell of Littleton, CO; daughter, Lynne Nagle of KY; sisters, June Russell of Denver, CO and Marilyn Dinsmore of FL; and seven grandchildren. Services were held February 20, 1999 at Moore-Howard Aurora-Chase Mortuary, Aurora, CO. Burial was in Fairmount cemetery, Denver, Colorado.

STUMP, Charles Fay, Jr. (Lt. Col USAF, Ret.) 77, of Tucson, died February 21, 1999. Survived by wife, Gertrude; son, Gerald Michael Morgan of Olympia, WA; grandchildren, James and Sherry; three great-grandchildren; cousins, Paul Calvin of Sun City, AZ, Evelyn Daily of Irving, TX and Gloria Mae Craddick of Houston, TX. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 25, with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd., where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday. Entombment follows at East Lawn Palms Mausoleum with Military Honors.

THROOP, Guy W., age 74, of Tucson, died February 20, 1999. Survived by sons, Dan (Judy) Holben, David (Vicki) Holben, Chuck (Nancy Glaviano) Holden; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Barry, Cleon Throop; nephews, Roger Barry, Greg Barry, Tom Throop. Founder and owner of Throop Florist. Mr. Throop was past President of the Arizona State Florist Assoc. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. UDOVICH, Frank, 80, died Friday, February 19, 1999 at his home in Tucson. He was born in Eveleth, Minnesota. He is survived by one daughter, Cobyann Berglund of Phoenix; five sisters, Mitzi Greenman, Phoenix and Mt. Dron, Minn., Coby (JC) Hurst, Tucson, Penny Jensen, Challis, ID, Teddy Kilian, Chicago, Marnie (Joe) Egger, Blue Springs, MO and several cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was an Army veteran of World War II. After the war he returned to the iron range of Minnesota and worked for the U.S. Steel and later the Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railroad. Shortly after retiring from the D-M and IR, he moved to Tucson. Mass will be on Wednesday, February 24, 1999 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Cyril's Church. Friends may call at Heather Mortuary, 1040 N. Columbus Blvd. from 8:30 until 9:00 a.m. Memorials may be sent to the El Dorado Hospital Scholarship Fund, 1400 N. Wilmot, Tucson, Arizona 85712. VIZEDOM, Homer J., 81, born December 7, 1918 in Ohio, died February 20, 1999. Homer resided in Tucson for five years. preceded in death by wife, Jane Vizedom. Survived by son, David J. (Nance) Vizedom; daughter, Susan Goins; grandchildren, Nick and Elizabeth Goins and Kara Lynne Goley; great-granddaughter, Hailey Marie Goley and Gene Vizedom. In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer's Research, 640 Jackson St., St. Paul, MN 55101. Services will be held in Ohio.

WEST, Timothy O., 40, of Tucson, died February 20, 1999. Tim was a Real Estate Broker and a member of Tucson Association of Realtors and he was also a member of Gideons International. Survived by wife, Katie; daughters, Barbara and Abigail; mother, Barbara; brother, Tom (Becky) of CA; sisters, Kenna (Mike) McMurry of NC and Janna of Tempe. Funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24 at Pantano Christian Church, 29th St. and Houghton Rd. Burial will follow in East Lawn Palms cemetery. ZIMBELMAN, Thelma, 76, of Tucson, passed away February 20, 1999 in Casa Grande. A memorial service will be held February 26 at 3:00 p.m. at South Lawn Mortuary and cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave.in Tucson. Thelma was born November 5, 1922. She was a life member of the Syracuse Kansas Chapter No. 321 Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include a brother, Max of Boise, Idaho; two daughters, Brenda Armstrong and Linda Lea Zimbelman of Tucson and a son, John Zimbelman of Casa Grande; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in the name of Linda Lea Zimbelman to United Cerebral Palsy Foundation at 321 W. Hatcher Road, Suite 102, Phoenix, AZ 85021.

William Thomas McCulloch - Our Beloved Son, Father, and Brother, entered into Gods Arms on Friday, February 19, 1999. preceded in death by his father, Charles H. McCulloch. William dedicated his life to saving lives and helping others as a paramedic with the Tucson Fire Department and served in the US Navy. He is survived by his loving son, William C. McCulloch and his mother, Victoria McCulloch; brothers, Richard McCulloch, Fred McCulloch and sisters, Carol Callahan and Sandra Bravo. The family held a private service on Saturday, February 20, 1999 at St. Cyril's Catholic Church. William may your journey in your next life be peaceful.

JAMES F. BECKER, SR., 50, died February 6, 1999 at his home in Tucson. Born in Chicago, Illinois, son of Frank J. Jr. and the late Jeanne L. Loving brother of Marcia Giacalone. Viet Nam Navy veteran GM 3/C River Assault Sq #15 November 1996 three years seven months three days June 1970, Chicago Firefighter of 28 years. Retired from Engine Co. 119, September 1998. Member of Local #2 and the I.A.F.F. Married to Frances Chin Becker; father of two sons, James F., Jr. and Robert. Very active in veterans organizations, Past Commander of Chicago Firemen's Post #667 and Past 1st District Commander Department of Illinois. Member of Clown Unit of Voiture #220 of Illinois, transferred to American Legion Post #36, V.F.W. Post #493, Purple Heart Chapter #442 and D.A.V. Post #18, all of Tucson, (a life member of all). Had many dear friends and was a Harley man. Memorial services to be held Saturday, February 27, 1999 at 1400 hours (2:00 p.m.) Catalina Post #4903 VFW, 1150 N. Beverly, Tucson, Ariz.

BENTLEY, Doris Marie, born December 28, 1926, died February 13, 1999. Loving Grandmother, Friend, and Neighbor. Graveside memorial service February 25, 1999, 10:00 a.m., South Lawn cemetery, 5401 S. Park.

BUSTAMANTE, Antonio V., age 70, a lifetime resident of Tucson, passed away February 22, 1999. Born December 16, 1928 in Tucson. He is survived by his brother, Noe Bustamante; sister, Lorraine (John) Gabasi; nieces, Irma (Hector) Rodriguez and Cindy (Jerry) Martinez. A Memorial Mass will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 1999 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 338 W. University. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave.

GLADYS M. 'CHRIS' COOLEY - Longtime resident of Tucson, passed away February 19, 1999.
She was born November 20, 1922 in Decorah, Iowa to Gus and Martha Shegrud. She graduated from high school in La Crosse, Wisconsin and married Eugene on September 5, 1942. He entered the army shortly thereafter and they traveled together to several bases in the U.S. Son Gerald Eugene was born February 14, 1950.
They moved to Colorado Springs in 1953 and then to Albuquerque in 1962. Gerald married Gail Barton and blessed Chris with three beautiful grandchildren, Erika Jane, Kristy Gail, and Nathan Gerald. Chris and Gene moved to Tucson in 1980 and co-managed the Tucson Meadows Mobile Home Park for 18 years.
She worked hard all her life, but found time to enjoy and help other people. She loved and cherished her family and loved the Lord Jesus Christ. May the Lord bless and keep her in peace, assured that she will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Chris was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two sisters.
Memorial services will be held February 27th at the Tucson Meadows, 2121 S. Pantano at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society are requested.
Chris was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. May God Rest her Soul. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

CURLEY, Edward Francis, 87, passed away February 21, 1999. Born November 8, 1911 in Weymouth, MA; resident of Tucson since 1946. preceded in death by parents, Edward and Mary Curley. Survived by wife, Violetta; sons, Edward (Kathleen) and Kevin all of Tucson; brother, James (Eunice) Monahan of Buffalo, NY; sisters, Katherine (Thomas) Coughlan of Boston, MA and Winnifred Waterhouse of Cape Cod, MA; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Curley retired from the City of Tucson Financial Department in 1977. He was a WWII veteran; a founding member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish and an avid golfer. Mass will be offered 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 26th at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 602 W. Ajo Way. Burial in Holy Hope cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. John's Catholic School in memory of Mr. Curley. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 25th at BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott with recital of the rosary at 7:00 p.m.

ENCINAS, Maria Refugia, 100, of Tucson, passed away February 22, 1999. preceded in death by husband, Robert V. Encinas; son, Henry B. Encinas. Survived by daughter-in-law, Estella Encinas; grandsons, John (Debra) Felix, Arturo (Maria) Felix; granddaughters, Carol (Michael) Gravanda, Sylvia (Eugene) Villa, and Rebecca (Antonio) Sainz. Also survived by eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 26, 1999 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Saturday, February 27, 1999, 10:00 a.m. at St.Margaret's Church, 801 N. Grande Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery.
